The government’s sole responsibility is protection of the rights of its citizens.Governments are obligated to stay out of the way and let private individuals do what they do best. The welfare state first began in Henry VIII’s England after he sacked the monasteries which prevented them from helping the poor.
Marriage, abortion, bail-outs, an education, a car, a wind turbine or a farm are not Constitutional rights.

Therefore, the federal government has no place in any of that.

It’s already been debunked on here over and over.

Constitutional government should be looked at for all issues.

I would bet real money that the Founding Fathers would tell everyone to let the states decide on those issues.

In fact, that is the way it is used to be. If you look at how politicians ran in the old days, they used to go to DC first and then to state or territorial government, because the latter is where all the power was.

But liberal busy-bodies just can’t resist injecting themselves into everyone else’s lives because they think they are the smartest people in the room and for all the earthly glory it will bring.

Don’t be surprised if and when on Judgement Day you are told that you’ve received your comfort.
Re-Judgment Day: don’t worry, about me. I do not select which parts of the Bible to accept and which to supplant with political ideology or my interpretation of the constitution.

That is one of the most uncharitable things I’ve ever read on CAF. 😦

=seekerz;9940319]Ah, so if Sensata had had bigger tax-breaks on top of their not-insignificant profits, they might not be putting people out of work to move to China?
They would certainly have more incentive to stay here, but I guess then the democrat utopian dream wouldn’t be as well funded.

The democrats are driving businesses off-shore. GM builds over 70% of its inventory overseas.
If I’m not mistaken, your sort of reasoning is the same that was used to force Obama to maintain the Bush tax cuts…so how is it that the employment rate isn’t back to where it was before the recession began?
  1. Bush’s fiscal policy in the second-term was terrible.
  2. ObamaCare, Dodd-Frank, Sarbannes-Oxley and other democrat led legislation over-regulates and so the market doesn’t have the confidence to invest.
  3. Gas prices have doubled under Obama. High energy prices kill manufacturing.
  4. The corporate tax rate in this country is the highest in the industrialized world.
  5. If Obama wasn’t “forced” to extend the Bush tax RATES (they really weren’t a tax cut), low middle income families would have seen their taxes go up by 50%.

Church> Puritan constitution imho

Most of your posts on here that I’ve read fly in the face of the Constitution.

If you were really for the Constitution, you wouldn’t be an apologist for the left or the democrats and you certainly wouldn’t be in favor using the force of the federal government to take more from your neighbor.

Besides record profits, what more incentive did Sensata need from “Democrats”, super-high-ultra profits? If record profits cannot lead a company to reward its loyal workers with secure employment then nothing can, other than perhaps a sense of decency and patriotism.

Oh, so tax cuts are not a magic, job-creating bullet?

BTW, here’s a comparison of gas prices under Bush (2nd term) and (Obama). Not sure what you mean by “doubled”. They seem to start and end at the same place and to follow the same trend (more or less).

Thanks for the sermon, but I tend to prefer mine from the Bible or the Catechism not from a man-made, fallible, changeable document - however much I respect it.

So you know that seekerz doesn’t value God over everything else? Has he said that? Can you look into his soul and see that? Come on. Read Matt. 7:1
Don’t spoil the talking points. I can take it - I promise. 😉

Other people, many of whom who read their Bibles and learned their catechism, are also reading this. That is the whole reason I post.

Well, they probably should reward their workers in some way. Free markets are all about incentive.

Not a sermon, an observation.

If that was simply an observation, then I’m glad I don’t have to sit in a pew with you behind a pulpit! That sounded like some pretty deep assumptions about me and my views.

Rerum Novarum

Nobody is advocating for a welfare state. But even His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI called for the institution of public welfare systems to help out the poor in Caritas in Veritate, the same pope who mentions subsidiarity a billion times in the same Encyclical. There is a difference between government helping and government intruding.
Some people here and many other of our citizens are doing exactly that…advocating for a welfare state. The “public welfare systems to help the poor” are already in place…have been for decades and grow and grow every year…every year with no exception that I am aware of. Yes…there is a difference between government helping and intruding. It is just that the larger this system grows the harder it seems for people to discern that difference…even if they wanted to. Is not fiscal responsibility considered to be as much of a virtue as generosity?..

Is not fiscal responsibility considered to be as much of a virtue as generosity?..
The two are NOT mutually exclusive - the need for fiscal responsibility does not absolve us of the need to be generous.

Nothing I have posted has denied the role of government in helping the truly needy…nothing. “Not mutually exclusive “is a strawman argument…I have not said and I do not think otherwise…are there not degrees in everything? Look this is not that hard to grasp…is it? The actual problem…not the strawman…is that what is reasonable is subjective. Tell a teenager to come home at a reasonable hour…tell a liberal that we are spending too much on entitlements. People process information differently. When I say fiscal responsibilty…this goes into the ear of a liberal…goes round and round and then comes out…” He wants poor people to starve…he is not a true Christian”. This is the way it will always be it seems. Being a responsible adult is a thankless job and I am only kidding a tiny bit.
