Since the Church remembers Our Lady of Mt. Carmel today, I thought it would be nice to find out how many of us wear the scapular.

Today is the Feast Day of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, patroness of the brown scapular…it’s been around since the year 1251. I’ve worn one for many years and I never take it off at anytime. 😃

Well, don’t worry too much about that space-ghost! After a short while wearing one, the wool on the back “smooths” out.

Dear Redkim,

Do you believe that you receive, or have you personally experienced notable graces while wearing a particular Scapular? I have. 🙂 I experience a notable resistance to certain temptations or vices when I where one particular Scapular, and notice a very real difference when wearing others.:o Needless to say, it has become my favorite Scapular, but I wonder why there is this difference, and why this particular Scapular is more effective in giving me internal strength. Also, do you know what the Church teaches about Scapulars? I’m not aware of an official declaration, but I sure darn well do know that mine has given me strong graces and resistances to temptations…I always wear it.👍

Sincerely,

Smooser

I suppose that since this is a time of discernment for me, that is where my graces are coming in. I believe the Blessed Mother and Her Son want me on this path and are clearing the way for me. 🙂

I am proud to say that I wear a scapular. It makes me feel so secure in it. As far as the comfort “issue,” once you start wearing one, you actually become used to it. If you havent worn one or dont know what one is, just do some research about it and try it out. You would be surprised by how powerful this little piece of cloth is. 🙂

Yes, I do, and I have a whole jewelry box full of scapulars I’ve worn out!

yes,

i wear 3!!!
Our Lady has blessed me since i’ve opened my heart and started re-learning the Faith 5 years ago!
Our Lady, Queen of Peace, pray for us!
Thank You Jesus!

I really don’t understand what the scapular is supposed to do, or what I’m supposed to do with it.

Anyone know of a good link on the internet I could read, or wouldn’t mind explaining it to me?

Needless to say, I’m the only one who voted “What the heck is a scapular”.

Sorry. 😦

I am wearing the brown scapular right now. I always enroll my first communicants in the scapular. Also I recently received someone into the carmelite third order. I myself am more into Opus Dei, but I encourage people to join any approved third order or movement.

I wear a scapular with a miraculous (sp?) medal that I attached to the front! Mary really helps me to resist temtation and follower her son!

It’s REALLY nice to see someone NOT hide their Catholic Faith as has often times been the case.

I used to get a rash whenever I wore one. Must have been the material or dye. Finally I found one made in some Mexican mission and I can wear it with no problems. What a blessing. Btw, it no longer has to be made of wool. Any material that is brown in color will do.
