Well I have stories of so-called “Christians” (including “Catholics”) who do express such hatred.
Yes indeed. But I was merely refuting your false claim that
As can be seen on this forum and stories from this forum alone, there is a lot of hatred for gays simply because they’re gay. This is contrary to Church teaching, but people don’t care.
Please withdraw this patently false claim if you want to be taken seriously.
And why not? Did I ever say the people suffering from those temptations shouldn’t have the option of a Mass specific aimed at helping them in their temptation available to them, or are you just putting words in my mouth?
Why is it that Churches shouldn’t have support groups? That’s what I’m suggesting. Why is it that these support groups can’t extend to having Mass where the homilies relate specifically back to what the support group is for? This is also what I’m suggesting.
Support groups to help people overcome a specific temptation, sure, good idea. But NOT taking over a parish church on Sundays to form a “community” of people who happen to have the same temptation and excluding anyone from sunday Mass who does not have the same temptation. .
#3: I wasn’t talking about gays in that paragraph of my post, but the general atmosphere of unwelcome-ness and “Can we get this over with?” that plagues Mass-goers. Such a feeling turns anyone away from Mass. I aimed to relate that back to my main point by indirectly asking the reader to imagine how much harder it is for a gay person, who already feels unwelcome because they’re gay (even though they’re trying to not succumb to their temptations), to adjust to such an atmosphere. Anyone who is uncomfortable or has been uncomfortable in any situation will know that such an atmosphere makes it feel like you’re doing something wrong, regardless of whether or not you are.
I would have thought that a Catholic Mass was one of the few places where everybody feels welcome regardless of what sins he might be tempted to commit, or indeed have actually committed.

I dislike the idea of any Mass being offered for the purpose of excluding others. The Mass belongs to the universal Church, not any special interest.

I wonder if all the people at this Mass that were active homosexuals refrained from communion, in accord with Church doctrine? If not, perhaps the good Archbishop was concerned for them. It was charitable to deny them the near occassion of the sin of sacrilege.

Here is a question. Is the Eucharist void, because those people are living in sin?
And if a person, who is next in line, who hasn’t sinned, Do they get a valid Eucharist?

That’s actually an excellent question. I would think that the Eucharist is valid, because the Mass is valid. Unless the priest’s willful action of offering a Mass with the intention of providing the Eucharist takes away the validity…

I think it depends on whether the priest changed the consecration. There was mention upthread of the priest changing words around… so maybe the Eucharist was not actually confected. That would be a blessing… because if it was a valid Eucharist then there were probably a number of sacrileges committed.

Of course, at your typical liberal Novus Ordo parish there are probably dozens of sacrileges committed every Sunday, because people don’t think they need to go to confession, etc. In both cases there are issues of discipline and catechesis.

May God bless all those who acted to put a stop to this villainy.

That’s not what I was saying at all. In fact, I said the opposite in my very first sentence.

Simply being gay is not a sin. The Catechism says this (2357-2359), and it says that the sin lies in homosexual acts (i.e. gay sex). So if a person is gay, they still feel alienated by the Church regardless of whether or not they are chaste simply because there is hatred for them from the Church members just because of their sexual orientation.

So there is hatred for gays, not because of their lifestyle (which many faithful gay Catholics do not live, instead they live chastely) but simply because they’re gay. That’s wrong and should be changed.
I don’t know why you continue to state there is hatered of Gays in the Church. You keep saying it as fact in the hopes that we will agree with you. Hate is a very strong Verb and you have no right to place thoughts and feelings on another person. it is very uncharitable and no in no way helps you get your point across!

Peace!👍
