I need to lose about 50 pounds. I have been on Weight Watchers in the past, but I am always hungry on it. I don’t eat right now, but I don’t each much. I just need to be determined to do something. I don’t really exercise either. I have a back pain and can’t do much except swim that will not cause too much pain, but hate to go to the gym.

I hope to get enough strength to join all of you. I hope everyone does well.
Yes join us…even if it’s slow at first:thumbsup:. I have a ruptured disc in my low back, L4/L5 region. I also have back pain and it’s hard to exercise, but I’ve been doing pretty good.

I’m running and lifting weights; lighter weights (5-10lbs) and I’ve taken it slow as too not aggravate my back. I also see a chiropractor every couple of weeks to be “stretched out and adjusted” it feels so good:whacky: :bounce:.

I’m really making an effort to reach my goals and maintain them this time, I have all the tools all need so no excuses this time:thumbsup:!

That’s why I love Atkins, I never feel hungry. You can eat as much as you need to feel full, or as often (snack etc.) just as long as your eating the right foods. I can’t do regular diets because I get frustrated from feeling hungry and deprived and then I give up and raid the cabinet.

I agree, I loved Atkins because of it, but I just can’t do low-carb anymore because everyone else in my family eats normal. I just cut portion sizes and exercise…

I try to eat with LightWeigh.com guidelines… 🙂

Atkins is the only diet that has ever worked for me. I have a terrible problem with sugar cravings and Atkins completely eliminates my cravings for junk food (which makes it a lot easier to stick with it) and I have so much more energy. And of course, the immediate weightloss keeps me motivated. 👍
Atkins works the best for me, too. It seems like I only have to look at carbs & I gain weight:blush: . With the Atkins, I have no cravings whatsoever! In fact, sometimes I have to remind myself to eat:shrug: ! In 1999 I first went on it and I lost 50 lbs. I stuck with it for 5 years then “fell off.” I gained 25 lbs. back over about a 2 year period. Now I’m back on track and have lost 11 lbs. It works and you can have something “bad” on occasion, just don’t go on a 3 day carbo-loading binge!🙂

That’s what I like about it, is it eliminates most cravings. I mean, I still sit here and think about how nice it would be to dig into a nice slice of pie, but I have more control over it than I otherwise would. The cravings is what causes me to fail at other diets. I am a sugar nut! I inherited my granny’s sweet tooth and man, does it make it hard to control what I eat.

:crying: :banghead: Agggh! I just remembered why I’m the size I am…I HATE CARDIO:crying: :crying:, although I had a great cardio workout this morning…I still hate doing it:o .

I’m praying:gopray2: that as time goes on and I keep doing it I’ll learn to love it again:rolleyes: . I used to be a track and long distance runner…no, please don’t ask me what happened…I think it’s call got “lazy”😊.

Well wishes for all those on this thread, may the Lord give you the strength to reach your goals, have a wonderful day!

I’ve lost 15lbs in the last few months and I’m feeling good. I still have more to go, but I think it helps once you get past those first few pounds to feel like, yes, I can do this and it’s not just some sort of random fluctuation.

Finding an exercise that I really enjoy has been key for me. I’ve always walked…and walked…and walked, and no matter the pace - unless the incline was super high, I didn’t lose much, if anything. I didn’t want to start running because I don’t want to ruin my joints. Anyway, I started researching and I ordered a rebound-air - it’s amazinnnnnnnnnng. It’s basically a super-sturdy mini-trampoline. It’s so much fun. I do all sorts of jumps on it and there are other health benefits to jumping, too, that I won’t get into right now. Plus I don’t hurt my joints in the process. I can watch tv or listen to music or keep an eye on my little one while I bounce and get exercise. I still use my treadmill and we still walk outside a great deal, but I think the combination of both has been good for me.

The other component was diagnosing some underlying issues going on that were preventing me from having much success. I encourage everyone who has tried and failed to lose weight to at least see your physician and rule out any biochemical obstacles. Mine aren’t fixed, but they’re somewhat managed, and being aware of them is at least part of the battle.

As fall and winter approach, I’ve been psyching myself up to continue the exercise with the same momentum. I know that in the past, I’ve gotten in the habit of being less active because it’s so bitterly cold outside, or warm winter clothes can hide the body a little better then body-baring summer dresses. I don’t want that to happen this year, so I’m trying to get mentally prepared to not give in to any temptation to be sedentary. Plus, fall and winter food tends to be much heavier then summer fare - so I’m trying to be aware and prepared for that, too.

I’ve thought about Weight Watchers, but haven’t decided if it’s right for me. I eat organic, whole foods and I don’t think my diet is too much of the issue. I do have difficulty metabolizing carbs, so I could do better to cut down on whole grains and fruits. My problem with WW is that they really advocate a lot of fake sugar and fake fats, so… not sure it’s for me. I think it would just help with portion size. I’m still nursing, so that’s also something that confuses me - if I don’t eat enough, then my young toddler isn’t getting what she wants/needs.

Anyway, great thread and I will be checking back.

:rotfl: I know what you mean, I think about a nice fat piece of New York Cheesecake or a Cannoli, or Baked Rigatoni, but the difference is I don’t actually go and get it! I just dream about it!😉 Having said that, The Cheesecake Factory has a delicious low-carb cheesecake and they offer it by the slice (for those special occasions)😉 ! With Thanksgiving & Christmas around the corner, maybe we can share our low-fat or low-carb recipes!🙂

Do you know how many carbs are in it? That sounds soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo GOOD!

DH and I had a deal that when I got to my goal weight, we’d go to The Cheesecake Factory to celebrate. I have been dying to have some!

Unfortunately, I don’t have any recipes to share since I have never really tried any. Maybe I will start trying some soon. I’m trying to hold off on that a little. I’m still in induction right now so I’m afraid to mess that up.

On another message board I’m on, somebody posted a recipe for egg “bread”. She used egg white , cream of tartar , and something else , don’t remember. But she said it was really good.

ETA here it is…

I did try Atkins at one time, but didn’t last on it for I missed the carbs. Was that normal in the beginning? I think we, dh and I, for about two months. He developed gout from the diet and was told by doctors to get off of it and that is when we tried Weight Watchers.

At the school my dd went to last year, there were two teachers on WW and they look great. This year, she is homeschooled, but I had to take her to choir practice and it is at the time the school lets out. I saw another teacher who was very heavy and she too has lost weight on WW. She told me she lost 35 pounds. She is much older than I am and I asked her if she gets hungry on it and she said no. I asked this of the other teachers and they did not get hungry on it either. I don’t know why I do. I wonder if it has to do with sugar. I do love my sweets. I don’t know what it could be than. That is the only reason, I have not committed to WW again. I hate feeling hungry all the time.

I don’t remember how many carbs are in the cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory but I’ll find out. I’m on Induction, too, but I keep myself on it much longer than the 14 days, it works better for me that way. Thanks for the recipe, it looks like something I’d try. I’ve got company coming over so I don’t have much time right now, but I’ll post some recipes soon. I’ve even modified some desserts from Paula Deen with white & brown sugar Splenda ! Where there’s a will, there’s a way!😉 😃

I am old enough to be a grandmother (but sadly, not yet!) and have been getting some great results losing weight with Weight Watchers (32.6 pounds in 17 weeks). I am exercising - treadmill, bike, crunches, dumbbells - but don’t know what to do about my upper arms - the lower part that waves back at me when I wave 😛 I have always had pretty good biceps - for a girl 🙂 - but never paid attention to the triceps. Is that all fat under there? Can I even lose it from there? If I do, can I, at my semi-advanced age, tighten up the muscles there?

I feel funny asking this here but didn’t have anywhere else to ask. Thank you for tolerating me 😃

Mind if I join you folk? I need to lose weight too. I want to lose the belly, and hopefully drop a couple cup sizes as well (is that even possible?). I’ve been drooling over some knee-length boots for several years now, and want to get my calves smaller so the boots can fit–buying the boots will be my reward for losing the weight. I don’t own a scale, so I’m not aiming at XX pounds, but more a general feel of healthiness and looser fitting clothes. 🙂

I’m terrible with my eating habits, so I’m afraid I’m mostly going to be hoping that using the exercise bike will do the trick. I’m going to do what I can with watching what I eat, but we’re eating out for every meal right now, and it’s difficult to watch what you eat when doing that.

Same here, mind if i join?
I just started the sure slim program, its pretty hard, but im determined to stick to it, for $800, its motivation enough 😃
You can only really eat 3 meals a day, and you have to wait 5 hours between meals 😦
I just hope and pray i can stick to it, even as just a kick start.
Ive got quite a lot i need to lose, about 30 kilos give or take.
So hopefully it wont take too long…

Hello all:D !!! I had a great workout this morning:thumbsup: , I worked my lower body (legs & abs), tomorrow is cardio day:rolleyes: . Yesterday was great…my free day and I had a good ol’ chicken sandwich, fries and onion rings from the drive thru:cool: . It’s only my second time at the fast food place since I started Body For Life (on my free day only of course!), thank God for giving me the strength:bowdown2: to do that.

May He continue to give us all the strength we need, God Bless us all and keep up the good work:thumbsup: .

Hi Princess Abbey, I’m so glad to hear from you again:), how are things going? Congrats on your weight loss so far!!! If you are looking into a program try Body For Life, that’s what I’m doing and I really like it cause I’m eating and it’s good foods. I do buy low-fat and non-fat types of foods but that’s mostly diary like milk, cottage cheese, and yogurt. I also try to stick to more organic foods so doing the BFL challenge didn’t really change my grocery list:thumbsup: . I did add protein shakes/meal replacement shakes and bars since I don’t want to be in the kitchen all day, or when I’m out and about. Anyway, it’s a really good program if you’re looking for something, go to the website and check out the transformations…they are amazing!!! Here’s the link www.bodyforlife.com.

Hope this helps and welcome!!!
