Ugh. DH brought home a nice juicy apple pie the other night. My atkins diet is over.

I would have been able to resist but I hit a stall and was just getting frustrated. I think I’m going to forget atkins and try something else that leaves room for “cheating” once a week. I was going out of my mind with not being able to have just ONE bite of something good.
You know that’s one of the reasons I love Body For Life, that cheat day is great. What I have found is that even on the cheat day I manage to eat right, usually what I eat is something from the drive-thru, or I skip meals which I can’t do on the the other days. Good luck finding something that’ll work for you.

Well I had a great work out this morning:D. I’ve been taking it easy with the workouts cause I’ve been sick for the last week:(. I’ve only been doing some cardio since that won’t make me worse.

I started lifting again today, it felt so good, I did my lower body workout, but I am going to call the doctor to make sure I don’t have a sinus infection.

How’s everyone else doing?

I had a great workout this morning!!!

I actually was able to finish 20 minutes on my Rebounder :extrahappy: :extrahappy:!!!

When I first started using it I couldn’t get more than 15 minutes on it before I thought I was going to DIE:eek: !!!

I pray that everyone else is progressing well, keep it up everyone:thumbsup: :D!!!

I am so glad you love the Rebound-air, Lexee!! Isn’t it so fabulous? I took a break the last few weeks to let my toe heal. I just started again and it’s still a little sore, but I think I can keep using it. Yay!!

If you’re having trouble with maintaining jumping, a trick to get your breath back (so to speak) is to switch from actual jumping to bouncing from foot to foot. Not sure I can explain this, but: spread your feet shoulder width apart, or a little wider and then bounce your weight from one leg to the other fast and rhythmically. The feet shouldn’t leave the rebound-air. You’re still getting cardio but it’s not as taxing as jumping non-stop. Then when you’re ready you can go back to jumping during the session. 🙂

Weight loss is always a chalenge. Shaklee makes a chocolatey and nutritious meal replacement shake that has protein to give you energy throughout the day. Check out shaklee.net/bellini/product/20341.

BTW, I remember when my wife started a pilates class and the instructor read from the “book of yoga” and gave a short “homily” afterwards. This took about 20 minutes before they even got to excercising! I think the excercising can be helpful but I’d be careful. We have all we need in our Holy Mother Church.

Hello everyone!!! How’s the exercise and weight loss going? I pray everyone is still on track and motiviated:D 👍!!!

I’ve had a rough couple of days, not really sleeping because I’m worried about my nephew, so I missed a couple of workouts. I’ve been sticking to my eating plan though:thumbsup:.

I did my cardio today, so I plan on getting back on track…keep up the good work everyone:)!!!

I’ll have to go back and read the posts about this gizmo…have never heard of it…

We used to do the above to get in shape for skiing. We’d start with the leg to leg, then move to putting both legs together and jumping side to side, then progress to jumping side to side, ankles together, over a low object–say a footstool. Ends up being pretty high impact. Goal was to do 2 sets of 50 per day–in addition to running and weight training–talk about a cardio workout!

Am a little behind in the workouts…though have been doing better at limiting what gets past my lips! Neurologist has me going to a PT 2x/week to address h/a + neck issues (who informed me that I had the conditioning of a 30 y.o, but the neck of an arthritic 50 y.o… 🤷 ) Anyway…the gal is a miracle worker, but I do hate these ongoing appointments and the limitations on my own workout agenda. It IS almost November and ski season is just around the corner after al!!!

I started Weight Watchers on October 5th at 77.3kg. Today I was 70.8. That’s 14 pounds! 24lbs more to go 😃 I do feel momentarily disheartened though, since I just stifled an anxiety attack with ladyfingers and a small tub of mascarpone

Question for you ladies who are doing Weight Watchers in the US - how many points are typical? Here you never are allowed more than 20 per day (the “flexipoints” part is that you can save up to 4 points per day and use them before the end of the week, when they’re erased). Once I dip below 70kg, I’ll be able to use 18 points. You do earn for exercise, but they’re miserly with it.

Anyway, I was wondering because someone mentioned that the American version allows 24-27 points per day, with extra 35 flex points a week to be spread out however you like. I think that’s what I was eating before I started the program.

I’m mainly curious - a lot of days I feel like I’m starving with the 20 points (and really have to do 16-18 most of the time to see downward motion) but I am losing weight and keeping it off, and the success rate of Weight Watchers (keeping weight off/substantial weight loss) is allegedly a lot higher in Europe.

Alright, I’m back on board. After a month of…well, you don’t even want to know. :o

I’m not doing atkins. I’ve just cut out all junk food and trying to control portion size. I’m down 2 lbs. since Sunday. I’ve got a loooooong road ahead of me.

Lexee, how much have you lost so far? You are doing really great, sticking to it much better than me. 😉

Glad to see this thread again.

I started a weight loss challenge with my friend for the next three months. So far i haven’t loset anything because i had a few personal crisis that popped up BUT I am taking things with baby steps. I have given up caffiene, Chips and Salsa and Eating extra sugar (chocolate and sweets that i tend to turn to for comfort)

Hello everyone!

I just recently began a committment to lose weight, and I’m so happy to see that there is a thread for those who are also trying to lose weight.

I am 26, and am very heavy. I’ve been heavy since middle school. I’ve tried so many diets, and end up gaining more weight in the end. When I was 21 I became very seriously ill and nearly died. I was on a high dose of steroids for the better part of two months, and whoa! did I gain so much more weight! And ever year up till the present, I’ve continued to gain a terrible ten pounds a year.

Well, I was watching the Today show a few days ago, and I heard the story of a woman who lost well over 100 pounds, and was still able to eat her favorite foods, and also didn’t even exercise! Needless to say, I was excited to hear about how she did it, and I went to the website she mentioned. It’s the Weigh Down diet. I bought the book a few days ago, and have also been reading up about criticizms and testamonies about the program. I know that she has gone off the deep end in her theology a bit, but being on the died for only 4 days, I have already lost three pounds.

I pray to God that I am able to lose my weight. I told my sister about my desire to lose weight, and she told me that she went through the Light Weigh (but for anorexia) and she still has all of her materials, and will mail them to me. I’m so excited! I feel that with the help of God that I can finally become healthier!

I was looking at the BMI calculator, and at what weight range I should be in to be healthy. It’s an amazing thought for me that I can someday fit into a size 8. I haven’t been a size eight since I was 13 or 14.

BTW, I have about 100 pounds I need to lose! Please keep me in prayer, as I will pray for all of you.

Heartaflame

Light Weigh is awesome. So far I have a copy of their 3 audio tapes on dvd, from a friend, and after the hols I hope to get a friend to order me all the materials - it runs $135 now for the 12 wk program. Anyway the site is www.lightweigh.com if you want more info. I am just a newbie to it but hope to do well with it. I have 80-100 lbs to lose.

I’m 119 kg and my points would be 23… and I’m in Sweden.

Yay for the weight loss thread!!! :clapping:

I started the Light weigh about a week ago to grow in my faith/relationship and lose weight. I’m already amazed at the way the Holy Spirit is touching me! I highly recommend it; if your parish doesn’t have a group, you can start your own.

www.lightweigh.com

It shifts the focus from food to prayer and sacrifice. Once I get the two main principles down, I’m going to start using exercise as a sacrifice/offering.

:bounce:
God Bless everyone on their journey to a healthy body!

Check this one out! I became very inspired by this lady. I saw her on a T.V. show on Discovery Health called “I lost it” and became very intrigued on how she had such a dramatic physical change!

This showed me that it can be done! She did it with Body for Life.

Check out her before and after pictures! She did it in a matter of like 18 months or so!

I would love to achieve atleast 10% of what she did.

Weird. I’m in Belgium. People tend to be very thin here, and they walk/bike a lot, but the national foods are french fries, chocolate, and beer. It’s hard.

I’ve been stagnating the last couple of months, not loosing, but not gaining back either. It’s getting disheartening but I’m looking forward to Lent. Maybe it’ll keep me on a stricter path. I’ve really got to cut out all sugars but raw honey (that I eat on my plain yogurt) and alcohol - it’s hard to say no when great wines are plentiful and cheap, and most everyone has a drink with dinner every night.

Hey Guys its been awhile. Here is a good one for you. Me and my buddy started weight watcher 3 weeks ago for like the 6th year in a row. Oh trust me it wasnt the program, it was the PROGRAMERS lets say. I always have certain number and when i pass it i panic. But heres my point you will love this one. Now im not pushing weight watcher trust me. Its easy to loose weight hey just dont eat right. The secret is keeping it off. So anyway we get there and there are these 2 women every week day in day out. Always giving advice we all know them Now these arent the workers they are like us. so they loose a pound. Im thinking oh yeah. Well for the last month now they would loose one half pound or nothing at all. I told my buddy what a joke why do they even come half a pound l pound why bother. Well here is the good one the laugh was on me. Last week the one lost 3 pounds. she said i drank my water and really stayed on the program da… BORING. WELL here is the good point she lost 3 pounds well i though besides the one half and then the 2 you gained the week before maybe you are even. well she started in sept. When she said she lost 3 pounds the leader said lets share your total do you mind. 45 pounds, I said wow. Now i am going to do it. I only need to loose 25. THE LAUGH WAS ON ME. Me and my buddy figured it to be about a half a pound a week on average. Now come on we can all do that. Now my problem is i want to loose 25 pounds by sat. and todays fri. any advice . If not i guess it .5 at a time for me too.

You’re funny, Rinnie! I love it. I get really frustrated too. Once you decide to lose it you want it gone. Our instant gratification society doesn’t help, either. Nevermind the rest about society…

I’m pretty amazed at how portion size really does make a difference. I love food and have always loved that there are plans that let you have unlimited amounts of certain things. On Weight Watchers I would eat a salad with a flavored vinegar on it (0 points) and stuff it into my stomach along with the rest of an entire meal. On the Light Weigh, I can eat whatever I want as long as it falls into the portion size allowed and I’m actually physically hungry. Even CHOCOLATE!!

I weighed myself yesterday and was 2.5# down. My first ten are always easy. It’s after them that I start to lose focus. I guess something in me is afraid of losing the rest (20 more). I’m a real emotional eater and I need to stop rewarding/consoling myself with food. :tsktsk:

If only exercise were so tempting!

😊 <— hate it…

What does everyone else do when they’re tempted? Any advice?

That is so funny that you would say that. I am like you I need to loose 20. But if i loose ten i can be okay with it. Its like i wont l et myself finish. Then it never gets done. ww is like what you said i think all about portions. But what is the one you are on? If you dont mind sharing a little infor. Like is it somewhere you go or what. I cant believe there is one out there i never heard of. But when you are really serious do you always loose any extra ten so you can enjoy eatting it back on. thats my problem i get over enjoyed.
