Excellent commentary on this by Michelle Malkin.

First, They Came for the Catholics
=========
Bishop Alexander Sample of Marquette, Mich., asserted plainly: “We cannot – we will not – comply with this unjust law.”
It’s not just rabid right-wing politicos defying the Obama machine. Pro-life Democratic Sen. Bob Casey of Pennsylvania denounced the “wrong decision.” Left-leaning Bishop Robert Lynch threatened “civil disobedience” in St. Petersburg, Fla., over the power grab. Lefty Washington Post columnist E.J. Dionne wrote that Obama “botched” the controversy and “threw his progressive Catholic allies under the bus” by refusing to “balance the competing liberty interests here.”
White House press secretary Jay Carney blithely denied on Tuesday that “there are any constitutional rights issues” involved in the brewing battle. Yet, the Shut Up and Hand Out Abortion Pills order undermines a unanimous Supreme Court ruling issued just last week upholding a religious employer’s right to determine whom to hire and fire. And two private colleges have filed federal suits against the government to overturn the unconstitutional abortion coverage decree.
Hannah Smith, senior counsel at the nonprofit law firm The Becket Fund, which is representing the schools, boiled it down for Bloomberg News: “This is not really about access to contraception. The mandate is about forcing these religious groups to pay for it against their beliefs.”

Michelle Malkin is no shrinking violet. She always tells it like it is. And she is correct with this one. All kinds of left wing people both religious and political are seeing through to the real issue. It is about the “forcing” of religious people to violate their consciences and pay for something they are opposed to. If the government can pull this one off…what’s next?

**I heard a week or so ago a quote from the President that said his campaign will be a campaign of “choice.” At the time the HHS news had not hit - however I find his choice of words timely.

And I ask again…where is the ACLU? Clearly not on board for MY rights.**

I’m having problems viewing the first article, is anyone else?

If the ACLU doesn’t jump all over this, they will lose any ounce of credibility that they might have still had.

It’s time for the American Catholics to take a stand. Our leadership in the church needs to stand firm and just say, “No. We will not comply” This would set the tone for any further discussions. As a Knight I find it entirely plausible that if we, as a united front, stand on our God given rights as described in the Declaration of Independence, can win the day. Catholics as a whole need to “grow a pair”, and stop capitulating on these defining pieces of legislation.

I tell you what’s next. The government will pass regulations forcing all pharmacists and all pharmacies to carry and dispense abortive/contraceptive drugs or lose their licenses and go out of business. Will pass similar regulations for hospitals and clinics: you must prescribe abortive/contraceptive drugs to those who ask for them, must perform surgical sterilizations when requested, or lose your license, and close down your hospital/clinic.

The ACLU has been working for the other side: see the Michelle Malkin article. Apparently religious liberty doesn’t fit into their agenda.
The ACLU worked the other side too in the Hosanna-Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church and School case and still lost, as did the Administration. Nothing says it better than a 9-0 loss.

The American Criminal Liberties Union does not and will not represent Christians let alone Catholics. The abortionists are exerting their power and will. We need to just overcome them with a simple NO!. We are a stong force, and if we unite on this thay can not win. Its a matter of will on our part.

Washington must make changes to healthcare mandates to exclude religious hospitals, colleges and social services from contraception requirements. Contraception mandates deprive the people of institutions of their ethical and inalienable right to protect life and physical integrity. Historically, Catholics attend rallies to protest the lack of government protection of life from womb to tomb. Millions have already died as a result of the direct violation of the sanctity of life. We’ve waited and prayed for the light of reason to align common law with natural law. We consoled the sick and injured who have been oppressed these intrinsic evils of our time. Now we must act as one body, one faith, one voice by tax resistance.
The means of tax resistance dates back to 1st century AD and has been used for conscientious objection. The legal and peaceful means of tax resistance in this protest is simply filing for extension. The overwhelming number of extensions filed will highlight the grave importance of this issue.

You are correct except for one thing. Washington has no jurisdiction over the health care system. It is not in the purview of their defined authority as stated in the constitution. They have no constitutional power. Roe vs wade was an improper interpretation of the constitution. If anything, abortion is a states rights issue, not a federal matter. Since that “law” was passed 57,000,000 people have been killed in the womb. These abortionists sometimes speak of the great atrocities committed during the holocaust of WWII. We have surpassed that in our own country and inflicted a holocaust of our own on our own. The Catholic Church has had very little affect on escalation of the in vitro massacre going on. We are at best perceived as sheep on the matter. “Not much of problem” is what I’ve encountered in discussions with abortionists. Maybe this time, when the evil is at our doorstep, we will stand up and fight. These people will not be easily defeated, we will have to commit ourselves to a long and difficult fight to save our young

All true. Obamacare, as did Roe violates the 10th Amend. to the U.S. Constitution.

If we can win this one, the whole of Obamacare may be overturned. I’ll be satisfied with destroying it step by step until the USSC throws the whole of Obamacare out.

Someone (actually someone from my parish) said that if we all decided to just not pay taxes, what could they do? They couldn’t throw all the Catholics and other religious groups that are objecting into jail.😃 This being said, I would not of course go that far, but how do you say “NO” without closing your doors? In other words, what is the practical and effective way to say “NO” without breaking the law?

Ah…Ok, never thought of filing extensions. Now that might work.
