“Catholic Family News” is not affiliated with the Catholic Church.

Caveat Emptor

CAF not affiliated with Church either thus you have flawed circular reasoning there
Catholic Answers is affiliated with the Catholic Church. It oversees CAF.

Church Militant used to have the word Catholic in their name. Since they aren’t affiliated with the Church, the Church asked them to drop the word Catholic from their name. They did.

National Catholic Reporter also is not affiliated with the Church. The Church asked them to drop the word Catholic. They refused.

When a group uses the word Catholic in their name, but is unaffiliated, it seems fair to point out that fact.

QUESTION: “ “… Your Holiness, what meaning do the Fatima apparitions have for us today? In June 2000, when you presented the text of the third secret in the Vatican Press Office, a number of us and our former colleagues were present. You were asked if the message could be extended, beyond the attack on John Paul II, to other sufferings on the part of the Popes. Is it possible, to your mind, to include in that vision the sufferings of the Church today for the sins involving the sexual abuse of minors?

POPE BENEDICT: “ “… In 2000, in my presentation, I said that an apparition – a supernatural impulse which does not come purely from a person’s imagination but really from the Virgin Mary, from the supernatural – that such an impulse enters into a subject and is expressed according to the capacities of that subject. … Consequently, I would say that, here too, beyond this great vision of the suffering of the Pope, which we can in the first place refer to Pope John Paul II, an indication is given of realities involving the future of the Church , which are gradually taking shape and becoming evident. So it is true that, in addition to moment [sic] indicated in the vision, there is mention of, there is seen, the need for a passion of the Church, which naturally is reflected in the person of the Pope, yet the Pope stands for the Church and thus it is sufferings of the Church that are announced. The Lord told us that the Church would constantly be suffering, in different ways, until the end of the world. … As for the new things which we can find in this message today, there is also the fact that attacks on the Pope and the Church come not only from without, but the sufferings of the Church come precisely from within the Church , from the sin existing within the Church . This too is something that we have always known, but today we are seeing it in a really terrifying way: that the greatest persecution of the Church comes not from her enemies without, but arises from sin within the Church * , and that the Church thus has a deep need to relearn penance, to accept purification, to learn forgiveness on the one hand, but also the need for justice . Forgiveness does not replace justice.”

Hi Margaret!

I hope you are well. I am writing because I saw your post regarding Fr. Isaac, and I too am a big fan. It was his talk on male purity that really help me out. That being said, I am still dealing with challenges and know that his advice would really assist me. Like the user in your thread, I too have reached out to the Fatima Center. They provided me with a physical address, and I have sent a letter. However, I have no idea if Father stays there often, or if he is currently residing there; I know he travels a lot for conferences and missions etc… I don’t want to put you in an awkward position, but I was wondering if it would be possible to receive his number was well? I have spoken to a lot of priests, however the one that seems to best understand the true nature of the struggle is Father Isaac. I would really appreciate it. God bless!

Another person asked for his information. I texted him but he hasn’t responded to my text.

Just as an FYI, the Fatima Center is not affiliated with the Catholic Church, nor with Church approved Fatima movements, including the shrine at Fatima.

I am skeptical of these private revelations. Obviously, people want to turn this private revelation into public revelation. And, people write books filled with speculation about popes and others who have played “keep away” with this alleged third secret. Without the unveiling of he third secret this controversy is all hubris.

You can be a faithful Catholic and reject some, or all private revelations.
But keep an open mind. The fact that some abuse Fatima doesn’t mean there isn’t something of spiritual value there, for some people.

We live in an anti-religious authority era. Agencies like The Fatima Center exploit that, raise money by attacking the leaders of the Catholic Church, and attacking Fatima ministries in union with the Church.

But the actual Fatima message calls for personal conversion, confessing one’s own sins, daily prayer and actions of love and evangelism, in unity with the Church. Fatima points our attention to the Gospel, not to Fatima.

In the early 2000s (forget which year), the Fatima Center alerted people to a Hindu ceremony (!) which was performed at the Chapel of the Apparitions in Fatima. AFAIK, they were the only apostolate to put out the alert.

People were justly upset read the idolatrous ceremony in the Vatican gardens during the Amazon Synod last October. This was just as bad but nary a peep from most media outlets.

They’re defending the Catholic Faith too. Are they well known like EWTN? No. All the different orthodox Catholic apostolates (official, unofficial, lay) all try to promote the glory of God and the salvation of souls.

Luke 9: [49] And John, answering, said: Master, we saw a certain man casting out devils in thy name, and we forbade him, because he followeth not with us. [50] And Jesus said to him: Forbid him not; for he that is not against you, is for you.

The Fatima Center isn’t an official, unofficial or lay Catholic apostolate. It’s a private organization that attacks the Catholic bishops, and not much else.

It’s in the same general category as the National Catholic Reporter, or Chick Publications. Chick Publications also offers insights into the Catholic hierarchy.

Orthodox Fatima organizations are in union with the Church. They are apostolates. They are more likely to criticize Planned Parenthood or the secular Media than the Catholic Church. For the Fatima Center, the Catholic Church is the greatest evil.

That is NOT true. They are devoted Catholics who uphold the traditional teachings of the Church.
Ok, I withdraw my opinion. I don’t know what is on their minds. Better to express it this way:
Based on websites and publications I have seen, Fatima agencies in union with the Church criticize the Church less than they criticize other organizations, media or governments. The Fatima Center criticizes the Church more than they criticize any one else. A lot more.

You might say the Fatima Center people are devoted Catholics, but don’t you think actual Fatima apostolates (trashed by the Fatima Center) might be devoted also?

I’m only speaking from my own experience. I’m not going to comment on others unless they do so first.

If you are trying to criticize Vatican II with Fr. Alonso words, take into account that he said “Traditionalism” would also tear apart the Church.

caboumelhem1,

You have shared several posts containing private revelations and or reported letters from people.
  • Unapproved private revelations should not be posted on CAF. This includes those attributed to saints. If these are approved, it would be helpful to cite who and when approved it.
  • If citing a letter from a person, cite what books you found this letter , and if the source is in union with the Church. (Imprimatur, etc)
