What ads are you seeing on CAF?

I’m not sure I follow the argument that led you to this conclusion.

Do you pay to help cover the site’s costs, and that’s why you feel entitled to access the site ad-free? I don’t see a ‘Patron’ badge on your icon.

Personally I don’t currently pay to help cover this site’s costs, and I therefore don’t feel entitled to access the site ad-free.

I’m thankful this service is provided free at all. Seeing ads doesn’t actually significantly impact my life, and I understand how their existence actually enables me to access this free content.

Spam isn’t an invasion of privacy. An invasion of privacy is something like someone reading your emails.

Also, ads aren’t spam.

Spam is something mailed directly to you, for example posted to your letterbox, or emailed to you.

Ads on a website you’re voluntarily accessing, are more like… decorations you don’t particularly fancy.

Just ignore them. Or celebrate the fun ones, like we’re doing here.

No, it’s not an invasion of your privacy, because CAF isn’t your private space. It’s a public space.
Is driving past a billboard “an invasion of your privacy”?

You’ve heard about selective hearing, well I have selective viewing. Until this thread about the ads on CAF I knew that they were there but didn’t really see them. My mind just blocked out the content. I had to actively observe them to check out which ones were popping up on my tablet. Similar thing happened when I was a child when I saw what I expected to see. This was when everyone had black and white TV, only I didn’t know that. I saw the TV as I saw the world, in color. That is until I commented to a friend’s mother about the beautiful red dress that Loretta Young wore on her show last night. She questioned how could I know the dress was red on TV since her show (and every show) was in black and white. Unfortunately her forcing reality into my young mind made me lose my private viewing of TV in color. I hope that I can continue to block the CAF ads from my consciousness now that I have been exposed to the reality of them! Just thought you’d might like a lighter perspective to this matter and hope that it’ll give you a chuckle.
 
I do not mind the ads. They are largely unobtrusive for me - just small rectangular ads spaced between posts and thread titles.
 
Lately I get the pest repellent ads with the various pictures of rodents enjoying watermelon.

#metoo. I’m not quite as blind to them as @RN69, but arranging for them to be taken away would be more trouble than it’s worth.

I only see ads that are for businesses close to my house. Hobby Lobby, Circle K - stuff like that. I think I need a digital oscilloscope, too. Thanks for posting that ad!
 
Ooh! An oscilloscope!!! I didn’t see that one either. Maybe my EE son would like one for Christmas. I recall him demonstrating how one works at one of his previous EE positions. Too big for Santa to slip into his Christmas stocking however. 😉

This is amazing! If I had a farm tractor (and a farm), I would definitely want one of these. I watched the informative video and learned how GPS technology can keep my tractor within 2 inches (5 cm) of the intended cultivation lines. Wow!

It reduces crop damage and allows higher tractor speed. That way, I can finish the farm work early, and I’ll have the rest of the day to spend on Catholic Answers Forums!
