What are some of your favorite B movies?

I liked the Flubber movies and all the Walt Disney films of the 50’s and
60’s.
Does anyone remember Summer Magic?

Pollyanna and Parent Trap were my favorite Hayley Mills films.
I loved the Saturday double matinee movies. I think they were $.50 and then the prices rose to $.75.

What a different world it was back then, especially for kids. Our biggest problem was to decide whether we wanted a chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry ice cream cone when the Good Humor truck came around.

And as for having a lottery. Bad idea. You might get all engineers and no horticulturalists. Duh! No, in a real scenario they’d choose those with certain skill sets, not leave survival of the colonists up to chance. Still, an enjoyable film if you overlook it’s prejudices and plot flaws.

I didn’t even notice the racial disparity. It was rare for any films back then to feature Blacks except in servant roles, and they usually sounded not too bright, as in Gone with the Wind, for example. Hispanics, Asians, and Native Americans weren’t even on the radar at the time except for Native people portrayed as wild savages in westerns.

yes. it was a very innocent time to grow up.

Yes, exactly. If the end of the world had come in the early 60’s, ala the movie, the only people in America that would have been considered worth saving were white Protestants with college degrees. Very narrow criteria indeed. 😛

I saw that on cable sometime in the early '90s, I think. Best thing (that I remember) was the parody of the Indiana Jones maps. 😃

Just checked and it’s available on Hulu.

Alien vs Predator. The acting is not great and the plot’s a little weak, but there’s just something so satisfying about seeing a Predator whip an Alien around by the tail…
