…wow, I heard Catholics were easily offended but jeez… Seriously, get a sense of humor people.

Or watch 7th Heaven, that usually has enough propaganda in it to satisfy.

…I’m going to agree with you on Jerry Springer though, it’s offensive to humanity as a whole.

sigh love a good period drama or book adaptation. There have been one or two exceptions of late though …

… Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park with BILLIE PIPER as Fanny? …

It is a truth universally acknowledged that it was enough to make one almost choke in a most unladylike fashion on one’s tea and scones!
Ah yes but that was ITV. They’re rubbish at period dramas 😛

I think I’ve heard of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy before. If memory serves me right, it was another one of those makeover shows only with gay guys acting as the hosts and giving fashion advice and stuff to straight guys.

I haven’t watched it much but I’m not really sure it’s 100% as horrible as you both imply. Maybe 80% or 85%. 🤷
anything that glorifies perversion is every bit as “horrible” as implied… and then some… WAY!!

Lost Wanderer:

‘It has perversion? In what way? They make really lewd comments and stuff?’

They act out in a hyper-feminine way and mock traditional masculinity. The idea is that women like more “sensitive” men who are “in touch with their feelings,” or some such. So a troupe of gay men come to give the straight guy both a physical make-over and to give him pointers about how to be more sensitive, so that he’ll appeal to his wife or girlfriend more.

I swear, it’s a ridiculous show. I do think that Thom, one of the gay guys, is pretty to look at in a, “The Mona Lisa is pretty to look at,” way, but that’s not enough to hold my interest to the show. They did make over Jay Leno’s set on the Tonight Show once and the furniture looked nice, but I never went out of my way to watch it.

My idea of a nice make over show is Extreme Makeover, Home Edition.

Anyway, I didn’t see this show mentioned anywhere:

Penn & Teller’s Bull****

On the one hand, they do tackle problems that I agree are problems, such as the ridiculous price of coffins sold to the bereved, or con artists who pose as mediums and try to talk to spirits of the dead.

On the other hand, they’re rabidly anti-Christian, being a pair of atheists, and they’ve gone out of their way to promote sex (one show was done with them clothed and everyone else in the background completely naked, males and females, with all body parts showing and nothing blanked out), profanity (they had all the producers saying the Seven Words You Can’t Say On TV at the start of the show), the afterlife (they took on Near Death Experiences as simply dreams of a shutting-down brain, followed by blankness of death, without a heaven or hell to look forward to), and Christianity itself (I refused to watch the show they did on Mother Teresa).

I’m surprised nobody mentioned this one.

Is that “Moment of Truth” show still playing? I did watch some of that for a while. It got so bad though that I was just cringing and my heart breaking for the poor spouses of the contestants and had to turn it off, never turned it back on. I would never recommend it to anyone. Sounded like a cool idea when it first came out, but in practice it is just squicky.

-edited to be a little- ok, just make that more- charitable. :o

Hmm… to be honest, the only wrong I can see in that is that it sounds overly gay (no pun intended). However, there’s some truth to that you know, at least when it comes to girls around my age (and below). Oversensitivity is a more of a fault than a good trait sure, but it really does help to be more aware of your girlfriend/wife’s feelings.

It took a break for the summer, but I think it will be back in the Fall. I can’t understand why any of these people who have these terrible secrets would volunteer to be on the show. And then they look surprised when they get asked a question, even though they were asked all the questions in advance. Why would someone want to do that to their family on public television? You’re right, though. It sounded like a good idea, but in reality it’s just Jerry Springer turned game show.

Criss Angel

Queer Eye

Bridezillas - seriously. Watching how these women treat the people in their lives is absolutly shocking and disgusting.

don’t worry Laurent-I’m a huge fan of horror( asian particularly) thrillers , chillers, Mr. Moto,Sherlock Holmes,Sci-fi and fantasy- LOTR being a favorite- and I’m a believer! ( oh- I forgot- SpongeBob)! So surprise, surprise surprise!!! God cuts us out with all kinds of different cookie cutters- to be the same and like the same would be so Boooring. Salutations & regards-a believer and Bible teacher!😃 Forgot worst shows- Extreme home makeover (misery on parade) reminds me of an old program “Queen for the Day” were people vied for prizes by reciting the miseries inflicted upon them.Any VH1 reality series- sleazorama!! and Criss angel mind freak- where some semi talented card handler buys a magical illusion and then acts like he did it all by his little self. any soap opera-day or night.Desperate Housewives daytime talk shows and Fox News!😃

actually there is plenty wrong with that show…its quite like the maury povich show…
i mean why take your problems to tv land when you can settle it with your spouse etc etc. and i hate the mentality of the show - about 80-90% of the people who go on the show end in divorce. plus the environment is terrible - you have the audience getting in on the whole scandal. and basically peer pressuring the couple to split up even though they do not know the people from a bar of soap. honestly that is garbage. id rather watch the tyra banks show than that. (even though i really dislike the tyra banks show because it is all relative)

I’m trying to come up with 3 good TV shows. . .

Thinking. . .Thinking. . .

Can’t really.

Game shows might have interesting trivia to answer or cool prizes but too often have hosts and players making lewd and crude comments, celebrate GREED, etc.

Don’t get the classic cartoons anymore (we don’t have “Boomerang!”. . .I would not give 2 cents for any of the junk on Cartoon Network.)

Disney likewise. . .once they made it ‘free’, they put on nothing but dreck. They run the same cheap ‘made for TV movies’ or the turkeys over and over every month. . .once in a blue MOON will we get a ‘success’ and even those are usually from the last 15 years. . .when was the last time they showed Bambi, Snow White, even the cartoon 101 Dalmatians?

Nickelodeon likewise just preteens and young teens who live ‘adult’ lives with no supervision, no responsibility, and no respect. . . On Disney very early morning and Nick Jr. the only halfway good series are for toddlers (Baby Einsten, Handy Manny), and they have put in so many different versions of Winnie the Pooh (each involving slightly different merchandise that kids ‘gotta have’) that he’s had more reincarnations than the Dalai Lama. . .

Broadcast TV? Forget it. The occasional music on PBS (classical), the occasional old movie gem, otherwise dreck.

Cable? History Channel is totally revisionist, maybe 1 out of 100 programs is not full of egregious error.
Discovery: WIth the exception of Mythbusters, mostly all about animal attacks, gangs, and dirty jobs. And a little Mythbusters goes a long way.
Lifetime. . .Funny, that’s what it seems like it’s been when I try to watch a half-hour program. . .

On and on.

Sometimes the GOOD classic programs are on TV Land (although it’s amazing that they ignore all but a handful of shows made before the late 80s and beyond… .) but often only late at night, or shown in a block from say 8 to 10 a.m., and then repeated (same shows) from 4 to 6 p.m., and they are always changing their lineups, just when you think, "Finally! Something I can watch at 4 p.m.! " and they’ll replace it with yet another episode of “All in the Family.”

I hate to sound snobby (especially because I know some people love shows I do not–and I think that’s fine! ) and cynical, but. . .

On the whole. . .

I would much rather read classic lit.
Game shows like Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy are totally clean. Price is right, which I can;t stand, is also.
