There is good news, or maybe there is.
With the progress of inexpensive digital video as well as the fact that the internet will soon become 10 times faster it will be possible for people just like us to produce our own movies, shows, etc.
Even now you can just put together a free blog on Google, upload your stuff on youtube and reach out to the world. it will become even better in coming years. Higher resolution, faster speeds etc.
We will see the influence of Hollywood, the mainstream media, and TV greatly diminished, its only a matter of time.
On the bad side, the more perverse aspects of our society will have a larger voice as well.
I have been thinking about making Christian influenced short movies and shows myself but I can’t find anyone to work with.
Hopefully there are Catholics out there with a good network of people that can make things like this happen.

It is the only reality TV show I can think of that I would watch… and the HighStakes Poker night too.
I do enjoy Numbers… and when I overlook the goofy acting in NCIS, I like that too.
Worst: reality shows, all soaps, much of the kids’ “cartoon” shows. (are our youth that desparate for entertainment too?)

this is really rather twisted logic… breaking one commandment to honor another… standing up for what is right means stanidng up to the one doing wrong…
i wonder if the people who produce that show just want to send a message… something like: See how confusing & inconsistent and illogical Christianity can be??

She didn’t break one, I think the point is that she avoided breaking the commandment in a way that still allowed her to honor her parents. She therefore kept them both.

what about shows such as Extreme Makeover Home Edition? these shows portray the christian values of helping families who are going through roughs spots on their lives…One can say, every network except EWTN.Seriously, I can not even name one sitcom that is on today. I dont even watch network tv and especially at night.

Family Guy wins as the worst show ever… ughhh I hate it beyond words (My DH insists on watching it and it makes me want to stab my eyeballs out)
America’s Next Top Model is second on my list. Lets glorify superficiality, shall we? You could put all the contestants together and my 7 week old baby would still be smarter. And I want to kill Tyra Banks. Well okay, not actually. But I’d like to see her get really fat or something…
Rounding out my list is Maury Povich (my DH also insists on watching this much to my dismay) “I slept with 17 guys and don’t know which one fathered my child” gets old after a while…
I also want to give honourable mention to Bugs Bunny and friends .All the characters on those cartoons are terribly obnoxious.

Why you dissin’ on Keith?For me, Countdown with Keith Olbermann is without a doubt, THE WORST PROGRAM I’ve ever seen. Talk about bias! For all those far-Left “creatures” who whine about having balance in talk shows, this program has absolutely NONE. He’s an ex-catholic atheist comedian, he pushes the gay agenda, loves to talk about drug use, makes fun of the Pope (called him a Nazi), had had both Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchins on his show, hates America, and is just a general jerk. It’s on HBO.
Most shows are not only offensive, but so stupid that they are unwatchable. Even watching football with my son, here comes an ad for Levitra or Viagra.
The worst ads are the ones for YAZ birth control pills - it’s so hip and cool, even the name is cool. Or the one for the birth control patch with the woman who’s too dumb to remember to take a birth control pill everyday (but apparently can remember to fornicate).

i haven’t seen it. What is the worst thing about it…?
that is why i rarely watch TV… it all seems to glorify superficiality… Even the science shows… this one was talking about the benefits of drinking red wine… Ok, fine… but the whole idea is to live as long as possible… this guy said you would have to drink (I thik) a 100 bottles 2 get the effects they got from giving this concentrated form to mice… good grief… Only the unregenerate want to “liive forever”… because ths world is all they see (want??)… Actually, if they are honest, they know this world is not enough for them… but they dont’ want to find that Something (Someone) that makes life worthwhile… (might have to give up something?)…

She spends a few minutes talking about how certain she is that ONE of them is the daddy… they talk about what a wh*^*^re she is… they flash a pic of a beautiful innocent child who deserves so much better than that mess and then the results are read - usually there is some chest thumping, crying, running off stage etc. When none of them test postive, Maurey offers to test 3 more “or however many it takes.” Then the next group of is hauled on stage & the whole thing is repeated.
THAT is supposed to be entertaining? It’s pathetic and so sad.

Ugh…They are supposed to be a Catholic Family, yet they are TOTALLY not. The devout Catholic father is made out to be a total jerk.
All sorts of nastyness is approved in it.
There are some funny bits, but overall the show is horrendous. I’d rather not waste my time with its crude humor
