You still haven’t read my passages yet. They are about living for Christ and turning away from our sin nature.
I believe Jesus Christ to be my Lord and Saviour who died on the cross for my sins. He paid the penalty for my sins. Now that He is my Lord I live my life in a way that pleases Him not my own sinful desires.
Here are a few verses to back up what I am saying:
John 3:16 “For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have ever lasting life”
Romans 3:21-22. “But now God has shown us away to be made right with Him without keeping the requirements of the law, as in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everone who believes, no matter who we are.”
Paul uses Abraham as an example of faith in Romans 4:3 “For the scriptures tell us, ‘Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.’”
Romans 5:2 "Because of our faith, Christ as brought us into this place of undeserved privelige where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look foward to sharing God’s glory.
Romans 10:8(second half)-9 “And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Galations 5:5 “But we who live by the Spirit eagerly wait to receive by faith the righteousness God has promised us.”
Ephesians 2:8 “God saved you by grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.”
Hebrews 11:9 “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to God must believe that God exits and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him”
1 Peter 1:5 “And through your faith, God is protecting you by His power until you receive this salvation which is ready to be revealed to you on the last day for all to see.”
1 Peter 1:8-9 “You love Him even though you have never seen Him. Though you do not see Him now you trust Him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting in Him will be the salvation of your souls’”
1 John 5:1 “Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has become a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves His children too”
Just so you know what faith actually is I will give you the following verse:
Hebrews 11:1 “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”
To show you that Jesus in John 6 was talking metaphorically, read where eternal life comes from in the following verse:
1 Peter 1:23 “For you have been born again, but not in a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last for ever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.”
It is the word of God.
