Maybe? Some saints had the gift of perfect chastity like the Blessed Virgin Mary but she is special. If I remember correctly Saint Faustina received it. I think people don’t know how to pray well in order to get graces like this. Not to mention there are things like motives and perserverance and faith to consider.
This whole notion of “praying well” looks a bit like Pelagianism, to me. By all means, we need to avail ourselves of God’s grace in our lives, and prayer opens us to God’s grace. But “I’m not praying well enough” is just another way that people can feel guilty for not doing something that it is impossible for them to do – since it is impossible for us to save ourselves, or (with certainty) change anything about ourselves except our moral decisions. Our impulses or temptations are not moral decisions, thus only God can reliably change them.

You hit the nail on the head “Not all gay people are working for the homosexual agenda”. Remaining chaste - not chasing for recognition as one with homosexual attraction and demanding others “respect and accept” that. It is the obsessive demonstrating and practicing that requires limitations and exclusion.

This picture should not be used for such disrespect of a good man that does not deserve to be exploited. “Tell that to this guy…” An apology and removal of the following posts revealing his name and declaring a sexual description should be demanded by everyone who knows him. Pretending praise and suggesting his martyr and sainthood to reduce the damaging calumny and slander is glaring.

There’s fairly strong evidence, including entries in his diary written in his own hand, that Father Mychal experienced SSA. Recognizing that is in no way disrespectful.

No need to get all worked up. And no need to ever use words like “calumny” unless you’re an affronted gentleman from the 1700s about to challenge someone to a duel.

#1. “fairly strong evidence” = why not believe in the tooth fairy!

#2. Read the dictionary - calumny is a word describing gossip of another, revealing a personal failing that the gossiper learned about an individual, and reveals to bring them disgrace and shame. It is a sin as recognized by Catholic teaching that could use a lot more attention by today’s behavior.

#3. In some cases, imagining a duel can be rather satisfying. (that’s a joke)

Because there isn’t fairly strong evidence for the tooth fairy.

And i know what the word means, it’s just archaic and makes you sound kind of silly.

I should worry about sounding kind of silly when your handle is “BoomBoomMancini”. Right…

How dare you, good sir. My second shall call upon your second. Pistols at dawn!

Some ways of obtaining grace are more effective than others.

No.

I have nothing but respect and admiration for Father Judge. And my admiration is not pretended. Far from it. I have nothing to apologize for. I certainly didn’t show any disrespect for Father Judge, and the suggestion that I did is offensive. I won’t require an apology from you, but you should know that.

If anyone should apologize, it’s those who would suggest that this man was unfit to be a priest. That is disrespect.

I didn’t suggest sainthood for him. Not my call. If someone did, I’m sure that person has his or her reasons.

I watched those towers fall, and not on TV. I was in the WTC for the '93 attack. I know how heroic the New York Fire Department was, including their chaplain (along with the NYPD and the PA cops and any number of others).

God is not a vending machine and we will receive what God sees as best for our eternal souls, not grant us our worldly wishes.
God is Our loving Father and He tells us that we must pray without ceasing; from prayers of adoration and thanksgiving to prayers of petition and reparation for all sorts of things; many things that God will grant us are dependent upon us specifically asking for them; so don’t be afraid to ask, and ask big, but always ask for what is good, especially good for your soul; some things will only be granted if you ask for them; God may very well grant it; but if you don’t pray for it, then those things may never come your way, it’s just that simple. Jesus always prayed before he did anything, thus we must also. For example, that’s why you pray for a safe trip,
or to find a job, thus Jesus said: ASK and you will receive, SEEK and you will find, KNOCK and the door will be opened to you. The problem is maybe at people don’t have trust and are afraid to God is not listening.

Paul prayed and asked for his thorn to be removed, and God said “no” in his particular case for him to remain humble; asking for graces for purity of mind is not a bad thing nor is it treating God like a “vending machine” . There are plenty of prayers for purity of mind; thus if one has a strong unbearable attraction toward immoral thoughts, pornography etc. you do well to pray for purity and a mindset that sees men and women as children of God, not bodies to lust at…

“Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; 6a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him.’ And suppose the one inside answers, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is already locked, and my children and I are in bed. I can’t get up and give you anything.’ I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacitye he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.

“So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

“Which of you fathers, if your son asks forf a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”- Luke 11:5-11

I understand about perseverance in prayer, but there are a lot of people out there who say that if you pray for something and don’t get it, it means you didn’t pray with enough faith, not that God thought it was better for the pray-er not to get it…

I do not hear this much from Catholics, but I have heard this from others, so i think it is important to be very clear this is not at all what we are saying when we bring up the promises of Mary and that sort of thing.

Your story is all fine and good. You admired Fr. Judge - nobody should cast any aspersions onto this good man. The picture was brutal and the comment below it was not loving or appropriate. The further references to Father have no place in a discussion of LGBT desires for vocations in the Church. None of that is held in his fond memory and is harmful.
Will take your word that you did not mean disrespect nor a ploy for advancing an agenda.

but there are a lot of people out there who say that if you pray for something and don’t get it, it means you didn’t pray with enough faith
It was Jesus who lamented the weak faith of his disciples. Peter began to sink when he doubted. Often the problem is that people pray without faith, starting with doubts that God will even answer one’s prayer.

Obviously if what you are asking for is not spiritually good for you, forget about God saying yes. Prayers of petition are ALWAYS answered, and sometimes the answer is no. Again, ask for what is good, especially for what is spiritually good for yourself and your fellow man. Ask as a child asks a father; if you pray with faith, God hears you; He May say YES. He may say NO, or He may say “WAIT—I HAVE SOMETHING BETTER”.

It was the strong faith of people that marveled Christ; about he faith of the Roman centurion, Christ said: “I tell you, not even in Israel have I found such faith”. Jesus was always chiding his disciples’ weak faith.

Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

A prayer asking for help to not look at people of the same sex in a disordered way, but as children of God who are made for a purpose; that prayer, if asked with faith and sincerity along with the effort involved with changing one’s own mindset from a worldly one to a spiritual one, yes God is likely to say YES. And keep in mind that your prayers are much more likely to get a YES if you have a Holy person asking on your behalf, such as THE MOTHER OF GOD. After all, Jesus turned 150 gallons of water into wine because of His mother; I doubt He would have performed the miracle if anyone else had asked…

The promises of the Holy Rosary are real promises, if what you ask is spiritually good for you… Obviously you have to be sincerely seeking God’s will and in the state of grace, or desiring to be in the state of grace when you speak to God about favors. Prayer is a dialogue with God; so it has to be sincere and made with humility; as God does not listen to the proud…

You adulterous people,a don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us ? But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. -James 4:4-10

Indeed, there is no proof. But the point is that we don’t need proof. What we need to understand is that it is not a choice nor it is a sin. I do not understand, I being a Catholic believe and follow what my Pope says. Why do you guys have different opinions than the Pope. Do you think yourself more knowledgeable than him?

So I got a question for you then. What if there would be a greater net spiritual good for the SSA person to continue struggling with their SSA? Or is that impossible?

No. Being sexually attracted to children is a psychiatric disorder. It is like an Alzheimer’s disease, “a disease”. (Read Pedophilia and its causes). Being gay is not a disease. Also it is not a choice and it is not a sin.
