“Knowing God the Father through the Old Testament” by Christopher Wright. I’ve already read his other two on Jesus and the Holy Spirit, so I figured I’d finish the trilogy.

In addition to whichever books I’m reading, I also have one for the whole year with short daily readings. This year, that book is “Bread for the Journey; A Daybook of Wisdom and Faith,” by Henri J. M. Nouwen.

Last year, it was “Benedictus; Day by Day with Pope Benedict XVI” from Magnificat & Ignatius Press. I just found my book for next year at our parish’s used book store, “Praying with St. Luke’s Gospel; Daily Reflections on the Gospel of Saint Luke,” also from Magnificat.

Robert M. Haddad - 1001 Reasons Why it’s Great To Be Catholic!

This is a nice antidote to all the scandal and negativity.

I’m reading several right now. 1984 by George Orwell, It Can’t Happen Here by Sinclair Lewis, The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander. SO far the three I’m reading are amazing and very informative, especially in todays modern world.

I have two books I’m working on now; Dr. Scott Hahn’s “The First Society” and “The River of Doubt” by Candice Millard.

Both are good. Though I really like another book by Millard, “Hero of the Empire” about Winston Churchill and pretty much anything by Hahn is a home run.

I am currently reading Unlimited Power by Anthony Robbins. It is actually and old book, first published back in 1986.

Dangerous Mystic; Meister Eckhart’s Path to the God Within, by Joel F. Harrington

The case for Catholicism by Trent Horn. Great book. Easy to read. About 340 pages. I have about 40 more pages to go. Gives great answers for pretty much most Protestant objections to our faith.

Many Thousands Gone: The First Two Centuries of Slavery in North America by Ira Berlin and The Mass of Brother Michel by Michael Kent.
If anyone is keeping in touch with Exiled Child or Bonnie (who is from Deer Park) they would be thrilled to know that The Mass of Brother Michel is back in print.
I found it at the link below where purchase price may help to support one of our priestly fraternities.

The Ghost of Melody Lane
written in 1933 by Lilian Garis

The main character is a young woman who supports her family (father and sister) during the Great Depression as a theater organist! The mystery involves her organ teacher’s pipe organ.
