Here is a more recent recreation from the Shroud of Turin. Perhaps Jesus was darker, since He was a manual laborer. There are very many paintings we have of Him now that I feel adequately represent Him as a Mediterranean first century Jew, with tan to somewhat dark skin and brown-black hair, with a beard and long hair.

It’s probably one of the least important things to worry about. The image that has been traditionally handed down (especially seen in icons) are wonderful, and I see no reason to reject those.

Here is my favorite, a more modern (restoration of a 17th-18th century) image of Christ. Jesus is Lord.

Edit: if you look up ‘Ray Downing Shroud Recreation’ you may be able to find the techniques used. Here’s a youtube video: youtube.com/watch?v=2N9NPuxCjXg

Daniel 10:5-6

King James Version (KJV)

5 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:

6 His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his** arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass**, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.

Brass is golden - not brown.

Matthew 13:55-56

King James Version (KJV)

55 Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?

56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?

Jesus Had Blood sisters and Blood brothers.

Mary got pregnant before getting married.

Four of these are well known Jewish people (with beards, and when they were in their 30s or thereabouts). The top one is a construct put together from evidence (and some guesswork) gathered from the Shroud of Turin. The last one looks like I’d imagine the lost facecloth of Veronica might. As Jesus’ ancestor David was described as “ruddy” or red - the hair being reddish interested me. 🤷

There are some varying Jewish looks to be sure. More than shown here.

Fine Brass is Brown
New or polished brass is a metal alloy, and the color varies from a light, bright “yellowish” to a moderately dark “reddish” color, depending on the ratio of elements in the alloy

As brass is allowed to weather (be exposed to oxygen, moisture and atmospheric gases) it changes color to a deeper brown.

The passage you quoted said POLISHED brass.

Um… how many Semitic men of the time had golden hair and blue eyes? I would guess none?

So I guess the Shroud is a hoax?
If the Shroud is a hoax, the image had to go onto the cloth by a natural process. That is if you believe the Shroud is a hoax.

I believe the Shroud is authentic and shows us Jesus at the time of his death and resurrection. There is much evidence to support this and absolutely no evidence I have ever heard to support a hoax.

The blood on the Shroud is completely from exudates - in other words, all the blood on the Shroud exuded onto the Shroud from a human corpse. That’s a fact as identified by Alan Adler, a world-renown blood chemist. From this we know for a fact: 1) the blood on the Shroud came from a corpse & 2) the blood went on the linen cloth first, then the body because there is no image under the blood. The blood is AB human.

The image itself is a dehydration of the carboxyl-structure of the linen itself, like it aged or oxidized more quickly where the image is than where the image is not. Further, the coloration of the image is only on the very surface fibers of the linen and each cell of the linen is only colored on one side of the tube-shaped cell. The image was not made from paints, dyes, scorching or anything like that. When the cloth is back-lit, one can see the burn holes, patches, blood stains and any other irregularities but one cannot see the image. This proves the image was not formed by adding any substance to the Shroud.

As for a Scriptural visual identification of the Messiah, see Isaiah 53:2. And he shall
grow up as a tender plant before him, and as a root out of a thirsty ground: there is no
beauty in him, nor comeliness: and we have seen him, and there was no pleasing
appearance, that we should be desirous of him: (DRCR)

This image is a computer enhanced image of 3D modelling done by Dr. Petrus Soons showing the actual brightness model in vertical relief. The brightness equates to height and depth. There is no other image like this in the world. You can see it here: shroudnm.com/img/3D-ShroudFaceEC.jpg

“While reviewing the evidence of the Shroud in 1999, Dr. Gilbert Lavoie presented another intriguing discovery, that the body had light blond hair.”

There is another physical description of Jesus in a letter by Pontious Pilot in which Jesus has “golden colored hair” and “blue” eyes. In 1964, a tablet from Pontius Pilate to Tiberius Caesar was recovered in a archeological find (a copy of this letter is in the Congressional Library in Washington, D.C.) which describes Jesus’ physical appearance. It describes Jesus as having golden colored hair.

Gilbert Lavoie is a medical doctor, not a shroud expert…nor can it be determined what color hair Jesus had from the shroud. The suppossed letters from Publius Lentulus and Pontius Pilate are both frauds…as any serious historian can quickly point out. I believe the Shroud of Turin to be authentic…your interpretation that Jesus somehow had blond hair and blue eyes just doesn’t get support from any of the evidence.

Not sure why, but the Catholic Encyclopedia says he is a fictitious person, but the Encyclopedia Britannica has a whole bio on him.

As curule aedile, Lentulus in 63 helped Cicero suppress Catiline’s conspiracy to overthrow the government. He was praetor in 60 and with Caesar’s aid became governor of the province of Nearer Spain in 59. As consul in 57 he worked to recall Cicero from exile and to restore his property to him. Lentulus governed Cilicia from 56 to 53. Despite his debt to Caesar, he joined the Pompeians in 49. Captured at the battle of Corfinium (Italy), he was granted clemency by Caesar, but he subsequently again went over to Pompey. After Pompey was decisively defeated at Pharsalus, Thessaly, in 48, Lentulus escaped to Rhodes; soon thereafter he fell into Caesar’s hands and was executed.
The Publius Lentulus who suppossedly wrote a letter describing Jesus was never real. He was suppossedly the procurator of Judea before Pilate…and is complete fiction. There were several fairly notable Romans named Publius Lentulus…you’ve named one above…others also existed. During the reign of Augustus one was Consul of Rome…but never anywhere near Judea or Jesus.

Quote. He would have had to be very “ordinary” (no striking or atypical features) because otherwise the Romans would not have needed Judas to reveal to them who Jesus was.Quote

Amazing point; I would never have thought of that.
It wasn’t the Romans to whom Judas betrayed Jesus…they were temple guards not Roman legions…but that just makes the point even more valid…the temple guards didn’t recognize Jesus…he wasn’t all that striking of a figure.
