Catherine of Sienna was ignored by the pope, cardinals, bishops in her quest for reform…yet she persevered and did not lose her trust in the Lord.
I don’t believe Martin became a Catholic Priest to split from the church but did his best to oppose evil and wrong and it is natural to divide yourself from the group you are opposing. Yes - I do think it better to heal the group and try to change from within. We are living in times where that is made possible. Thank you for sharing with me.
The point is…do not lose your trust on the Lord…and reform the Church…not disobey…as pointed out by this passage:
1 Samuel 15:22-23
22 But Samuel replied:
“Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices
as much as in obeying the Lord?
To obey is better than sacrifice,
and to heed is better than the fat of rams.
23 For rebellion is like the sin of divination,
and arrogance like the evil of idolatry.
Because you have rejected the word of the Lord,
he has rejected you as king.”
Of what good are one’s intentions if they are borne of the disobedience of the Lord? or cause a split of the Lord’s body?
