What do witches/sorcerers deserve now?

witches/sorcerers include fortune tellers, ghost eliminators etc
 
Do you mean fortune-tellers who actually think they can tell fortunes, or could you be including the person who fakes it for the money?
 
Is this for real? If it is, they need prayers, not a bar-b-q in their honor.

some here in China think they can really tell the fortune
some for money
others for their sadistic need
 
You seem to be talking civil penalties that would be imposed by the State. Hmm. Then it would depend on factors like the extent of damage caused to the citizens of the state, whether or not the person could be re-educated, intent to harm, etc.

In the good ol’ USA, they would have to be guilty of fraud or violation of sanitation laws by killing chickens or somesuch to get a punishment. Simply being a witch (or believing you are one) is no crime here (that I know of). Is it in China?

For example, if a person claimed to be able to rid the neighborhood of some disease or problem if everyone gave him their life savings and he performed some phoney ritual and left town, well, he deserves a large punishment for hurting so many people with the fraud.

Actually ritual sacrafice of animals is allowed in the US. Santaria, VooDoo and other neo-pagans are allowed to kill animals for their rituals.
 
I guess being a witch breaks the law but doesn’t constitute a crime(so is adultery) in China. The official punishment is a fine if no serious bodily harm occured. But since so many law enforcement officials believe in witchcraft, it’s rarely imposed.

Yes. However, I’m willing to bet if it is in a building in a city, they still would have to follow various regulations involving disposal, etc. So I was thinking that they might be prosecuted in the rare case that they failed to comply with such regulations.

If they dispose of the blood down the drain or eat the chickens, for all I know the city requires their drain to have a grease trap, just like a restaurant. Cities are prone to that sort of thing.

Just like here the fire department desired that we handle the candles differently at Easter Vigil. I don’t know if they just strongly recommended that change or if it was a law.

taking money for fortune-tellings is supposed to be against the law, but apparently the 900 number people do it with impunity. threatening harm, whether by casting a spell or refusing to lift a spell, for financial gain is extortion, and is a crime punishable by law.

That would not be forms of witchcraft, that would be forms of fraud claiming to be witchcraft.

I know very few real witches that sell their “services” at all. IMO, all these dial-a-fortune tellers and those sitting out on the beach or whereever are just doing it for the money and probably are lying or pretending. Please, tell me what fraud I have committed? I do not pretend to tell fortunes for money, I do not sell “curses” or “cures” or “spells”. I do not claim to be able to heal any disease.

If a person, regardless of religion, breaks the law → stealing, killing, fraud, etc. they deserve to be punished, but not just based on their religion or practices.

Please, tell me, what are you going to do to me? Come find me and burn me at the stake? 😃 Then you would deserve punishment for murder.
 
They dont deserve Gods Grace and the Gift of salvation and neither do we but the fact is Christ came to save ALL and that includes them. He loves the worst sinner as well as the best christian. 😉

Fr. Amorth who is the Pope’s Exorcist writes that there is no such thing as “white magic”. It is all from Satan. But they can and do have an effect upon their clients.

These same people exist in Europe too. Since they try to extort as much money as they can, I would like a law that makes taking money or property for supernatural “helps” illegal. The penalty would be prison time.

Chances are in most cases these people aren’t real “witches” and are only doing it for the money. In that case I agree that it would would fraud and therefore illegal. But it’s no different than any other fraud.
