What do you think about the New Roseanne TV show?

I stopped watching after a few seasons. I’d sometimes catch an episode, and then I’d see an episode in syndication.

Here’s the episode regarding the lottery:

I remember by the time that Darlene had her baby prematurely, they were wealthy and could fly in specialists from all over the world. Which was odd, they could have airlifted the baby to any NICU in the US.

I enjoyed the early seasons, as there was a certain relatability coming from a working class family myself. The later seasons weren’t the same. One episode I remember in particular was Darlene reciting this poem:

Oh wow! That was so me!

.

Thank you. I don’t like the Conners wealthy! It’s just “not them.”

Darlene is on the show. She has 2 children (Harris and Mark). Becky is going to be a surrogate mother. DJ married the black girl he refused to kiss in school. And they now have a daughter.

All of the original cast is back and Becky #2 is now a new character, Andrea. So she’s back too. The actor who played Becky’s husband, Mark, died in RL. I’m glad Darlene named her son after him… Darlene’s ex, David, even makes an appearance. Since Johnny Galecki is now on The Big Bang Theory, I don’t know if it was a one time guest appearance or whether there will be more.

The series has already been renewed for a second season. I’m so glad it’s on ABC rather than going to Netflix like the Full House spinoff did. Not gonna pay for Netflix just to watch reboots of fav series.

I watched it. It was funny, but also kind of sad, in the way that the world has developed since her last show… what problems they wish to put a lens on and try to laugh about now (else we’d cry). The somewhat queer boy, the economical issues, the prescription meds, the daughter living at home, etc…

Not a fan, so won’t watch, though I do like John Goodman. Even though I don’t like it, at least it’s a clean show, with a faithful husband and wife, who love each other and try to be good parents. And maybe grandparents on the new show. So, glad they are bringing that back rather than some disgusting thing filled with sexual innuendo and marital disrespect.
They have a grandchild who is “gender nonconforming” and their oldest daughter is planning to be a surrogate to earn money.

As for Roseanne herself, the woman engages in spreading Alex Jones-esque conspiracy theories. It would take a direct order from God for me to support the reincarnation of her show.

Wasn’t a fan of the original show so there is not much to draw me to Roseanne 2,0

Thank you, but I’ve never heard of Alex Jones. I can’t think of any major network shows that do conform to Catholicism, and most, e.g., “Suits,” “Friends,” and especially “Will and Grace” are far more odious than “Roseanne” - to me - so I avoid the “Big Four” networks almost altogether.

Well, here’s a quick education:
Jones has been the center of many controversies, including his promotion of Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting conspiracy theories, and his aggressive opposition to gun control in a debate with Piers Morgan. He has accused the U.S. government of being involved in the Oklahoma City bombing, the September 11 attacks, and the filming of fake Moon landings to hide NASA’s secret technology.
He also thinks Hurricane Irma was created as a weather weapon, and claims that white genocide exists. Supporting anyone who spreads the theory that the Sandy Hook massacre was faked is icky, to put it mildly.

As far as the other programs you mentioned, why watch any of them?

Thank you. Alex Jones then, clearly doesn’t live in reality.

My point was: There is no point in watching almost any TV show. Some news programs are even becoming X-rated. Or at least R. And most movies seem compelled to include one pointless sex scene. It’s getting so I only go to the kid’s movies like “Happy Feet,” “Rio,” and “Despicable Me” which I really enjoyed, by the way.

The Hallmark channel is great during the Christmas season at least. It’s not religious, but warm/fuzzy hallmark card material. A guilty pleasure for me lol…

I understand. All too well.

I didn’t even know Dan died in the show! Goodness! I hate it when that happens on a comedy show! I haven’t been paying much attention to it when the reruns are on. Less that I even thought. I’m sure, though, they had a baby in the first series. Now I want the show to come back so Dan can be alive!

It must be a dream as you said, Lily, because in the ads for the new show, Roseanne is rolling over in bed, looks at Dan, and says, “You’re alive!” or something similar.
The series had two endings. In Season 9 the Conners win the lottery and Dan cheats on his wife (emotional affair, no consummation, but it still ripped her heart out). The final episode erases Season 9 by claiming Roseanne fixed all their problems in fiction because she couldn’t save Dan in real life. She invented an affair because she was so angry at him for leaving her (i.e. dying). (Here’s an essay I did on that … scroll down to the Roseanne section. Now they went and erased that timeline too!)

But I was surprised that Roseanne-the-performer and Roseanne-the-character voted for the same guy. No way I would have seen that coming. Given a choice between Mrs. Wellman and Mr. Favor (two characters Roseanne-the-character disliked), I didn’t think she’d pick Favor. I figured she’d just not vote. (my 2 cents)

[EDIT: the pre-show publicity claims that Roseanne and Jackie will open their own pot shop. Between that, and Roseanne-the-character’s bio as a hippie in the Sixties, I figured the character would have voted Green Party, if anyone. So yes, the character and the performer definitely have drifted apart as Roseanne-the-performer became successful.]

As for the baby, Roseanne’s baby was said to be a girl when the amnio came back messed up. When the baby was born they made it a boy, Jerry Garcia Conner, to match Roseanne’s real-life boy baby. Darlene’s dangerously premature baby girl, Harris Conner Healy, was a separate baby who really was born in Season 9, but with all the other plot details written as fantasy.

I actually haven’t seen the new series yet.

the very last episode of the “old series” was roseanne waking up from a dream

dan was dead, there was no lottery win: and as for the reality of the children, sister jackie, etc; no one could’ve been sure

i like the reboot
