It was a good series. Dan and Roseanne seemed to have a strong, loving marriage, and they were good parents.

i’ve heard that they like each other in real life

there was/is quite a bit of chemistry between them

I stopped watching before the show jumped the shark (the lottery/dream thing…oh and the Becky thing) and Rosanne Barr’s treatment of the National Anthem was the nail in the coffin.

Haven’t you guys seen Barr dressed as a Nazi taking burnt gingerbread men cookies out of the oven? 😬🤢

Yes, there sure is! I really liked it that neither Dan nor Roseanne yelled and screamed at each other unless the other really messed up, which was rare. In some shows, the wife is always screaming and angry. Dan and Roseanne seemed yo really respect each other. I liked and admired that.

yeah, they did the best they could with what they had in their simple blue collar existence

no real success; no total failure

a metaphor for everyday life

i am glad we are getting the “follow on” story;

not like there is anything better to watch on TV…

“Rosanne” who is she?

don’t be such a spoilsport

the real “Roseanne” has had personal issues & troubles;

unlike you, i guess…

this is a fictional TV show; lighten up, ensign…

I saw one episode that was hilarious. Dan and Roseanne went to welcome some new neighbors, and the house was laid out exactly like theirs, but decorated gorgeously, with very expensive things. They even had a dishwasher, and Roseanne said, “She has my dishwasher!” Of course, Roseanne didn’t have one. 🤣

i thought the final episodes of the old series reminded me of the end of a novel that could’ve been written by Fyodor Dostoevsky

Well, here’s a quick education
Note, that particular Alex Jones is not to be confused with the (late) Alex Jones who was a high profile Catholic convert who brought a sizeable chunk of his Pentecostal congregation along with him when he converted.

I know for a while I was confused by the conflicting things I kept hearing about “Alex Jones” until I realized they were two different people.

As for Roseanne, I doubt I will watch it. I watched the first several seasons back in the day, but lost interest when I got to high school. I appreciate that they aren’t afraid to tackle tough issues, but I don’t particularly feel like sitting through the socially liberal stuff.

I do find it interesting that there is a trend to revive shows that have been off the air for decades. “X Files”, “Will & Grace”, and now “Roseanne” are all getting extra seasons all this time later. It makes me think of the possibilities of bringing back so many TV shows I used to like, particularly the ones with less than satisfying conclusions.

I never saw the Nazi thing, but she’s Jewish… I think maybe this was probably more of a Charlie Chaplin thing, when he dressed up as Hitler (he’s also Jewish).

I knew another Jewish guy who had Nazi clothes too. I guess the only way to cope is to mock it.

I said she was dressed like a Nazi. She was wearing an SS uniform. And did you miss the oven part and burnt cookies? Do I need to spell out what that is referring to?

I know she’s Jewish. The magazine allegedly did this to see if the holocaust was ever funny. Since the mag went out of business I’m thinking the answer is no. There are somethings that are so horrific that nothing will make them funny.

I didn’t watch any of it. And don’t attack me. I’m just saying it’s common among Jewish comedians. I’m trying to understand the psychology behind it myself. Starting with Chaplin, and I think Hogan’s Heroes…

They reminded me of episodes that could’ve been written by the writers of “Dallas.”

What attack? I corrected your suggestion I was wrong. Good grief.

I’ll just say you’re impatient then. It makes me feel like my back’s against the wall. I was just trying to figure her out.

There are plenty of Jews who didn’t find it funny.

That’s true… but it’s still common among Jewish comedians. I’m not going to say it isn’t. It’s not that I like it either. It’s an oddity that I’d like to figure out.

Here’s a recent one of Sarah Silverman, criticizing Trump:
