What do you think of climate change?

Name calling may make you feel good, but it does degrade the respect you might otherwise get for your reasoned debate, such as it is.
I only did so to parody the message I was responding to,
notice you didn’t berate that poster 😉

Best you examine your standards.

Some here seem totally oblivious to this administration’s reversing of so many of the EPA mandates., including the issue of greater CO2 emissions that are now being allowed:
Nope, Obama saved most of his mandates till he was leaving office. The majority of mandates reversed by Trump hadn’t actually been implemented and were untenable in practice.

Excellent post. I try as hard as I can to be a good steward of our Earth, but a few years ago I posted an article on social media which stated that hormonal birth control pills and condoms, along with synthetic HRT causes problems in our water as you said…
And I got a ton of hate from my liberal friends and relatives. Sad to say I deleted the post it was that bad. I learned don’t mess with liberals birth control and abortion.
And these are the same people that want me to quit using plastic straws and stop eating meat, and want to implement a carbon tax.
But it’s the truth, Delphinus you are correct. The RCC is correct on these issues.
it’s the truth whether we like it or not.

Re the last article linked: Pope Francis intentions may be good here, but I am afraid that this could be abused by those whose worldviews are not informed by Judeo Christianity.
It could become quite totalitarian.

God created the Universe. The Universe is structured through science’s laws, also created by God. The laws of science therefore are created by God and hence Truth, just as much as the Word is the Truth. Scientists are just objectively discovering truth. We will look stupid if we continue to deny the validity of the science indicating that we are destroying God’s creation, our Earth.

Saint Augustine said “If they find a Christian mistaken in a field which they themselves know well and hear him maintaining his foolish opinions about our books, how are they going to believe books in matters concerning the resurrection of the dead, the hope of eternal life, and the kingdom of heaven, when they think their pages are full of falsehoods on facts which they themselves have learnt from experience and the light of reason?”

OK, so I post an article from a non-partisan source that shows Trump’s undermining of the EPA, only to be told by someone that this isn’t really happening but posts no link to prove as such. So, this tells me that some simply elevate their unfounded opinions to become their “alternative facts”, as Kellyanne Conway called them, while ignoring that which is clearly happening with the Trump administration’s actions. How does one have a serious discussion with those who do this? This is why I really don’t any longer engage directly with them.

It is not “the science” that is being denied, rather what is rejected is the portrayal of “the science” as having proved a great deal more than it actually has. “The science” does not in fact show that AGW is true.

Maybe actually check out the NAS website on this. Why that’s important should be obvious if one actually understands the NAS and its role.

Then maybe check out the NASA website.

“Oh, c’mon, typical Anti-Industrialist Justice Warrior _________.
When Wilson hunted those poor rabbits in Don’t Starve, did anyone think that was wrong? Did anyone complain about the poor animals?
When Steve built himself a hut to survive the creepers, did anyone write articles decrying his destruction of a block planet? Of course they didn’t. They went and featured him in articles too and sold masks of his face to kids.
But if I create a mile-spanning factory that creates massive clouds of toxic smog, ravage the landscape with massive automatic miners and trains and automatically build thousands of depleted-uranium turrets to more efficiently exterminate the local fauna while I burn down entire forests to make more room for my nuclear weapons processing area, I’m the bad guy?”

PS one other thing,… going forward religious skeptic/deniers of AGW should expect a little bit more pressure to change their tune

huh?!

I point out a catholic news item that mentions the pope AND you link to something about a,… Failed Assassination Attempt?!

FWIW in the article link you shared, one comment mentioned

Exactly who is calling this a failed assassination attempt? Roy Spencer certainly didn’t. The shots were fired over the weekend, which would be really stupid timing if it were an assassination attempt.

since the article link you shared mentioned shots fired,… related to conspiracies?!

…We know that the Democrats and globalists [BELIEVE IN AGW AND] want our guns and they will never give up pushing for new laws, no matter how seemingly innocuous, to further their quest

given human nature seems WRT CC,… personal emotions and feelings about an issue are valued more than the scientific method
I have tried to point out the hard science of AGW (from the OP of this long thread) as well as the important role of the pope francis,… yet over and over again there are murmurings of mistrust

given a tendency for bias w/ in human nature,… have to agree w/ the pope and his idea of ecological sins

That was in response to your comment that skeptics “should expect a little bit more pressure”. @Theo520 posted another example of “pressure”.

The “hard science” you refer to is much softer than you imagine. Model predictions are not hard science. Nor is there a role for the church in such matters.

If you are referring to climate change as the changes of temperature of the earth do to certain gases or other events .

Yes it’s true the fossil and geological record prove it.
From the glaciation of the ordovician and devonian extinction

From the dinosuars and Forrest of Antarctica.

From inland seas such the thetys and the western interior sea way .

As to why the apes evolved out of Africa .

Climate change is very much real .

Even in history things like the little optimum and the mini ice age prove it .

If you are referring to we humans altering the climate .

We humans are altering the climate and we are driving speciea to extinction now its no where near mass extinction levels of the big 5 ( ordovician , devonian , permianz trassic, Cretaceous)
But we should at least try to find a solution to it before it reaches those levels.

Those changes of Climate dwarfs anything currently occuring - even over the past c.10,000 years

Even then - Earth has witnessed several COLD EVENTS over the past c.8,200 years which greatly impacted upon Life - including that of humans - the last being ‘the little ice age’

POINT? Never underestimate the power of Mamma Nature!

According to our own Department of Defense here in the States, they project that as many as two billion people will be heavily affected negatively by climate change, so aren’t they important or do we just blow them off?

True I mean in the periman global warming reached 6 °C + in most of the world while some others it was 10+ resulting in the biggest mass exctintion of all time .

The ordovician while being the second biggest was global cooling as the glaciars would race north
So yes nature can be scary

i say i hope we never reach permian levels of global warming or trassic levels of co2( ie 10% )

One concern of the scientists studying this is the melting of the permafrost that could release huge amounts of methane gas that’s embedded, and methane gas creates 20 times more of the greenhouse effect than does the same units of CO2.
