Each Scapular has a specific purpose arrarched to it, and most are attatched to a Religious Order; the brown for the Carmelites, the black for the Passionists etc. And some (such as the brown and green) have special promises and indulgences attatched to them.

As for what I wear; I wear the Brown Scapular (which is by far the most common) because it is a symbol of my love for Our Lady and she has promised to give great graces by her intercession to all those who wear it.

More info about Scapulars can be found here, here, and here.
Thank you.🙂

I generally wear a Miraculous Medal.

Thank you,
Eugen von Böhm-Bawerk

Hi all,
I wear a beautiful old metal crucifix which has been in my family for years.
God Bless,
Colmcille.

I wear the San Damiano Cross. I was educated by the Franciscan Friars, T.O.R. and I have a high respect and fondness for their order. This cross on a string reminds me constantly of the suffering of our Lord for our sins and salvation.

Around my neck I have a Crucifix of the Risen Christ (a gift from my son), a Miraculous Medal, and a Scapular Medal. That’s why I chose “Other” in the poll.

I wear a celtic cross because of its associations with catholicism (there are celtic cross statues outside my local catholic church) because I am considoring catholicism.

I only take it off when I know my boyfriend is going to be coming round. He dislikes me wearing any religious symbolism because he is aggressively atheist and I don’t want to create friction between us.

I use to wear a Crucifix but I also don’t care much for jewelery either. It would get caught now and again working. I would bend over and it would come out of my shirt and every once in a while the right angle would catch.

So what I do now is carry a Miraculous Medal on my key chain, and a brown and green scapular in my pocket. And theres a Rosary in my car and a few in my bedroom.

The Green Scapular is new addition. I happened to receive a Blessed new one at Mass today. 😃

Right now I’m wearing an Art Deco style Crucifix.
(At least it looks Art Deco to me.)
Oh, well, I like it anyways.

Seeing as how this thread has been revived I will chime in.

I wear a miraculous medal (under my shirt, it’s never visible). I always wear it. 🙂 I only remove it to shower.

I’m not sure why I wear it… in all honesty… because I honestly don’t believe it has any special power and most of the time I forget it’s on!!! Haha. But it’s become habit so there you go.

Also, I don’t believe it should be visible (my own little personal thing) so it keeps me from wearing shirts that are lower cut. Heh. Maybe Mother Mary is working on me to keep me modest?

I wear a Brown Scapular, not visible. Over my clothes I wear a small gold crucifix and smaller gold medal of Our Lady on a chain.

I have a scapular that I plan on getting invested over the holidays by my parish priest, as well as my patron saint’s medal.

I also have a saint medal that was blessed by Pope John Paul 2!!! It was given as a gift and I wear it close to my heart everyday.

I wear a gold Crucifix 👍
My grandmother gave it to me when I was a child. Though I’ve worn a Celtic Cross and other kinds of Crosses I always go back to the Crucifix for sentimental reasons and for the fact that I just prefer it.😃

I always wear a brown scapular and I wear a miraculous medal most of the time.

I was wondering what people wear around their necks. I don’t wear anything. I still have trouble getting used to wearing my wedding ring. I was never one for jewelry. Lately however I have been thinking about getting a scapula.
I wear the brownn scapular all the time and the Sr. Benedict Crucifix sometimes.

Oh - and I wear my wedding ring always.

Right now I’m wearing a small yellow gold crucifix. Sometimes I wear a silver crucifix, miraculous medal or one of two crosses.
