I want to wear my crucifix but all my life the chains I have worn have snapped.

Just the Brown Scapular now.

Wow, this thread is über old!

But I wear a St. Benedict crucifix and a brown scapular.

Hi suko,

Just wondering-do they get tangled? I take it the St. B is on a chain?

blessings,
HA

I wear a brown scapular and several medals, including a Benedictine medal.

Brown wool scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a servant’s garb as made from wool, the worker’s material. Priests wear linen servants wear wool. To humble yourself as a servant of the Handmaid of the Lord? An honor…Nobody gets between me and my brown wool scapular.

The Brown Scapular | Garment of Grace
The Thirteenth Century was a turbulent time and the Church was threatened by enemies on all
sides. It was then that the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to St. Simon Stock, Superior General
of the Carmelite Order, on July 16, 1251, and in her hand she held the “Garment of Grace”,
which we know as the Brown Scapular, and She gave this promise:

“Take this Scapular, it shall be a Sign of Salvation, a Protection in Danger and a Pledge of
Peace. Whosoever dies wearing this Scapular shall not suffer eternal fire.” - Promise of Our
Lady made July 16, 1251 to Saint Simon Stock

History

Pope Benedict XV, addressing seminarians in Rome:
“Let all of you have a common language and a common armor: The language, the sentences
of the Gospel - the common armor, the Brown Scapular of the Virgin of Carmel which you
ought to wear and which enjoys the singular privilege and protection after death.”

The Brown Scapular | A Sacramental
“One of the most remarkable effects of sacramentals is the virtue to drive away evil spirits
whose mysterious and baleful operations affect sometimes the physical activity of man. To
combat this occult power the Church has recourse to exorcism, and sacramentals” (The
Catholic Encyclopedia., 1913, VXIII, p. 293).

The Brown Scapular | A True Story
You will understand why the Devil works against those who promote the brown scapular when
you hear the true story of Venerable Francis Yepes. One day his Scapular fell off. As he
replaced it, the Devil howled, “Take off that habit which snatches so many souls from us! All
those clothed in it die piously and escape us!” Then and there Francis made the Devil admit
that there are three things which the demons are most afraid of: the Holy Name of Jesus; the
Holy Name of Mary and the Holy Scapular of Carmel.

“Modern Heretics make a mockery of wearing the Scapular. They decry it as so much
trifling nonsense.” - St. Alphonsus Ligouri

Mary, Mother of God and Our Mother
“When Mary became the Mother of Jesus, true God and true Man, She also became our
Mother. In His great mercy, Jesus wished to call us His brothers and sisters, and by this name
He constituted us adopted children of Mary.” - St. John Bosco

Sterling silver crucifix and a St.Michael medal on a 24" continuous stainless chain. If I’m traveling, I wear my dogtags on a separate chain. (I keep expecting my plane to crash, but it hasn’t happened yet! Ha Ha Ha)

Gold crucifix bought in Israel, blessed at Stella Maris on Mt. Carmel, and touched to the spot where Christ’s cross stood (which AFAIK makes it a 3rd class relic of the crucifixion, since the rock of Calvary/Golgotha is a relic of the crucifixion).

At the moment, I’m wearing a white gold diamond cross, but I also wear a yellow gold diamond cross, gold crucifix, silver crucifix, yellow gold miraculous medal, silver miraculous medal…

Just depends on my mood.

I also wear a St. Clare medal sometimes, too.

just a simple cross, inside my clothes, long chain … can I suggest you add gender and age group in the reply? I’m a woman, late twenties.

sure-I’m a 52 yr old man and have my crucifix and St. Philomena medal-I actually have 3 sets (blessed) and one of them also has a Eucharistic medal too. Two sets are silver and one gold where the crucifix is actually a St. Benedict. That’s for my neck and I wear one of these all the time except in the shower.

In my pocket (case) I carry my rosary and a miraculous medal and another large St. Philomena medal that is a third class relic.

Sometimes I also wear a scapular. Wearing the Green Scapular today.

thanks

Generally nothing. Occasionally a cross (simple wooden cross, no corpus), but I usually don’t remember. I also have a gold cross that I wear on special occasions.

Right now I have a Kay Jewelers Open Heart Angel Necklace I’m wearing that I got for Christmas. It reminds me to keep my heart open to my Guardian Angel, my faith and God.

I, personally, wear nothing around my neck, as it causes me discomfort.

I do, however, wear a Cross (pin) on my collar whenever I leave home. At home, it is removed and left on my alter.

If I wear a singlet or T-shirt (which have no collar) I pin it to the neck lining near my throat.

I am curious as to why you ask.

Dominus vobiscum.

…I am curious as to why you ask.
No particular reason; I was just curious. I’ve worn something (cross, crucifix, saint medal, military dog tags) around my neck for so many years it seems strange when I don’t. I don’t notice the weight (however small the amount) any more.

I wear a medical id pendant that I took to a jeweler and had him attach a crucifix to the reverse side.

update as I’ve actually been wearing the same thing for many months now:

St. Benedict Medal (front)
Miraculos Medal (nice blue one) (center)
St. Philomena medal (back TOWARDS me). I wear it that way so she’s always hugging me!

It’s a good power pack. I also add a scapular sometimes too. Have one of my brown scapular’s on today as well.

Always green scapular in my wallet and cloth rosary in my pocket. At night I have another cloth rosary I keep in my pocket but often hold it all night.

I wear a homemade wooden cross that I feel lead me to become a Catholic.
