What Do You Wear Around Your Neck?

My grandmother gave me a really nice blessed rosary that her sister-in-law (she was a nun) got during a pilgrimage to Medjugorje. She told me not to wear it. I wasn’t sure if it was because it was a special one or just because she thinks I shouldn’t wear a rosary period. But I like the idea of having it by my heart, and also around my neck so it’s always on my person if I want to pray the rosary.

So I don’t wear anything. But I would wear that. I might buy a rosary to wear on the daily.

I always wear my dogtags, sometimes I add a St Michael’s pendant onto the chain, it depends.

4-Way Medal

Sacred Heart of Jesus.
St. Joseph with the Child Jesus.
St. Christopher.
Miraculous Medal of Our Blessed Mother.

Same here. After coming back to the Church I wanted something to celebrate my homecoming. The 4 way medal was perfect! It only comes off when I shower. 🙂

I have two chains.
The Gold “Outside” chain, which has a gold crucifix, which I wear out of my clothing. (My Grandma Gave it to me)
On the inside chain I wear: A Miraculous Medal, A St. Michael the Archangel/Guardian Angel medal, St. Anthony with a Third Class Relic, Papal Crucifix, Our Lady of Fátima Medal also with Third Class Relic, St. Patrick/St. Bridget medal, and a I am a Catholic medal with the crucifixion scene on the front.

Although, with all of my St. Medals, they’ll have no problem figuring out I’m catholic. 🤷
I added two more, St. Benedict and St. Jude.

Ya THINK?!???

I understand this completely! I only occasionally wear chain necklaces… talk about painful! 😃 I have a medal of Our Lady of Providence that I sometimes wear on a satin cord, and I wear a Brown Scapular. My little one (20 mos.) likes to play with it while he nurses. I thought he was very pious as he would rub it on his cheek while nursing, but then I realized he was pretending it was a phone… he said, “Bye-bye, Daddy” and set it down. 😃
Um…ya never know. At one level, maybe your infant son was saying “bye-bye” to the Daddy we all share!

:gopray:

I wear a crucifix with a St. Benedict medal, and a medal of the Immaculate Conception. I hope to get a brown scapular soon.

a simple wooden cross with a silhouette of Jesus
and its always worn outside my shirt

I wear a crucifix. It has special significance for me because it is a st benedict cross with corpus and it has been blessed. I beleive that when I wear any blessed object it gives me special protection.

I used to wear my rosary beads around my neck, they’ve broken since, and they were my favourite beads having bought them at the Knock Shrine.

I also used to wear a scapular, but they persistently broke and got worn easily.

I’m going to invest in a simple cross, but for the time being, I’m going to wear the cross my mother gave me at my Communion.

It’s strange but in my high school, which was Catholic, you were only allowed wear two necklaces at a maximun, and they didn’t make exceptions for any extras such as scapulars, miraculous medals.

I know this is slightly off topic, but my little sister collects medals, and she made a cool bracelet out of them:)

I wear a scapular which has a St. Benedict Medal and a crucifix on it and a St. Benedict Cross. On the same rope as the cross I wear a Miraculous Medal and a Relic of St. Philomena

I wear the Miraculous Medal, but am thinking of also wearing the scapular, but which one? Which do you wear?
Each Scapular has a specific purpose arrarched to it, and most are attatched to a Religious Order; the brown for the Carmelites, the black for the Passionists etc. And some (such as the brown and green) have special promises and indulgences attatched to them.

As for what I wear; I wear the Brown Scapular (which is by far the most common) because it is a symbol of my love for Our Lady and she has promised to give great graces by her intercession to all those who wear it.

More info about Scapulars can be found here, here, and here.

I wear my Scapular for as long as it takes before it breaks. Used to wear Cross and St. Benedict medalal but waiting to get new chain. Miraculous Medal would be a plus.

^ You can order a free Miraculous Medal online at amm.org/submissions/survey/survey.asp if you live in the United States or Canada

I see no reason to see the site as untrustworthy. I ordered my Medal from there and am waiting for it now.
The Miraculous Medal once I receive it in the mail (God-willing)
Also, I wear the Rosary around my neck. I see it as the chain and mark that shows that I belong to Christ and Mary.
