I wear a beautiful crucifix that I bought the first time I went to Italy. It reminds me of Jesus’ sacrifice and also of a wonderful trip. It was blessed at the Vatican and I treasure it for that as well.
I used to wear my First Communion crucifix given to me by my late grandma, but when my father died my mother gave me his crucifix and I wear that now day and night, it never comes off at all. I’ve given my First Communion crucifix to my daughter. Both crucifix’s have Christ Jesus on the cross, personally i don’t like crucifixes without Christ Jesus on them .
Until I converted to Christianity I often wore a gorgeous crucifix round my neck. (at other times a string of tulasi (sp?) beads that according to some branches of Hinduism keep away evil spirits)Trouble was I converted into some pretty anti-catholic churches and ended up being verbally beaten into submission, removing the crucifix and chucking it away. I didn’t know any better and arguments about the cross being empty because Jesus had risen sounded good at the time.
For years I’ve regretted chucking the crucifix but haven’t tried hard to replace it since I know how many friends it would annoy - it’s just not worth it. No regrets about the tulasi beads!
But now conversion to catholicism looks likely it may be replaced one day if I can find one as nice, and not in the sense of it being pretty or anything - images of His crucifixion should never be pretty. My mother despaired at the time because I didn’t buy any of the ‘nice’ crucifixes.
Pardon Crucifix Or a special medal I made with super glue of two enamled images one is Our Lord with his Sacred Heart and the other is Our Lady with her Immaculate Heart.
I wear a mixture of scapular and medals as well. The only one that is at all unusual is one I picked up on a Catholic camp 9 years ago and which I just found out (gotta love google) is the medal of the Holy Face of Jesus: holyface.org/pierina.htm
I alternate between a thrice-blessed Cross which depicts the Holy Family (Christ, Mary and Joseph) and my thrice-blessed St. Christopher pendant. My mother named me after St. Christopher and I have always struggled with the “bearing of Christ”.
I was wondering what ya’ll thought of people wearing a Rosey around their neck? A few years ago this was big talk around my town. A few kids at school were wearing these as a gang symbol. It was soon banded. Now I have notice in the stores they are making an actual necklace with small beads, they are spaced the same. It’s a rosey! I was resently given a braclet that was one decade of the rosey. It very nice, but I can’t bring myself to wear it. I know they have rings too. I don’t thank a rosey should be worn as a piece of jewelry.
An “IHS” crucifix- the devil hates to see this stuff coming at him…
A large miraculous medal (I am a member of MI)-- the large miraculous medal is awesome, it also has images of angel wings, Our Lady of Grace and Divine Mercy on it.
I have also worn a variety of other medals at different times. Recently, I made a sort of reliquary out of them and placed it in my daughter’s room on the wall. The medals surround an image of the Sacred Heart and an image of Our Lady. The medals are of saints my wife and I have prayed to for our daughter’s health- bodily and spiritually. There are more to be added…
