hosemonkey;2357637:
concept of freedom in the west
The credt of concept of freedom in the West should truly be given to the secular thinking prevalent there, not to Christianity in my opinion.
Thanks

GodAllahYHWH is All-Knowing and All-Wise; one should invariably give Claim and Reason on all important issues from one’s Revealed Book; one shouldn’t try putting one’s own words into God’s mouth. Kindly let God speak for Claim and Reason and you would know the truth for sure.
This to a great extent true, however it was christian thought that also contributed. The Founders were all christian and refered to christian thinking in making thier decisions.

oh did they started with respect?they made a play insulting islam ,what muslims did isnt totally justified but it was a reaction not an action
IT was not justified at all. You are here every day insulting Christianity. Why do you think you have the right to insult us and our religion yet no one can insult Islam?

Those Copts have every right to their beliefs. All this did was to show the world how horribly Egypt treats its Christians.

did that who told you about violence told you why it happened?if he didnt then i will tell you , if he did then i think that what happened occured for a reason
Are you saying that insulting Islam justifies murder?

There was once an art exhibit that showed a crucifix emersed in urine.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/****_Christ

The christian world was very angry and upset. Many complained. NO ONE DIED.

God does not condone such killing.

if you proved that i insulted christianity or said that it was totally justified i will leave 😉
You’ve made this promise before on other things that you said then denied. I showed that you said them… but you are still here. So i’m not going to waste my time digging up your insults, Everyone here has read them.

You have been very insulting and rude. If I said the things about Islam that you have said about Christianity in public in your country i’d probably be dead in a matter of minutes.

so its justified to kill their children and un armed ppl
You have no idea of what was going on in Japan, China, etc at the time. There was no other way to stop the blood bath that was started by the Japanese. ALL of thier population was fighting to take over a good portion of the war. If they cared about their own peolpe they should have never started the war, attacking and killing millions.

ok, its become apparent that ahmadhassan is nothing more than a troll.
He is continually just pushing peoples buttons in here and his arguments are going in circles.
Its quite obvious he has no intention of trying to understand Christianity and is doing a poor effort of trying to find holes in it.
Im not going to bother answering him anymore.
Ive got better things to do, like spread the word of God to people who want know the truth.
God Bless everyone

Hi Tawheedah! From the posts by Muslims on this thread, I get the idea that our beliefs on freedom are very different. Hamba brought up something very similar to yours.

What do you mean by stating that most of your “freedoms” will come in Jennah.
Hi Vickie. When I hear the word “freedom” it makes me think of jail, prison. Being free in that sense, and having “free will”. There is free will in Islam to a certain extent, because we choose whether we are going to follow the Quran and the Sunnah or if we are going to go against it. When I think of “freedom”, I think of the freedom to do as you please without consequence. Most people think that anything they do, if legal will be without consequence, but for a Muslim, there is consequence, not today, not in this dunya, but if I choose to go out and knowingliy commit sin after sin after sin after sin with no intention on ever stopping or repenting, then I will face consequences in Jennah/Paradise, the hereafter. So we choose to worship Allah 5 times a day, not to drink alcohol, not to party, not to have but 2 celebrations a year, not to dress however we want to dress… and when describing this to non-Muslims, they say “why are you putting yourself in prison”? So this is why we say, this life is like a prison for a Muslim, but this life is only but a bus stop on the way to Jennah, which will live up to its name and description, and make this life seem like it only lasted for 2 days.
If someone wants to party and so on, that’s their business. We do not have a morality police in this country, thank goodness. We would not be a free country if we did.
I agree, if someone wants to go out and do those things, it’s their business, and no one can judge them, only God can judge, and He will, oh he will…
When I think of freedom, I mean things like freedom of religion, of speech and of the press, for instance, not immoral behavior which is licentiousness, and an abuse of freedom.

The problem I see, is that Muslims seem to want to impose their will on others. They believe that their way is the only way to live, and this is not acceptable in a free society.

Vickie
Yes, we believe Islam is the truth. Yes we should call people to Islam, but NO we are not to impose it on anyone. Allah guides whom he chooses to guide, there is nothing anyone can do about that. And we honestly don’t know, none of us, who will be in Jennah. I’ve been told that when (insha Allah/god-willing) we get to Jennah, we’ll be surprised who we see in Jennah, including non-Muslims, we really don’t know who is going to be there, and it isn’t for us to say, because none of us knows for sure until we get there.

Islam is against oppression, so for Muslims to oppress anyone would be wrong, if that’s what they’re doing.

…… When I think of “freedom”, I think of the freedom to do as you please without consequence.
This is NOT what Christians or Westerners mean when they speak of freedom. Christians believe that they have to stay within the laws of God or face the consequences in the hereafter.
…… Most people think that anything they do, if legal will be without consequence, but for a Muslim, there is consequence, not today, not in this dunya, but if I choose to go out and knowingliy commit sin after sin after sin after sin with no intention on ever stopping or repenting, then I will face consequences in Jennah/Paradise, the hereafter.
I’d say that most people, to include most Muslisms, are lost and commit a lot of sin making all sorts of excuses for their actions.
Allah guides whom he chooses to guide, there is nothing anyone can do about that.
I’ve heard this stated before by Muslims. So Allah will not accept everyone who is looking for the right way? He only chooses the some and throws away the rest? If this is true then it is not a person’s fault that Allah did not ‘choose’ them to be Muslim. Allah would be wrong to punish someone who he did not ‘choose’.

I’d also like to add this:

Those who believe (in the Qur’an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians,- any who believe in God and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. ~ Surah 2 Verse 62

There is a hadith where Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, says that Muslims will be half those in Paradise

That means there is 50% in Paradise for Monotheists who are non-Muslims (the followers of God’s prophets from Adam and Noah, till Moses and Jesus - peace be upon them all).

Fate Of Non Muslims

And like I said before, none of us knows who will be in Jennah. Allahu Alim. Allah knows best.

This is NOT what Christians or Westerners mean when they speak of freedom. Christians believe that they have to stay within the laws of God or face the consequences in the hereafter.
I am a Westerner. Most “Westerners” choose to disobey the laws of God and a lot of them disobey the laws of the government as well.
I’d say that most people, to include most Muslisms, are lost and commit a lot of sin making all sorts of excuses for their actions.
I’d agree. That’s why we have (all religions) repentence, and in Islam there is importance placed on intentions. Every sin is forgivable except for Shirk (associating partners with God).

Please refer to my previous post about Non-Muslims going to heaven. I think I already answered this in that post. How can the Most Merciful give someone the punishment of Hellfire who was never exposed to the message??

tawheedah

Do you agree with what is said in this link?
news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4366232.stm
This link appears to be a news article, I’m not sure what it is you’re asking me what I agree with? It is an account of something that happened, I can not agree or disagree with it.

What I can say is, that I think it was wrong that a nun was stabbed, and I think it was wrong that rocks were thrown at a church/cars set on fire. I am against violence, I am also against “militants” and “terrorists”. I am interested in seeing this DVD that was mentioned in the article. Again I don’t know what you were fishing for, but this part stuck out to me:

Relations between Muslims and the Coptic minority - which makes up 5%-10% of Egypt’s population - are generally calm, although tensions sometimes flare.

I’m of the “can’t we all just get along?” school of thought!

Then the sects differed (i.e. the christians about Iesa (Jesus) ), so woe unto the disbelievers (those who gave false witness by saying that Iesa (Jesus) is the son of Allah) from the meeting of a great Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection, when they will be thrown in the blazing fire).
( سورة مريم , Maryam, Chapter #19, Verse #37)

Which verse has greater authority?
There is a hadith where Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, says that Muslims will be half those in Paradise
There are hadith that say the majority of hell are women.

I agree that some westerners do disobey the laws of government just as some Muslims do, even those in Muslim countries. I know this for a fact as I’ve lived in Muslim countries.
As for breaking the laws of God. Everyone breaks the laws of God because none of us is perfect… that goes for Christians, Muslims, ‘Westerners’, etc. Muslims and Christians believe in a slightly different set of laws of God. For example most Christians do not believe that God bands alcohol. In moderation there is NOTHING wrong with it. Most of the people I know and hang out with live by the laws of man and the laws of God. You have a lot of audacity judging ‘most westerners’ as breaking the laws of God since you don’t know ‘most westerners’. We cannot take the popular culture as being what ‘most westerners’ do. Hollywood is NOT most of us. Most people I know are appalled by popular culture, do not allow their children to live by it, monitor the things they see.
Do you honestly believe that most Muslims are morally superior to most Christians? Do you know that the most popular item is in open markets in the Muslims countries? Porn videos. Islam has not solved or improved anything over Christianity.
I’d agree. That’s why we have (all religions) repentence, and in Islam there is importance placed on intentions. Every sin is forgivable except for Shirk (associating partners with God)
Yes I know. This is the double speak of Islam isn’t it? In one post you will tell us that Islam says that half of heaven will be people like Christians. But we know that Muslims believe that we are really guilty of Shirk… because of the Holy Trinity.
Please refer to my previous post about Non-Muslims going to heaven. I think I already answered this in that post. How can the Most Merciful give someone the punishment of Hellfire who was never exposed to the message??
So what happens to those who have not heard the Islamic message?
On the other hand there are people like me, millions if not billions of us, who have heard the Islamic message and outright reject it as false. I guess I’m headed to hell by the Islamic way of thinking right?

I’m not a scholar, and I’m not going to pretend to be a scholar. Just refer to my post and follow the link to what the scholar says on the matter. All I know is, it is in the Quran, I’m not going to argue, I’m not into arguing. I gave you the passage in the Quran, I gave you a link for further information. It’s up to you whether you wish to give weight what I said or just be close-minded and think what you want to think. Allah knows best.
There are hadith that say the majority of hell are women.
You are referring to this:
*Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet said: “I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful.” It was asked, “Do they disbelieve in Allah?” (or are they ungrateful to Allah?) He replied, “They are ungrateful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favors and the good (charitable deeds) done to them. If you have always been good (benevolent) to one of them and then she sees something in you (not of her liking), she will say, 'I have never received any good from you.” Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 2, Number 28 *

Here’s a link that discusses this:
More Women Than Men In Hellfire?

But I will add this, I’m not surprised that there were more women than men in hellfire, since backbiting is a sin, and I have seen many many women (even in the masjid/mosque) backbiting and bickering with each other, so it doesn’t surprise me that their mouths would land them in Hell.
Most verses in the Quran don’t seem to agree with that position.
When you go get a degree in Quranic Studies, then maybe I’ll listen to you. Please read my signature.

Peace

I have seen as many men do this as I have seen women… though with men we call it back-stabbing. Men are no better then women
That you can say what you said is very disturbing.

Your signature….
How can you fairly assess something from the outside looking in?
Majority of the time you’ll be wrong.
If someone cannot assess something from the outside looking in, then a person seeking to convert to Islam cannot properly assess it to determine if it is the truth. So I guess it’s not worth looking into Islam by your own words.
Another point related to your signature… perhaps you cannot assess Christianity or Christians, whom you have judged harshly on this thread. As you are an outsider looking in. It goes both ways you know.

I agree that some westerners do disobey the laws of government just as some Muslims do, even those in Muslim countries. I know this for a fact as I’ve lived in Muslim countries.

As for breaking the laws of God. Everyone breaks the laws of God because none of us is perfect…
That is true, we are only human and none of us are perfect. I’m not disagreeing with you here, be it Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, no human is perfect and we all commit sins.
…that goes for Christians, Muslims, ‘Westerners’, etc. Muslims and Christians believe in a slightly different set of laws of God. For example most Christians do not believe that God bands alcohol. In moderation there is NOTHING wrong with it. Most of the people I know and hang out with live by the laws of man and the laws of God.
Yes we do have differing views on God’s Laws in the different religions. I have much respect for those that strive to follow their interpretations of what God’s laws are, because I know how hard it is to be a pious religious person in this world where sin is all around us.
I don’t recall ever judging anyone. Only God can judge. Not me. And FYI, for the second time, I am a “westerner”. Born and raised in the United States of America, PA to be exact. I’m not taking “popular culture as being what most ‘westerners’ do”. Nor did I say that. I am not going to continue to dialogue with you if you are going to be accusing me of saying or thinking things that I did not say or think.
Do you honestly believe that most Muslims are morally superior to most Christians?
No, nor did I say that.

It’s not up to me to decide who is going to Hell, that is for Allah only. I will not judge anyone. When I get to Jennah insha Allah, then I’ll find out if you’re there with me or not. Until then, I won’t know nor would I even attempt to speculate. Allah is after all the most merciful, all seeing, all knowing, the Judge. How could any person, Muslim or not, know who Allah will use his mercy on?

Your signature….

If someone cannot assess something from the outside looking in, then a person seeking to convert to Islam cannot properly assess it to determine if it is the truth. So I guess it’s not worth looking into Islam by your own words.
No that’s not true. But if someone was seeking to convert to Islam, they would be open to dawah, not close minded, they’d be willing to listen to the explanations, they’d want to hear what clears up the misconceptions. You yourself said that you believe Islam is false, to each his own, but that belief makes your mind closed to anything I say to explain things to you. So in essence, I’m wasting my time trying to explain it to you. FYI, I’m not trying to convert you, I just wanted you to maybe gain an understanding…
Another point related to your signature… perhaps you cannot assess Christianity or Christians, whom you have judged harshly on this thread. As you are an outsider looking in. It goes both ways you know.
Once again, no I did not judge anyone in this thread. I don’t judge Christians, I don’t judge anyone. You seem to have ignored where I said I was of the “can’t we all just get along” school of thought. And FYI, I was raised a Christian, so whatever views I have on Christianity, are not from the outside looking in, they came from the inside. Just because I don’t agree with your beliefs, does not mean that I don’t respect them. Don’t you try to imply otherwise. And since you’ve shown me that you are only interested in putting things into my mouth that I didn’t say, I’m finished speaking to you now on this matter. I tried to give you an understanding of what I believe, I never knocked what you believe or made assumptions about you, as you did me.

So with that, I say Goodbye and Good Day.
