I came across an article about a company that has launched some very offensive Christmas cards. I have written them to say that I find them disrespectful and offensive (I know they won’t take them down). Just wondering if something else can be done.

It’s a UK company. Don’t they have anti-blasphmey laws out there? Wouldn’t this apply?

No such laws in England and Wales. They still exist in Scotland and Northern Ireland, but have not been used for many years. 1843 in Scotland.

Pray in reparation for blasphemy against Our Lady’s perpetual virginity, and pray for the makers/publishers to be spiritually enlightened. With things like this today, nothing else can be done.

I’m not at all giving it publicity but maybe if more people write them in protest they will see that we do not find it funny. It just did not feel right to be silent and not do anything about it.

  1. Do not buy them.
  2. Pray for the printers and sellers.
  3. Move on with your life.
You can spend irretrievable life energy and irreplaceable time chasing sin on the web. All to no avail and much personal frustration.

Ah, but prayer! Now you are doing something!

I wrote the company a polite email telling them that the card was offensive and not even in a tasteful or appropriate way.

Thank you. I do think it is important they hear from us. Especially as in an article they said they did not mean to offend that they were just fun cards.

But, you did! In violation of forum rules. Giving an address so that we could write is one thing. Linking to their garbage is quite another.

Take down the link and ignore it.

DONT give them free publicity.
DONT give them the satisfaction of watching you fume.

Yes, but don’t give them the satisfaction. Ignore them and don’t link to them and give them clicks.

That is their website, you can find their contact there. I honestly never imagined I would get backlash on a Catholic forum for posting something I found offensive and wondering what could be done about it. At least one of us here has also written them. Nothing was done on my part to give them publicity, like I explained, it did not feel right to stay silent and I wanted to create awareness.

I took down the link in case it violates forum policy. I am surprised though at some answers. When offensive links about movies etc are posted, I do feel we should complain that we are not fine with things, in this era of respect, our faith should also be respected. I don’t understand the silence attitude, but to each, his or her own. Anyone who wishes to contact them to protest, please pm me and I’ll send the contact to their site.
