guanophoreThat is just what is so confusing and distressing. He was called upon by SOLT to come live in community, and suffer his suspension while supported by them. This basically means he would live a private and contempletive life, rather than putting himself out as a public figure. He could be faithful to his promises to the community to be obedient, chaste, and live in poverty while setting an example for the flock.
He could have “moved on” in obedience to his SOLT superior, and achieved a more private life without all this public scandal and disarray.![]()
I believe you pretty much summed up the answer in your statement. My view, based on
everything that has taken place and all that I see, that is, the charges, the counter charges
the wealth and style of living describe by both the order and others as well as all I discovered
on line about his corporation, “Santa Cruz Media” and the phenomenal amount of money that
was paid for appearances coupled with his determination to remain independant; given all that I can easily understand that he wanted to walk away from his priesthood and the Order.
Even if he left the Order he would then come under the direction of the local ordinary,(bishop)
which would encompass a drastic change in life style. Sadly he chose another path that
may do immeasurable damage to some of his followers which will have to be settled between
he and God. Todays Gosple probably sums it up pretty well. “Some seed will fall on good ground and see and hear and will grow, but then is choked by thorns.” The riches of the world.
