that is not what I said, nor what I meant.
It is what I said, and what I meant. I do not understand your position, or how it differs from what I said. The only thing I would add is that the newly ordained priest I described may have been taught about the communion rules by his mother, and she may have a clearer understanding of them than he does. That may not take away from her desire to participate in a culmination of her life of faith when her beloved son participates in the Eucharist for the first time as a priest.

My inability to understand your comments should not distract from the answer I gave to the Bearself’s question. The British bishops gave these examples of when a non-Catholic might want to receive Communion at a Catholic Eucharist. I hope that this gives the Bearself some ideas about what is being discussed in Germany. The British bishops’ writings might help others, even someone like Chaput, to understand the discussion better.

I think Archbishop Chaput knows Church teaching better than most people in the Church. He’s one of the brightest minds in Catholic thought and family.

If the Lutheran’s life is threatened and taking Catholic communion might be their last chance in life, so be it. One could imagine scenarios in the Middle East where this could actually happen. In reality, in Germany, Lutherans are not persecuted or anything. If they want to go to communion, they just need to grab their car keys and drive to the next larger city which will have a Lutheran parish. As simple as that. The whole discussion is absurd and ridiculous. There is a hidden agenda.

You have that right. With one side paying no attention to the other, not even believing the Eucharist is something to be desired, the discussion is absurd and ridiculous.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

What happens in Germany, tends to roll across her borders behind cavalry or tanks . . .

🤣🤔

(did I really just post that??? It is tongue in cheek, not serious–but I’ve been biting it back since I first saw the title . . .)
