alright about a week ago one of my friends brought asked a question
what happens to the bodies of the dammed after the resurrection of the body?
I’m pretty sure that we Catholics believe that all bodies will be resurrected in the end of time
then god will judge us sending some to the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons
Also God will create a new heaven and a new earth
but now the question arises what happens to the dammed.
really the only thing we know is that they will be in some eternal fire
but where is that fire?
nothing in the book of revelation says that God will create a new Hell
and if we all get our bodies back then there has to be some place for the dammed to go it has to be some physical place becuase it is impossible for bodies to take up nothingness. So hell has to be some type of physical place
I don’t think the Catholic church has any official stance on this but I do know the orthodox church does
they say that actually everyone goes to heaven and that we will all be consumed by the eternal fire of God, but the eternal fire of God is actually hell for the dammed.
When thinking about the orthodox position it starts to make more since that this could actually be right becuase there is nothing in scripture to my knowledge that rejects this.
But it still may not be right
i know someone in the past taught me that Hell was an eternal disconnection from God, but if this orthodox theory is correct then the people in hell are actually still connected with God but that connection to them is Hell becuase they rejected God and want nothing to do with it.
If the church really does have an official stance on this please let me know if not please give me your opinion on the matter
thanks
