people im not here to debate what happens to our bodies we already know that the church and the bible is very clear on this

im wondering where do the bodies of the dammed go. The church isn’t clear on this i don’t think they have a stance on this
Here is a suggestion you might consider. Bit radical on my part but nonetheless…

As for the state of the reprobate in hell, theologians rarely if ever, compare hell-fire to fire as we know it in this life. Aquinas left us no doubt concerning his opinion that a comparison of this nature is nothing short of nonsense.

Additionally his treatise De Veritate he poured contempt on the suggestion that a human soul could suffer from real burning whilst the angelic spirit could not be similarly tormented.

In my opinion therefore the evaluation of what is generally termed ‘the spirit-penalty’ can be directly connected to the question of where the reprobate goes to.

The only way to contain the free will of a rebellious spirit is by containment of its sphere of action. Thus, to kill two birds in one stone, I suggest you consider that part of what is generally termed spirit-penalty relates directly to “detention”; which equates to captivity; which turns unto ‘place’; which can be said to turn thereupon to a restricted zone within a perfected universe;.

Additionally therefore - without any access to any and all of the other zones duly perfected for the benefit of the redeemed - frustration is added to imprisonment.

i hope you don’t think im growing away from God 😦

i am very devote in my faith and im just trying to get a deeper knowledge of it

Paduard:

Makes sense. God is Infinite. Where else would God find the space/place for a “detention” realm?

This is a lot like listening to Lord of the Rings fan boys argue about what can be learned by gazing into a palantir or debating whether Aquaman could defeat Green Arrow in unarmed single combat on dry land.

Children like fairy tales; but usually they discern them as such.

Right. But how do I distinguish between people’s views about what happens to bodies of the damned from fairy tales? How can I view the differing opinions on the matter of resurrectoion of bodies and descriptions of what Heaven will be like from the deates between fan-boys on whether Picard or Kird was a better officer or whether Data is smarter than R2D2 or whether the Battlestar Gallactica could defeat a Star Destroyer? It sounds like so-called experts on matters of theology in cases like these are no better than experts on Dungeons and Dragons. Is there really any basis for claiming to have knowledge about what happens to the bodies of the damned?

the church states that all bodies will be resurrected

and that some people go to heaven and some to go hell

we know that god will create a new heaven and a new earth

but where is the new hell (not a specific place but place in gerneal)

example its a separate place disconnected completly from heaven

or its connected to heaven but becuase the dammed rejected God Heaven is like hell to the dammed while its heaven to those of the saved (orthodox view)

My question is *how *do you know? All I’m getting is, “the Church says so?” Why should I believe what the Church says about such things? Because the Church says I should???

But is that any better than saying that the official dungeon’s master’s guide to Advanced Dungeons and Dragons says so? I can’t see how there is any way that someone could know these things, and I can’t see any way that we could know that someone else knows these things. The honest answer seems to me to be that we simply do not know and probably cannot know what happens to the bodies of the damned until perhaps after we die. Until then, we just have no good way of justifying a belief one way or the other. One could say that it is just a matter of faith, but we ought to recognize such claims taken on faith as the inability to provide justification for a belief–as having failed rather than as having triumphed.

the book of revealtions talk about how God will create a new heaven and a new earth 66% of my claim is backed up by that statement

im also pretty sure it says bodies are resurrected but not as sure

I’m not convinced that “the Bible says so” is any better authority on this matter than saying “the official dungeon master’s guide to Advanced Dungeon’s and Dragons” says so.

what about a metaphysical argument

or pretty much we can’t be living without our bodies and our souls so it isn’t possible to live for all eternity without our bodies and our soul being connected.

Remain unconvinced then.

Buttinski! We’re here speaking Christian to Christian, and out of the blue who appears, for no higher purpose than to disrupt? There’s no value you can add to this discussion save the destruction of the thread, is there?

Just because you have been granted god-like freedoms, in these forums, does not mean that you should forsake discretion. 🙂

What would it take to convince you?

I) A thousand years in the making? No?
II) Well over a thousand essentially disconnected people, in the making? No?
III) More than three verification traditions covering over a thousand years? No?
IV) God’s promise of inerrancy? No?
V) A Church founded by the Godhead nearly 2,000 years ago? No?
VI) A Church consisting of thousands of people far more intelligent than you, adhering to that Bible described hereinabove? No?
VII) Your inability to sway anyone’s belief herein? No?

You’re a tough nut to crack, Leela.

You say that evolution is rigorous because we can make predictions from its inferences. And, that’s your rationale.

We say we can make predictions from biblical inferences. And, that’s our rationale.

We really like science. You really dislike religion. And your judgments should be trusted? 🤷

You are probably right. I’ll butt out.
