CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH ( CCC )
2352: By masturbation is to be understood the deliberate stimulation of the genital organs in order to derive sexual pleasure. ‘Both the Magisterium of the Church, in the course of a constant tradition, and the moral sense of the faithful have been in no doubt and have firmly maintained that masturbation is an intrinsically and gravely disordered action.’ ‘The deliberate use of the sexual faculty, for whatever reason, outside of marriage is essentially contrary to its purpose.’ For here sexual pleasure is sought outside of ‘the sexual relationship which is demanded by the moral order and in which the total meaning of mutual self-giving and human procreation in the context of true love is achieved’."
“To form an equitable judgment about the subjects’ moral responsibility and to guide pastoral action, one must take into account the affective immaturity, force of acquired habit, conditions of anxiety or other psychological or social factors that lessen, if not even reduce to a minimum, moral culpability.” 4
The reference to the Magistgerium’s “constant tradition” of opposition to masturbation appears to conflict with Giovanni Cappelli’s findings that the first mention of masturbation in Church documents dated to the sixth century CE.
It would appear that the CCC condemns all pleasure derived from genital stimulations, whether masturbation is continued until orgasm or not.
Here are my Questions:
What happens if a Catholic male has read and has full knowledge of the Catholic Church’s teaching under CCC-2352.
But in good conscience, he still honestly and truly believes that God is NOT GRAVELY offended by ALL sexual acts, and that He will NOT send every male to Hell, for the act of deliberately entertaining sexual thoughts, or for stroking his penis to full erection, (especially if he does not have an orgasm or ejaculates ).
In other words, in plain English, he believes that playing with his penis in moderation, is not gravely offensive to God, and is not equal to masturbation ( if it does not involve orgasm and ejaculation), and therefore is NOT a mortal sin. Perhaps he may consider the act as, at most, a venial sin.
Does this Catholic male have the right to exercise his own good conscience in his relationship to his God, OR is he nevertheless guilty of mortal sin?
If one believes he is nevertheless guilty of mortal sin, then what is the mortal sin? Playing with his penis ( even though he truly believes it is not a moral sin ), or his not believing in or agreeing with the Catholic Church on what constitutes real masturbation?
If he sincerely believes that he is in the state of Grace, and he receives the Eucharist, would God consider that decision a mortal sin or not?
There is a difference between a Catholic person abiding by the laws of the Catholic Church out of fear of going to Hell, OR, on the other hand, having a real and true belief that each and every law of the Catholic Church is correct and is a true representation of the behavior that God wants from all of his creatures on earth.
Can a Catholic person believe that the Catholic Church is wrong on a specific issue, and still remain Catholic, after exercising his own good conscience with his God? Or should he simply find another religion to follow, which coincides better with his own beliefs?
I wonder how many priests and Bishops actually believe that God will send young unmarried males to hell for simply stroking or playing with their erections from time to time in moderation without ejaculating, or for occasionally entertaining sexual thoughts? Am I correct in saying that this is what the Catholic Church teaches?
It seemed that the Catholic Church does not want any males to ever experience the pleasure of having an erection ( even without ejaculation ), until they get married, and then only during sexual intercourse with their wives. Except for the act of sexual intercourse, all males should simply forget that they have a penis and testicles attached to their bodies.
Does the Catholic Church really want and expect its members to believe that God is really so merciless, vengeful and mean?
