While that’s true it is mostly Spanish, there are still at least 60 other languages spoken as a first language at home in that district. Major languages among these include Korean, Armenian, Mandarin, French and Arabic in addition to Spanish. LAUSD has bilingual programs in the languages named here.It is almost always Spanish, and not something else. Some elementary school classes are taught partly in English and partly in Spanish. In which case the pupil will be hearing the same lesson twice, but in two different languages.
