What is the difference between Mormons and Islam?

i said “any” and this applies to Muhammad, Smith, Ghulam Ahmad and the rest of who claim to be a prophet or Jesus Himself.
I don’t know of any that have claimed a restoration of the original Christian church, with the full authority of the priesthood and Apostleship. Joseph Smith is the only one as far as I know.
this am not denying. I was pointing out to conflicting “restoring” prophets in the name of angels. You can refer to the OP’s quote.
Joseph Smith restored nothing in the name of an angel. He restored everything in the name of Jesus Christ and of God.

Muslims have a different understanding of restoration. They believe in a scripture genocide (corruption of Jewish and Christian scriptures beyond recognition) and of course they will extend it to the tradition (if they know what it means) but they have to extend it to the tradition because it opposes Muhammad as well. So in Islam all scriptures and all churches were corrupt, save Muhammad, his book and his rightly guided caliphs. You see, when one has to spread conspiracy theories in order to spread his religion by claiming restoration, details become meaningless to those who believe him so you find conspiracy theories flying like dirt in the air.

i know. The point is, what you believe in, they believe in, each having his own criteria that convinces him based on the “prophet’s” claim since he heard an angel saying so and because his book proves beyond a doubt that it is from God.
That is silly. You are a native Arabic speaker, and you know very well that in Arabic Allah just means God. It is the Arabic word for God.
how does this disprove what i said? you say Smith did everything in the name of God, and Muslims say the same, but they call him Allah because they believe it is a proper name. All in all, both claim things in the name of God and both claim angelic visitations and both claim corruption and apostacy ; details are not what the OP is asking about, as far as i understood.

That is nonsensical and don’t make sense.

Looks like you are confused beyond your wits. At first you claimed that Joseph Smith and Mohamed did everything in the name of an angel. When I informed you that Joseph Smith didn’t restore anything in the name of an angel, then you say, Mohamed didn’t either! So what? I don’t care what Mohamed did or didn’t. That is for Muslims to decide. I am interested in what Joseph Smith did.

to us it surely doesn’t.

At the end, both Smith and Muhammad were visited by “angels” teaching them this or that “in the name of God”.
And that proves what exactly? So did Abraham and Moses, Joseph, Mary, Jesus and His Apostles.

John 18:

37 To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

That is what we do. We follow that example. We bear witness to the truth. Everyone that is of the truth heareth our words.

no you perpetuate the fraud of Joseph Smith. the evidence is overwhelming. mormonism started out as a scam. it succeeded beyond any of its founders wildest dreams so they upped the level of comitment until Brigham young was the ruler of his own theocracy. then the US government got involved. mormons had to tone down their worst excesses and as a result over the years they morphed into an almost mainstream protestant sect that now tries to hide its past and downplay its strangest beliefs.

Few are fooled anymore thanks to the easy access to information these days. a number of transient needy folks and the vulnerable unstable types provide sufficient baptisms to maintain an illusion of growth.

would be apologists mostly stay on the safer sites (MADB, jefflindsay, FAIR, etc.) and play cheerleader. a very few venture out into the world and either have to face the truth or (like zerinus) ignore reality and shout their absurdities while trolling for converts.(found any yet Z?..didn’t think so)

it is truly sad yet it is also as it always has been, from the priests of Baal to those spoken of in 2Peter it seems we will always have to endure the rantings of those who actually believe in the charlatans and false prophets. i don’t know which is worse, the Televangelists trying to talk viewers out of their life savings or the LDS demanding not only their tithes but time and obedience towards the building up of the cult. it’s like scientology and Jehovah’s witnesses all rolled up into one.

well at least no one here is biting.

the father, son and holy spirit are ONE God, who created ONE church that never left the earth and never will. only one church can claim that truth. the ONE, hole, catholic and apostolic church. where all are welcome. (and always have been)

From SimonArizona:
Speaking of ORIGIN not customs and beliefs: Both men went up to a mountain to pray, both came down with a book from an angel. What is the authority? Both are confusions.
Would you have a wider sense and include Moses too because Moses went up the mount to pray to God and brought a book from there?

**Now about inJesus. Saying that both Smith and Muhammad were visited by an angel. I say that christians are using the angel as they like. But they are allergic to any one else mentioning the angel. We see that the christians use the angel speaking to Joseph the carpentar, more than once in the bibleNT.

If that is possible and true then why cannot an angel come to Muhammad or Joseph Smith? That is as far as the visit of an angel is concened, there does not seem to be any sin in that. It is permitted by the bibleNT. Jospeh the carpentar was not any prophet of God.

So we should not base our discussions on the base of angels etc. We should seek the solution in other matters. One important thing I can tell all of the christians now. Jesus was as good as Joseph Smith because he claimed to be a prophet of God (right or wrong) and Jesus was also a prophet of God.

I do not know anything about mormons. I do not say anything about them. Whatever their beliefs, they are in the field, working. It is a good lesson to learn that anything can spread like wildfire. Mormons have lived just more than 100 years. I do not see much of them or their book.

It was a malafide topic to downplay Islam i.e why it is being compared with Islam. The book of Islam is available, being recited in prayers mor ethan five times a day all over the world and is available. I do not know much about the book of mormons. Where is it?

Ahmadi Muslims number more than 170 million in the world today. They do not have any new book other than the Quran. Otherwise they have their own interpretive books. They pray exactly like the non Ahmadi Muslims. Do the Mormons do the same prayer as the non mormon christians? I hope not.

Yet the mormons claim that they are christians. So let them remain christians. It should not harm the christians. They are supported by the mormons. At least mormons are not saying that they are muslims. So that disconnects them from muslims or Islam.

The best thing is that the Catholics should own the mormons and keep them for themsleves only. Thanks.**

St. Paul "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed."
Joseph Smith did not go up on a mountain and come back with a book from an angel. You are such an expert on Mormonism!

So far different.
Islam come to restore the religion of god.
Mormon is just a copy of christian believes with some “add-on”.

Mormon are considered by Muslim as a sect, since they believe that Smith got a revelation from god.For Muslims, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was the last one who will receive revelation from God.
Mormons are also dispensationalists as are Muslims, and believe that Joseph Smith came to restore the religion of God (using your terminology)

For Melanie and the others on that other thread, these are the “yahoos” I was referring to. See what I mean?

Hi

Joseph Smith was killed as commanded in the OTBible. Is that true?

I love Jesus and Mary as I do love Buddha and Krishna

Thanks
Not sure what you mean. Joseph was unjustly imprisoned and killed by a mob which assaulted the jail he was in.
