If Catholics are Christians what are the steps they take to receive salvation?
Protestants believe Romans 10:9 & 10. Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and you shall be saved.

The Protestants cannot “self proclaim and save” themselves. If they knew they were heaven bound, they would be JESUS. JESUS grants salvation, not a book. The bible teaches the Christian faith, which includes JESUS proclaiming that HE has formed a church, HIS church. Not multiple churches and not multiple flavors, nuances or essences of the HIS church - just ONE Church.
Our Protestant brothers and sister have to answer the question to themselves, that if JESUS formed ONE church, and the protestant church did not arrive upon the world for almost 1,500 after JESUS, how then can the claim of “self salvation” through the bible be true, when as a matter of fact and time, the protestant church cannot be the ONE church formed by JESUS.

Catholics are not guaranteed salvation by being Catholic. JESUS grants salvation, not the catholic church. But Catholics have the roots and facts and time that undeniably lead directly back to the day, month, moment and voice of JESUS declaring the formation of HIS church. Read the gospel of Matthew and you will see that GOD the FATHER chose Peter, not JESUS, JESUS " …for MY part I pronounce you Petra and upon this Rock I will build MY Church." paraphrase. GOD selected, and JESUS anointed. Just as GOD chose Abraham, and Moses so HE chose Peter.

Salvation is granted by JESUS to those who love. If you love you cannot be associated in any fashion with the murder of children, or any organization or party that supports the murder of children. If you love you cannot be racist, you cannot hate the “image of GOD” which is in each of us. If you love you must provide charity with mercy. Open the doors as everyone is welcome, turn no one away, but teach the truth of JESUS. If you love, you follow JESUS and HIS WAY, TRUTH , LIGHT and LIFE.

There is no single Protestant doctrine of salvation. It’s one of the many things they have been constantly quarreling about down through the centuries. There is a major, and very noticeable, split between the minority of Protestants who assert “Once Saved, Always Saved,” often abbreviated to OSAS, and the majority whose various beliefs are less radically different from Catholic doctrine. But to try and get them all sorted out on paper in a neat chart would be an unending task.

the quote " But Catholics have the roots and facts and time that undeniably lead directly back to the day, month, moment and voice of JESUS declaring the formation of HIS church"

so does the Anglican communion -the Old catholics -of course the Orthodox

Yes indeed. My friend came from a denomination that believed if you sinned “too much” or “too gravely” it cast doubt on your saved state. You might be backslidden or you were never saved at all depending on your “real” sincerity at the time or maturity. She is now Catholic.

Philippians 3:13FF (NAB)

Brothers, I for my part do not consider myself to have taken possession. Just one thing: forgetting what lies behind but straining forward to what lies ahead,

I continue my pursuit toward the goal, the prize of God’s upward calling, in Christ Jesus.l

Catholics are the original Christians, no “if” about it.

Catholics don’t believe OSAS, we work at being saved continuously, by being faithful to God and the Church, following the doctrine & teachings of the Church, living our faith. Salvation is a freely given gift to all, one we can’t earn but one we can reject.

I went to a Baptist service with a guy I was dating at the time. One part of the sermon stuck with me-- about how you can repent/accept Jesus at this point in time and be saved, and you can repent/accept Jesus at that point in time and be saved, but if you’re on your deathbed and feeling sorry about your life choices— tough luck, pal! It’s too late! No salvation for you!

I thought that was rather harsh.

In general, living in Texas, which has a strong Southern Baptist presence, I generally hear people from the OSAS perspective. From the Catholic perspective, salvation is a process, one that doesn’t end as long as your soul is in your body. You’re always working towards it— but you can never take it for granted. Just like Adam and Eve were able to forfeit their place in Eden through their free will, we are able to forfeit our place in Heaven if we are reckless with ours.

Catholics take literally all of the NT that describes how to be saved, which consists of faith, repentance, perseverance and good works.

Acts 2:37-38 Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brethren, what shall we do?” Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins

Romans 2:7 To those who by perseverance in good works, seek for glory, honor, and immortality, he will give eternal life.

2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

John 6: 54 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.

2 Cor 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

Rev 20:12-13 And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds.

There is more to salvation than just faith alone:
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter.” Matt 7:21

Does a Catholic know for certain that they are saved and have a place in heaven?

So do Christians believe that every type of Christian can go to heaven?

Catholics believe that anyone at all can go to Heaven, Catholic or Pentecostal, Unitarian or Jew, Muslim or agnostic. However, we believe that the only Way any of them get there is through Jesus Christ and by His Catholic Church…

In other words…you don’t have to be Catholic to get to Heaven (though that is the normal way) but everyone in Heaven is Catholic. 🙂

Nobody does. That would be a false, unbiblical doctrine.
That would make for a very impoverished spiritual life indeed. Imagine if i was adopted into a family but they never made it clear to me that i was truly a part of that family. I would always be left wondering if i really had a place to come home to. I would always feel on edge. Not a good way to live . Home should be a place where they will always receive me, no matter what. The Bible tells me that" The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit that we are the children of God. " If one cannot have confidence, then you are not living in victory and you will not truly live an abundant life as Jesus promised it. Jesus said “My sheep know My voice and they follow Me”. King David knew that he was saved and never doubted. That is true humility. But now we have a better covenant than David. A Muslim can never know for sure that he is saved unless he becomes a martyr for Islam. This is a poor deel. I thank God that i can know.
