What is The Real Genius of Christianity?

The genius of Christianity is Love, a divine Person, not a thing. It is easy to criticize the Church for the failures of many of its members; to look at the human side of things. The point is that if the Church was a purely human institution it would have failed and dissolved into oblivion centuries ago.

Instead, with weak human beings seemingly at the helm, the Church continues to grow and the influence on the world and the state of human existence has been enormous. The Church is responsible for higher education, hospitals and health care, the basis for our civil laws, to being the primary giver of food, clothing and shelter to the poor all over the world. The Church’s positive influence on all our lives cannot be denied. That is not even to mention the spiritual component from which all else springs and the power of the Church’s prayers. It brought down the iron curtain without firing a shot.

To say that the Church “invented an illness” is to ignore human reality. Who can deny that sin and evil and death have entered our world? Christianity is the cure because Christ is the cure, not for an invented disease, but rather a very real and deadly disease. As I have demonstrated above the Church does not just speak against evil, it goes into action and accomplishes good for the sake of God’s kingdom and the dignity of every human being. In spite of the failures of men throughout the centuries, the Church goes on and continues to do good throughout the world because Christ is its head and the Holy Spirit its guide and there are enough holy people within its walls to carry out Christ’s mission.

Yes, I affirm Steve’s previous post…that the great thing about Christianity is that
GOD IS LOVE.

Before, God cared for the Jews and all mankind, but particularly for the Jews…whose mission was to bring mankind the Decalogue and the Messiah.

There still were unanswered questions about evil and suffering…and Jesus became the Manna from Heaven, the sacrificial Lamb, the atonement for sin who carried our stripes, and was placed on a tree…

Who rose from the dead, and through the Risen Lord, became our Eucharist…Who walked with His disciples on the Road to Emmaus…

That now we have God come to us, Who walks with us, Who is the only thing that brings sense to suffering and evil…and that He bears our walk of suffering and sorrows with us.

We are no longer alone. He makes our burden light. He loves to the greatest and most perfect degree…that we Christians do not spend enough time thinking about how much God loves and cares for us. Even now, 2000 years later.

Man was the highest of God’s creation…and God came to us and no less, as Man to be with us…no more in the sky or invisible…but present as Nourishment and LOVE and Life.

The great Christian revolution has been to convert pain into fruitful suffering and so turn a bad thing into something good. We have deprived the devil of his weapon; and with it we can conquer eternity

While I might often seem to be somewhat flippant in what I say and sometimes joke about Judaism, in four and a half years and over 6000 posts, you’d find that, actually, I never give an inch.
You will be surprised what people can glean from your posts:
  1. Tongue-in-cheek.
  2. The burden of being a Jew and in the end to get what, Israel? While the non-Jew has easier requirements yet can still inherit the world to come.
  3. This is repugnant; you can’t be serious, a man-God? (We prefer more accurately God made man).
Who is Jesus?
  1. The New Testament is a pious myth.
  2. Christianity invented a sickness and prescribed itself as a cure.
etc.

I need to clean my gleaner because all I could glean from Kan’s posts was that the perception of the catholic is that the jew must be corrected, lest they be infected.

For me, the Genius of Christianity is an understatement.

In particular, I would say the Beatitudes state exactly what God really wants from all of us, especially Luke 6:28 and Matthew 5:44. It is basically quite unnatural for a human to do it and we must.

This is a extremely hard teaching, but can you imagine eventually what kind of world we would live in by following it? Beyond our imagination. Only God can think like this.

Actually, there is NO GENIUS to Christianity.

It is Jesus Christ, the Son of God became Man…making God now visible to mankind. It is Jesus Who is the life, the means, the fruit of good works, the meaning of life.

Jesus Christ, Word Incarnate is the Genius of Christianity. We are empty vessels waiting to be redeemed and filled with Christ’s new life…at the banquet table at Mass.

Exactly, I’m positive the idea was for any to come and be granted eternal life be it deaf dumb or blind, Lord forbid.

Peace

Christ did not come for the genius.

He came for the deaf, the dumb, the imprisoned…the sick…those who mourn…the weak…to find their strength and new life in Him.

Christianity is utter foolishness except for the fact that it is true.

God became Man. This is something “the wise” will never accept. It is the source of Christianity’s genius.

The belief that Christianity succeeds because people are dumb and are fooled by some trick is just a very bad theory.

Is this the real genius of Christianity?

If not, what is it and why?
The genius is the God that created Christianity in order to save us and make a way to be his son/ daughter.

Hi 1voice, I have a question: Whose son or daughter could you be otherwise?

Or…just of yourself…there is an inclination for modern man to make himself his own god.

Isn’t that the truth. What did the Pope call the USA? A Dictatorship of Relativism, Blessed Mother Teresa called the USA the poorest fo the poor, spirtually bankrupt. And what is truly sad is they do not even know it, thus they cannot find the path out.

In the world population today One Quarter of all incarcerated are in the USA. Good Old Moms Apple Pie:thumbsup:

Of course no one listens to Catholics, simple because their mannerism is so low Key. Somehow modern man interpreted this as irrelevant.

This is the USA we are talking about do we actually need to discuss Russia, China or other the other illustrious civilizations on earth?

Of course the theory is, we have no problem, for we are able to do “whatever” we want to do. What a wonderful philosophy of life, which leads directly to…???

Peace

Hi Gary,

Living in an anti-Catholic ‘Christian’ culture my whole life in the most unchurched and most active in casual sex…Had to put that in…‘all the lovin’’ not leading to a holy life…

And seeing our area become, no surprise, a main center now for human trafficking…
I say it is high time Catholics stop being on the defensive of being Catholic, take the bushel off, and start becoming a beacon of light to contemporary society.

Otherwise, I would like to go back to a poor country and live with more sensible people.
