What is the solution to overpopulation that is not abortion?

Tesla is one of the biggest companies in the world and is about electric cars which inevitably the future, then planes will be next. Solar energy continues to increase in use and efficiency. Same with wind and nuclear. This is a bad argument imo.

Renewable energy has returns that are not that high. They may be able to support the current population, but only for basic needs. If any, that’s further proof of overpopulation.

Worse, my previous point stands: investments in them will be made because investors assume ever-increasing consumption of energy and resources. That’s because that’s how they will be able to maximize their ROIs.

Most of those who are not Catholic have no problem with using other methods of contraception which allow for greater spontaniety when it comes to sex.
I don’t think I said anything to the contrary.

As to your statistics, I will note again that both illiterate Hindus and people in China have used it and used it successfully; I have a bit of a doubt that China would so openly approve it if it had as low a success rate as you indicate; but perhaps you have specific information indicating why China approves it in spite of its lack of success.

China had a one child policy for years where you would be fined for having more than one child. Though I’m not saying China has good policies but it could be one solution.

It is succesfull. A percentage in the high 90’s if used correctly. And doing it correctly means, for example, continuously taking quite accurate temperatures on very regular intervals and charting them to work out the times when you couldn’t conceive.

If you had a group of people who were illiterate then perhaps the success rate would be something less than the real life average of around 70%. Certainly no more.

And I don’t see any reason why anyone in China would not approve any form of contraception. Although considering NFP’s relatively low rate of success compared to other forms of contraception, plus the fact that contraception is free in China I don’t see why it would be specifically promoted. There are no figures to indicate how many.people use it in the linked article.

Leave it to God.

Thou Shalt not Kill. So don’t .*
  • capital punishment for things like a murder would be JUST.
But mercy is better where possible.

The victims have a right to justice, and some people are multiple murderers with only ONE life to “give back” …
or to be taken in justice.

Capital punishment would depopulate a bit.

But … IS depopulation even a good thing (as it almost appears in this thread’s headline)?

Tonight in the U.S., doubtless, some new babies born.

And the mother probably didn’t get yelled at by a crowd of left think social justice warriors
😠😩 about polluting “the planet” with more overpopulation. 👼👨‍👦‍👦👩‍👧‍👦

ALSO tonight … we were depopulated by one Ruth Bader Ginsburg … and even her opponents aren’t cheering out loud about what a blessing it is for the overpopulation cause.

🤔 I would hope. 😬🤯

People may actually BE being euthanized quietly
in hospitals and senior centers.

A brief unplugging … a relative’s decision to not render assistance to an unconscious parent … spouse (Michael Schaivo!) … or child.

The Church mostly leaves it to God … and God does take action in HIS time. Although those He takes … then populate somewhere else.

When we say the “Our Father” … we ought to reflect on even that FIRST word.

He’s the Father of the invalids, elderly AND the unborn …
  • (Luke 1:41-45): < pregnant Mary called “Mother” by the Holy Spirit filled person. The “unborn” are called child and baby < (twice).
Give ol’ King Herod a posthumous Nobel Peace Prize for his fine efforts in depopulating Bethlehem with his courageous military assisted government mandate? 😖 Ugh.

Overpopulation is not a problem …depopulation is not a good thing.

And the much offended social justice warriors seldom propose beginning the solution by starting with themselves.

The Church also teaches suicide is a mortal sin (and a mortal act!) …

… and probably won’t grant a pre-suicidal dispensation for political zealots … even if the suicidal one thinks he has “greater love” and is “laying down his life for his friends.”

Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not seek its own way …
(1 Corinthians 13).

🤔 if depopulation is a virtue … are Stalin, Hitler, Mao and Pol Pot saints?

I have seen that in recent literature on the matter. For example, in 2013, the return for photovoltaic was estimated at 7. In 2017, one real-world study shows that it’s at less than 6.

Second, the minerals needed for renewable energy components plus oil needed for 70 pct of mining, up to half of manufacturing, and most of shipping all face diminishing returns. For example, the return for oil almost a century ago was around 100. Now, it’s around 10.

It’s been found that increase to quality of life and education leads to lower birth rates as people wait longer to become parents. This is true even without access to abortion or contraception.

Apart from that, another solution that’s popular with futurists is extraterrestrial colonization. If the land on the Moon or on Mars can be made livable then Earth won’t have to carry the full brunt of the human population.
