Hi RebeccaJ! How are you this early morning? Good, I hope. šŸ™‚

I think Jerusha was actually asserting that my ā€œinterpretationā€ of our purpose in life didn’t agree with the LDS temple endowment. I can’t think of anything I’ve posted in this thread that any other Christian wouldn’t agree with. My primary point has been to show how the Book of Mormon describes the Tree of Life to be the Savior and the fruit of the Tree of Life to be Eternal Life. I mean, all of my posts on this thread have been talking about how we need to come to Jesus, emulate His life, and rely on His mercy and on the atonement and we will have Eternal Life. This seems to align with the beliefs of every Christian I’ve ever spoken to. Do you disagree that we need to come to Jesus, emulate His life, and rely on His mercy and on the atonement to have Eternal Life?

Actually, reading your posts, it seems that your understanding of the tree of life is very similar to what I’m describing. That’s neat! šŸ‘

Have a good day today!

Kind Regards,
Finrock
Thankyou again for your post. I do find it intresting that the only two churches that have anything to say on the Tree of Life are LDS and the Catholic Church. I’m learning alot on your churches teaching.šŸ‘

This is so beautiful!!
Then the angel showed me the river of life-giving water, sparkling like crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of its street. On either side of the river grew the tree of life that produces fruit twelve times a year, once each month; the leaves of the trees serve as medicine for the nations. Nothing accursed will be found there anymore. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him. They will look upon his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. Night will be no more, nor will they need light from lamp or sun, for the Lord God shall give them light, and they shall reign forever and ever. (Rev 22:1-5)
I finished revising, really, not many changes. šŸ˜‰

**The problem I have is through Covenant eyes it makes the Catholic Church so beautiful and yet these priest are the authority of the Church through their local parishes. I seek truth so if the leadership doesn’t understand or not open to what you have shown me to be Catholic teaching, I have a problem with that. I understand everyone has there own opinion. But doesn’t the leadership in a church have a responsibility to know what their church teaches? I still have a problem with Holy Orders for only a few, not everyone, but I’ll save that for another thread. Do you think my problem is that I dell to deep in the Scriptures for the Catholic Church? **
Not liking Scott Hahn doesn’t mean a priest does not understand Catholic belief, or, that they are not open to what you are saying.

What I have said here is believed by all Catholics. There are different approaches to the same conclusion. You can go at Truth from different ways. The basics are, Jesus is our Salvation. God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son. The Eucharist is central to everything in the Catholic Church. There are many metaphors that Catholics use. Bread of Life is the most common. It isn’t a giant leap from Bread of Life to Tree of Life.

Also, any Catholic who has venerated the Cross, especially during Holy Week, understands completely what we are talking about here. They may express it differently, but it is the same Truth.

St. Augustine taught on the Tree of Life, you can read it here:

Thankyou once again Rebecca you have given me a lot to think about and pray on. One other hurdle I have, I started a new thread. I do get in some deep thoughts on Scripture it drives my wife crazy at times. It is refreshing to have others that want to dwell deep into Scriptures and not just to stay with what they are most comfratable with.šŸ‘

You are welcome. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It give me things to think and pray about too. šŸ™‚

šŸ™‚ I hope my post didn’t come across as all blah blah blah no one is interested in the deep stuff but me. lol. I am but a little fish in a BIG pond. I have explored but a small bit of the pond. For example, your scriptural knowledge is something I wish I had. There are times where keeping to the basics is where I need to be and what I do. Thanks racing59 for starting this thread. I have enjoyed the discussion, all around.
JL: Not at all Rebecca, your post were very good. I read scripture, books, listen to tapes, and CDs, by good Catholic apologists. When I read or listen I always have a notebook with the topic being discussed and take notes especially writing down the scriptures, I jot down a few key words to jar my memory. I then make cheat sheets in my computer with those scriptures in my own words and understanding.
