Thanks for the update 😃 your days are longer now,so I should be able to view easily.

Yes, most definitely!

As we head into Summer next month, they’ll be getting longer.

Once we get there, they’ll start to shorten up again.

If you look at the camera now, it’s still light enough although they put the camera on night-time vision when it starts to get dark there.

They’re in the Eastern Time Zone there, so they’re an hour ahead of me, where I’m in the Central Time Zone.

Sometimes I even get things a bit confused here, regarding the time zones, and I live here in the U.S! 😁 😉

Yes ,the days would be quite warm ,they both had their wings away from their bodies The mother is so gentle feeding chick!😃

I was showing my daughter some of our young roosters the other day and one sitting on my knee pecked at her jacket lining that looked like animal fur giving it a good twist and tug 🙂 The chickens will run after and snap up mice if they get a chance.Another day I was talking to my favorite and he pecked my shiny front tooth
anything shiny has to be pecked at ,including eyes 😁

I dunno. Probably.

It’s a reoccurring theme in mythologies for snakes and birds to hate each other. Snakes being evil/devious and birds being good.

I love pigeons/doves they are so adorable the way they bob their heads when they walk, and when they become puffy when cold.

I like them precisely because they are everywhere, I’ve grown an attachment to them❤️

@oldgraymare2 I’m sorry they pooped on you

They’re under-appreciated as war heroes as well.

This is the kind of dove in my area, I like the normal pigeons as well, I’m sure everyone knows what they look like.

Cardinals were always my favorite too.
They are the prettiest and had the best call.
And they are the state bird of Ohio where I grew up.
Seeing one in the yard was always a special treat.

The Native Americans in the Southwest thought seeing an owl was bad luck.
I remember being out in the desert years ago testing some military system and while driving to the test site, I saw a ground owl out messing around in broad daylight.
The system broke that day and the local techs said it was because I saw an owl.

I still like owls though.

I played a little catch-up yesterday chasing birds up and down the mountain. At the oak/grasslands elevation I encountered my 170th species for 2018, a Hooded Oriole. Here’s a picture of it.

In the mixed pine/deciduous fores of a higher altitude canyon I encountered 33 species of bird including this Grace’s Warbler, year bird #172

And finally, I found these two Black-headed Grosbeaks at a feeder in the small village at the top. I’ve already seen them this year, I’m just including them because they’re pretty birds.

I was too far away and in bad light but I like a bird with a can-do attitude.

Saw several Australian Pelicans flying near the dock lands at Melbourne today…like boats in the sky 🙂

I saw my first humming bird of the year, and it was having a ball with the honey suckle in full bloom.

Today at the beach I saw snowy egrets!

Some bird heads from my last bird painting class. It’s amazing when getting into the color of these birds how they follow color theory. For example, the Lucy’s Warbler was painted with just two complementary colors, cobalt turquoise and cadmium red. These creatures really make me wonder.

Those are really good!

My out of focus photos remind me a little of impressionist paintings 😠

This morning I saw, for the first time ever, a wild turkey eating bird seed out of a bird feeder. The feeder is hung rather low in a neighbor’s garden, and the turkey had to stretch upward to reach it. I approached to take a picture, but the bird was shy and walked away.

I wonder where this guy went. I kinda miss him.

Does this happen a lot around here? Do people just not show up for a while?

They do. They’ll take a break when they feel that the forum especially starts to take up too much of their time.

He announced on another thread awhile ago that he would be taking a break.

He’s a great guy and a lot of fun to post, and I miss seeing him around as well. Hopefully we’ll see him around in the not too distant future. 🙂
