I’m so glad that you’re enjoying the Osprey cam.Do a birds feathers change during the winter to keep them warmer?
My osprey is asleep on the webcam. I was just pondering this and that.
I don’t feel so bad now about sleeping longer since learning that birds sleep 12 hours a day.

I notice now that the pugnacious male lets at least one other hummer use the feeder, and I’m assuming that is his mate or some other relative. That bird is more skittish and flies away if I’m at the window, but the male is bold.Anna’s Hummingbird’s naturally look chunky and dark. That’s what you got there.
Then I wonder if Anna’s just chase off other Anna’s. You mentioned black-chinned, and I think I have seen these at the feeder too. What I’ve seen is one hummer drinking, and then another shows up, and out of nowhere the dominant Anna’s swoops in with its scratchy battle cry chasing the second one off but leaving the first one to drink in peace. It’s all very interesting and entertaining.Hmm, I wonder.
