This bird is in my garden eating the apples at present.See the red wattles it has like a hen? 🙂

 
I was attacked once by a rooster. He clawed at my legs and smacked them with his wings.

Here’s one of those nasty empids I warned everyone about. I encountered this bird migrating along the De Anza trail. This was the 143rd species of bird I’ve encountered this year. I’m going to make you guess what it is.

It kind of reminds me of the tiny Bushtits I see around here (I think that’s what we have here - their name sounds like a bad word, by the way 😮), except ours are solid grey without the white feathers in the wings. Ours congregate all over in groups of about 10 to 20 making rapid single chirps to each other and flitting through small trees and bushes eating tiny bugs.
 
Did you ever see a hummingbird catching small gnats from a swarm in the air? I once did. At first I had the impression that the hummingbird was doing some kind of dance, bobbing up, down, forward, back, and sideways. Looking more closely, I saw that it was flying around a swarm of gnats and snatching them one by one out of the air. For the bird, it may be an important source of protein, and a welcome break from a diet of nectar.

I had a close up look of ducks this morning ,as I helped prepare them for the table.
It’s just that time of year ,Autumn ,when these deeds need to be done.I won’t attach a photo .
A children’s prayer that just came to mind…

What were these ducks doing at the table? Wouldn’t they be more at home out of doors? You Aussies certainly are a queer folk.
 
Well, I shouldn’t call it boasting exactly. Most people and birds who boast need people to know how excellent they are, while I’m quite sure everyone is already quite well informed about that concerning my unmatched skill at besting my scaled and somewhat slippery fellows of an aquatic persuasion.
 
Perhaps with persuasion and kind talk they could be trained to deliver .

Quite so, I had forgot. Well, in any case, I am not averse to speaking with you as long as it doesn’t get around to my kin, as they frown heavily on such interactions with those not among the Noble class.
 
Ho ho ha. You forget that the Egyptians worshiped cats as gods, and cats have never forgotten that.
