That is very hard to pic just one John is very good and Isaiah but the most open to the heart and the love between us and God is the Psalms.
I drive over the road for a living and have noticed many exit numbers are my favoite Psalms. Highway 96 to Lansing has many exit that are may favorite that corespond to the Psalms 133, 129,122,117,110 and then my favoite when I get to where the land sings Psalm 96 " Sing a new song unto the Lord, sing to the Lord all you lands anounce His Salvation every day. God Bless
Mine has also got to be John! The beauty of what makes us different from everyone else is there. My favorite chapter(s) is the Bread of Life Discourse and Jesus’s prayer. I love how He prays for unity! He gives Jesus such a “human” quality while proving that he is also Divine - what a combination to try to portray!
Acts is next - there’s drama and comic relief in the beginning of THE church! I feel for the poor boy who feel out of the window when Paul was preaching! How many times have our own eyelids been doopy during a homily?! Thank goodnes we weren’t sitting on a window sill! I love how you can see the beginning of church structure - the magesterium and the formation of our earliest beliefs!
Romans and Hebrews are also favorites! So many issues are addressed directly! It’s nice to know that we, in the 21st century are not dealing with issues that are only particular to us! They are the very same issues of 2000 years ago!
I also love Daniel, I love Susans story and the three saints who were thrown into the furnace whos names I won’t attempt to spell.
I think of Job alot and am thankful I have him to put my small sufferings into perspective!
I’ve never thought of this question. There’s just so much in the Bible.
The Book of Ruth is great for Chapter One. It covers over 20 years of history in just a few verses, and Ruth’s statement of faith is so great and simple.
I like Luke especially for Mary’s magnificat. “My soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour.”
Luke 16 is the scary portrait of Hell. Our friends are not there. The man in hell is in torment. There is no relief. Jesus told us what Hell is really like. A lot of churches advertise that they are ‘full gospel’ churches. The full gospel includes this portrait of hell.
Hebrews 12:2 For the joy that was before Him, [Jesus] rejected the shame of the cross. What a Saviour.
Psalm 90. (KJV) O Lord you have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were born, or ever You brought forth the earth and the seas, from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.
Ezekiel 36.26 I will sprinkle you with water and give you a new heart…
Job 1:21 “Naked I came forth from my mother’s womb,
and naked shall I go back again.
The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away;
blessed be the name of the LORD!”
