An affair to remember with Cary Grant. Makes me cry every time!

Adult movie: The Godfather :clapping:
Family Movie: The Incredibles :bounce:

You may question my saying that The Incredibles is a family film, but a certain light-heartedness makes it such.

Singing in the Rain

First time I saw it, my friend made me stay up and watch it (this was in high school and she was spending the night with me). I was exhausted and was looking forward to some sleep, but I stayed up anyway…its been my favorite ever since!

Even my kids are enjoying it!
👍 Good movie!

Although it’s not my absolute favorite, I do agree with previous posters that Random Harvest with Greer Garson and Ronald Colman is an excellent film, of a type that they just don’t seem to know how to make anymore.

My all-time favorite film is Casablanca, with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. I don’t think a more perfect entertainment has ever come out of Hollywood. It has the perfect cast and screenplay, and several scenes that send chills up your spine. When all the habitues of Rick’s Cafe stand up and roar out “Le Marseillaise” in open defiance of the listening Nazis, I want to cheer!

My very close runner-up is Babette’s Feast, a Danish film based on a novella by Isak Dinesen(Baroness Karen Blixen). This is a moving and funny story about the power of self-sacrifice and unconditional love, and I credit it with helping me to realise my true Christian self and steering me towards the Catholic Church, to which I converted ten years ago. This is well worth seeing, but if you rent it, please get the version with subtitles instead of the dubbed, as the translation in the latter is very inaccurate and you will get a false impression of the film.

I went into tap dancing because of that movie! And I adore it!

Rear Window…starring Jimmy Stewart.
My 8 yr old and 16 yr old love it too!

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
Iron Monkey
Ten Tigers of Kwan Tung
Fist of Legend

I could go on.What can I say,I am a nut for new and old kung fu movies.

I don’t think I could choose just one. It depends on the mood I’m in.
Fiddler on the Roof: When I was a teenager it was on what was cable TV at the time. My dad didn’t think I’d like it but I loved it! I now own a copy and my dad and I quote it often.
The Ten Commandments: I own a copy of it but every year at Easter time when it’s on TV I still watch it.
Lord of the Rings, Star Wars (yep all 6 of them. I’m a real geek! 😃 )
*I Love You to Death *(with Kevin Klein, Tracy Ulman, River Phoenix, too funny!), and of course *Passion of the Christ. *
Wow! Quite the variety.

The Princess Bride

I just love that fencing scene between Inigo Mantoya and the Dread Pirate Wesley!

Hi Jason, I’ve never seen Babette’s Feast, although I’ve read good things about it. On your recommendation I’ll see if I can rent it sometime soon.

The reason I cited your comment about BF is because viewing the Ralph Bakshi cartoon version of LOTR led me to read the book which in turn steered me towards the Catholic Church, so I credit Tolkien, in part, for my reconciliation with Christ’s Church.

Isn’t it amazing what the Holy Spirit can do with such popular works of fiction? That point seems to have eluded our Catholic publishers who, with a few exceptions, will not publish fiction preferring apologetics and theological works, as if they and they alone have any influence on the hearts and minds of non-Catholics. It’s a pet gripe of mine, as you can tell.

BRIAN’S SONG (made in 1972),
with James Caan and Billy Dee Williams. Hands down. I’d skip any other program to watch that movie. Caveat: I watch it ALONE, cuz it’s the one film that makes me break down and sob.

Have you ever seen a korean movie called Musa the Warrior? It reminds me a lot of Bravehart.Korean general (envoy)and his warriors fighting in the dessert to keep a chinese princess out of the hands of the mongolian horde.Same kind of vaylor on the battlefield although not as large scale.Beware though,it is sub titled if thats not your thing.Keep it mind the next time you are looking for a good flick on a Friday night,if you liked Bravehart you won’t be disappointed.

*The King and * I, with Yul Brenner and Diana Kerr
Sabrina, the original with Audrey Hepburn
It’s A Wonderful Life
Willow

UtahMaggie mentioned the The Ten Commandments. That was the first big movie I ever saw and when I couldn’t stay up to watch the whole thing (I was 8) I made my mother tape it for me so I could watch it later. Not much of a favorite but I fell in love with the story of Moses because of it and had to read the biblical story.

Top Gun — my heart still races watching those men play volleyball 😃

I have lots of favorite movies.

Apollo 13
The Sting
Passion of the Christ
Braveheart
A Christmas Story
All the Indiana Jones movies
National Treasure
Open Range
The Patriot
Patton
Summer of 42
Thirteen Days
