I don’t have a single favorite movie. I have many, too many…

How could I forget about the Sound of Music? One of the best all-time movies.

Picking a favorite movie of all time… man talk about choices and since I would never be able to do it, I will list several…

I to can admit to being a War Movie junkie, I love the relationship shown between the men, and what they went through. Makes one really thankful for them. We Were Soldiers, Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, Sgt. York, Green Berets, Sands of Iwo Jima and the list goes on. War should never be glorified, but the price for freedom should never be forgotten…

Now, I am also a huge nerd, so all the Star Wars films, the Lord of the Rings Movies, Indy Jones, Star Trek, Serenity, Battlestar Galactica (1978), Princess Bride… All entertaining, and hard to turn past if I find them on a movie channel…

Old Westerns, anything with John Wayne…

Old stuff like The Court Jester with Danny Kaye, any Bing Crosby Movie

Passions of the Christ

Robin Hood Movies

Knights of the Round Table movies

There is just to many, it would be easier to pick movies I don’t like…

Now, the most recent favorite would have to be The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I loved each and every book and read them till the pages about fell out and I don’t think I blinked durning the movie…

Another good sports movie (minus the cussing ) is “Remember the Titans.” Great story.

I doubt if I could narrow it down to just one favorite movie. Despite the preponderance of horrendous offerings from Hollywood there have been several over the years that rank as excellent and that I could literally watch every day. In no particular order:

Akira Kurosawa’a Seven Samurai. OK, this one is in order. Best movie ever. A great movie about honor, duty and self-sacrifice.
The Passion of the Christ
Replacement Killers. What can I say? Cho Yun Fat is a great actor and this is actually a movie about trying to do the right thing.
Dances With Wolves
Singin’ in the Rain. Before reading this thread I thought I was the only one who still liked this movie.
Oceans 11. George Cluney shoud definitely stick to this type of buddy/heist flick instead of trying to make political statements. Great fun.
Tombstone. Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday. Excellent. Oh, and the references to the Apocalypse and Doc Holiday’s conversion to Catholicism were interesting, too.
Eat Drink, Man Woman. I’ve only seen this movie once, but it was phenomenal.
*The Matrix. Gnosticism is alive and well, but seeing Carrie-Ann Moss on screen makes that OK

Don’t know about KayDee but I’m a kind of Aussie. Lived there for several years and loved it - could go back to live any day I think.
One thing stopping me doing that would be the conservative Howard government - I saw the country change under his administration, for the worse. Australian society seems to becoming more and more smug, selfcentred, racist and materialistic. Natural consequences of the influence of a government for whom the most important things are money (and keeping it in the pockets of the well-off), keeping out people (ie refugees) who are different and creeping individualism? Perhaps a simplistic assessment of Deputy Howard’s leadership but not an untrue one.

Glad you liked Australia anyways - your political talk is fine with me, I agree 100%. I’ve done some work as an immigration consultant (trying to help people get in, so I’m one of the good guys!). The situation here with immigration is really a joke.

And I have nothing against Man From Snowy River at all - had a crush on the actor when it first came out

To be honest, I wasn’t totally forthcoming in my original answer for favorite movie. In fact, my REAL favorite movie is 1967’s Tony Rome. A detective story starring Frank Sinatra that is set in and filmed in Miami. It’s great to see the old hometown in it’s mid-century splendor. The movie wasn’t THAT bad I guess, since the movie “earned” a sequel, 1968’s Lady In Cement. Yes, it’s definitely my favorite movie.

I haven’t heard about this, but I did see something a while back about it being made into an anime-based video game. (IIRC, one of the characters was turned into a woman.) I’m not a fan of anime but if the story was the same as the movie’s and they kept some of the same shots it could be a good production. Of course, I’d be very interested in seeing how Suginio Yoshio’s martial arts choreography (based on Katori Shinto Ryu) translates to anime, if at all.
