Love the Sound of Music, Phantom or the Opera, and love, love, love The Greatest Showman.

West Side Story
Guys & Dolls
Hamilton
1776
The Music Man
(Honorable Mention to Oklahoma!)

Funny, I’ve never thought of The Blues Brothers as a musical. I love that film! Made in my hometown.
The Blues Brothers 2000 was good, too. John Goodman is an actor I always enjoy watching, but I never suspected he had such a talent for singing and dancing.

No one likes Joseph and his amazing technicolor dreamcoat?
Or Godspell? 😄

Many great choices mentioned above, but West Side Story is probably my favorite, followed closely by The Sound of Music.

Oops I forgot to mention my favourite.
My list is similar to the OP.
Though I would put phantom of the opera first and then JC superstar second.
3. My fair lady
4. Joseph
5. Fiddler on the roof
6. Sound of music

I love musicals! Those listed above are what I have written down as my dream Muny seasons. The Muny is an amazing outdoor theater here in St Louis that opens its 100th season tonight! I’m going Thursday😀.

I forget how much fun - a musical can be ! Great lists.

I heard Madonna did one - Evita - haven’t watched that -
But I did watch King and I - about 4 months ago - DVD
I was astounded how much fun the watch was for me.
Also -
there is a DVD out - on THE MAKING of West Side Story -
behind the scenes type action - the gathering of momentum -
How everyone knew it was going to be a hit -
and putting fourth their A game -

More than 20 posts in this thread and no mention of Sound of Music? You’d think that would show up on a Catholic forum . . . 😉

Others:

1776
Damn Yankees
Oklahoma!
My Fair Lady
Singing in the Rain

I love Sound of Music, too, most notably because I’ve spent lots of time in Salzburg, have often visited the monastery where Maria was a nun, even taken the Sound of Music tour (where we sang our heads off in the tour bus). I think it is so familiar to me that I am fairly sick of it, however.

I’m glad others have mentioned it first because my all time favourite is the Rocky Horror Show.
Also high on the list:
Jesus Christ Superstar
The Producers
Chicago
Avenue Q…

In no particular order:

Phantom of the Opera
My Fair Lady
Carousel
Ragtime
Bandstand
Hamilton

Now, I have never thought of the Blues Brothers as a musical. But if it counts, then it is easily probably the top. Not a big fan of the genre.
