I am an educated, above average adult with no children… however I have still acquired a taste for Spongebob Squarepants in addition to my previous selections. It is the only show besides Raymond that makes me laugh out loud. 😃

Everybody Loves Raymond (sometimes, it gets a little too mean, though)

Little House on the Prairie reruns

Gilmore Girls (left of center politically, but it’s clever pop culture references never fail to keep me on my toes)

Dr. Who re-runs (cheesy, but addictive)

Boy Meets World (especially the early years)

There has many a program came and gone with out me watching it. (Seinfeld, Friends, NYPD Blue, etc) also any of the so-called reality shows. We can’t get EWTN (Adelphia is too busy providing the pentecostal arm waving programs) So that leaves me with Raymond, Munsters, the weather channel, and the antiques roadshow. Also football.

I see so many “Raymond” fans. I guess I must be a total dolt. I just don’t think it’s funny. Doesn’t anyone else think all the sexual innuendos get a bit lame? I confess to not actually WATCHING it carefully. My husband watches reruns and I sometimes sit and try to watch it and usually walk out after about five minutes.

I must be wierd. Too many people seem to think it’s wonderful.

Yes Catsrus, Jerry Orbach died and it seems quite unexpected. He has suffered from prostate cancer for over a decade and it seemed to be under control. I wonder what happened as they apparently thought he was healthy enough to sign up for a new show. I already miss him. They had some tributes on L&O reruns the week he died. He was not THAT old.

The only TV we watch during Lent, except for morning news for traffic and weather, is Monk. It is THAT good. All television should be that good – great writing, acting, directing. AND it has been entirely unoffensive so far (after several seasons). You’ll hear the very rare “he||” or “d@mn,” but those words are said in context and not gratuitously. The Sharona character is Catholic and you see her in some episodes dealing with some Catholic themes (mentions of church, one episode dealt with the murder of her church’s deacon, etc.).

Regarding Sharona’s leaving the show, Bitty Schram wanted out of the show (don’t know why – and I think she will regret her decision!), so they are “replacing” her with a new sidekick – the character is a young single mother. Don’t know much beyond that, but the new season starts this month.

Other than that, I love ***Good Eats * ** on Food Network. Good stuff. Alton Brown is my current heartthrob!

Amy, I really enjoy Without a Trace. It sure puts you at the edge of your seat!

Love L&O too and I am SOOOOO bummed that Jerry Orbach died. I just loved him in this series. I was really looking forward to his new show. :crying:

I have never understood why anybody would enjoy “Raymond.” I caught a few minutes of it once and immediately realized that it’s pretty inane. I fail to see why it gets awards. So… I’ll join you in the “dolt” corner.

watching most of what is out there makes my physically ill. Except for sports, the TV is seldom on unless we have houseguests (like now, its on 18 hrs a day driving me nearly mad, spending long hours at work for a rest). What I would watch, if I were allowed is reruns of Touched by an Angel, Promised Land, ER (until Carrie figures out she is lesbian and the plots start to go downhill), when I am depressed Dick Van Dyke reruns take care of it. Nothing on TV today comes close for sheer funniness. comedies are stand-up, not true situation comedies, very little real comic genius on TV anymore. The drama comes more from mindless violence, not interaction and human relationships. I wonder if those writing for TV have any grasp of what constitutes true humor, true comedy, true drama. The mentality hovers at the level of 4 year olds playing in a sandbox. Crude, rude, lewd, and loud.

I did get hooked on Trading Spaces and other DIY shows when we were building and decorating our house, but the are getting old. How many colors of slipcovers can you try?

SPONGEBOB SQUARPANTS?
:rotfl: Sorry!

I’ve tried watching Friends, Raymond, KotH and a lot of other ‘new’ shows, and just don’t find them to be funny…

Some of my favorite shows are LHOtP, Promised Land, Touched by an Angel, Highway to Heaven, LandO, CSI, Without A Trace…

One show we all watched, and had a lot of fun with as a family, was Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction. We’d keep score, discuss why we thought it to be true or not and then compare notes at the end of the show and see who got the most correct answers.

My all time favorite show (which is FINALLY being released on DVD) was/is Northern Exposure(NX). Never has a TV show impacted me like this one. All I can say is, if you never saw the show, you missed a truly great gem.

SnowGarden…I see you listed GG’s…a lot of NX fans also enjoy GG, so you’d probably enjoy NX…if you decide to try it out, watch it in it’s original order if at all possible…although the eps don’t have to be watched in sequence, it does help retain some of the underlying storylines from ep to ep…

Some of my favorite tv shows.
CSI Las Vegas
Law and Order
Gilmore Girls
and JAG

Since I have no TV anymore, I have no favorite TV shows that I currently watch. Even when listening to radio I am trying to be more selective about what I listen to in an effort to avoid the trashy stuff. As the National Football League playoffs start I sometimes wish I had a TV to watch the games with (especially since I seem to live in an anti AM radio signal field).

EWTN… :yup:

I never fail to be fed something wonderful about our Faith. Even the ‘commercials’ are great. Thank God for EWTN and all the people connected with it, especially during Lent.

I agree. I particularly enjoy the Journey Home since I’m on my own journey Home. I love the World Over. It’s nice to get news without some of the incredible leftist slant we see on the alphabet channels. Also I enjoy many of their specials including lives of the saints and some of the pilgimage stories…shoot I guess I like almost all of it! Maybe a few things that don’t grab my attention right away but most of the programs are excellent.

BTW someone mentioned not getting the obsession with “Friends.” Me too. I guess I’m an unsufferable dolt. I just think the jokes are all the same and the people are not very inspiring. They seem shallow as the drip pan in my dish rack.

Hmmm. I don’t get cable at all so I’ve never seen EWTN. Sounds good though. My favorites are the Amazing Race ( just this season got addicted) Friends, King of the Hill, Dharma & Greg, (can’t believe they took that show off I loved it) Extreme Home Makeover, Oprah, Conan at night. Slowly weaning myself off “Guiding Light” and “That 70’s Show” :o Anymore I spend more time on here with you guys! 😃

Streamlink EWTN through the Internet, that is how I listen to the radio broadcasts and watch them too on my monitor. However, you have to find out how fast your Internet connection is and if your computer can handle the signals.
