What is Your Opinion on the Life Teen Mass?

I don’t really know what to think of it. I hate the loud, raucous music they have at the Mass, and dislike the way they pray the Creed. I know the priest who started it was excommunicated, too.

What do you guys think of it?
Is it really keeping teens at church?
Not much. It has also be shown that the music is the *last *thing that keeps them in Church. Teens move with the zeitgeist of the times, and then they mature and move on… to other music. Most of the time, they also “move on” to other denominations, unfortunately. If they come back to the Church at all, it is usually when they decide to get married and raise a family. And, in my opinion, THAT is where the emphasis should be.

It’s a bit of a leap to equate maturity with one’s taste in music.

One thing I don’t understand here. Several years ago, there were objections to various abuses in the Life Teen liturgy, and the bishop of Phoenix went to meet in Rome with the appropriate people and came away with a list of reprobated practices. At that point I thought they would promulgate the “new” rules and that Life Teen abuses were a solved problem.

Are those abuses still in practice to this day in the Life Teen Masses? Are there more which have crept in since then?

I’d rather have a root canal than attend a Life-Teen Mass… or any Mass where the adults try to make Mass “cool” and “relevant” and only succeed in making it “lame”

Since when has any progressive parish given two flips what Rome says?

Why should they start now? Nothing will happen if they disobey and a lot of Catholics on this board will continue to attend the abuse riddled Masses out of obedience.

The irony.

I have been searching for a less traditional church for some time. I have a question. I’ve found one with a Lifeteen Mass every Sunday. It is attended I’ve been told by all ages who find it uplifting and spiritual. Is it right to assume this parish is not traditional or is that too big a leap to assume?
How is it that you have had to “search” for a less traditional church in this day and age? Maybe you and I should exchange dioceses.

I will be attending my first Life Teen mass later today.

What should I expect?

Are iPods allowed?

How should I dress?

Will I need a surgical mask and gloves?
