Hollywood could *never *get away with a film like Blazing Saddles these days.Saw Blazing Saddles again. What was I thinking?
Iām not a horror fan at all, I can tolerate the occasional ghost/supernatural/monster type.I totally agreee on Silence of the Lambsā¦I couldnāt believe the senario that traumatized her as a kid it was too absurd plus I hate movies and stories to do with canabalismā¦nasty and not worth the time.
You are right, I would not make fun of religion or race enoughā¦Blazing Saddles is tame compared to say Southpark the movie⦠Or any of the spoof movies that are so common. Heck American Pie is more racy than Blazing saddlesā¦Hollywood could *never *get away with a film like Blazing Saddles these days.
Yes! That was awful. I was laughing it was so bad!Gravity
All the reviews and talk-show pushers led me to expect some kind of life-changing event, but I got just three words for it:
Stink-
er-
oo
(Why do we not have a smiley holding its nose?)

Ah yes, I forgot about this stinker. Totally a stupid movie, thanks for reminding me.Avatar
I hate this movie. My brothers all loved it, but I thought it was boring and predictable. The Dark Knight.
This was nothing but a second rate crime drama whose success was increased by the tragic death of Heath Ledge. Definitely not and Oscar worthy performance.
I thought the screaming lambs thing was dumb too. One of the reasons that movie lost points in my book.I totally agreee on Silence of the Lambsā¦I couldnāt believe the senario that traumatized her as a kid it was too absurd plus I hate movies and stories to do with canabalismā¦nasty and not worth the time.
Iāve never liked Singing in the Rain. I find it obnoxiously bad. Just my opinion I guess. The movie junkie in me double-cringed. I gotta ask: What made you include these?![]()
Yeah I donāt get the facination some have with Canabalism.Iām not a horror fan at all, I can tolerate the occasional ghost/supernatural/monster type.
I can not watch any serial killer type horror film. Iāve read too much true crime accounts, particularly those by FBI profilers to see these kind of things as entertainment. āSilence of the Lambsā just kept bringing up things human beings had actually done to each other.
Well I am in my 60ās and when those types of movies were made like Pretty in Pink and there was another movie with a group of up and coming hollywood stars that took place in a high school particularly the library but the name escapes me - I was in my 30ās and found those types of movies good. Now they are just silly and dumb. I laugh at the hairstyles and what they were wearing. Makes me feel really old though!I am going to show my age here with these two films- I am now in my later 40ās, but I look and feel much younger (most people think Iām somewhere between 36 and 41).
The Academy Awards often pick a āforeign filmā that the Academy likes. It makes the awards because it was released in New York and Los Angeles. While the critics rant and rave about it, the general public finds it boring. *The Unbearable Lightness of Being *was one of these - it was up for an award in 1987 or 1988.
Another movie IMHO that was overrated was St. Elmoās Fire. I saw this movie when I was 18 years old and thought it was the best movie ever, with many young actors of the day (Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, Mare Winningham, Demi Moore, and Rob Lowe) who went on to bigger and better things. Not long after I finished college, I saw it again on video with a few friends who were completing their graduate degrees (I was an older undergraduate who returned to college in his mid-20s, graduating at 28). Seeing the film ten years later and spending time outside of a university before returning to school, the movie *St. Elmoās Fire *was really stupid - it was nothing more than a bunch of recent college graduates complaining about how the āreal worldā was not what they expected, and how they werenāt āentitledā to anything. I felt the cast needed to wake up, smell the coffee, get to work, and go out and pay their dues. In the āreal worldā, no one can start at the top.

But I am lately getting a kick out of Rob Lowe pitching DirectTV in ads featuring the Love Theme from St Elmoās Fire.Another movie IMHO that was overrated was St. Elmoās Fire. ⦠with many young actors of the day (Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, Mare Winningham, Demi Moore, and Rob Lowe) who went on to bigger and better things.
Yes! Thank you!The Breakfast Club
Those Rob Lowe ads for Direct TV are hilarious! But I am lately getting a kick out of Rob Lowe pitching DirectTV in ads featuring the Love Theme from St Elmoās Fire.

Who still likes *The Breakfast Club *probably for reasons of irony
