I Guess it’s a combination of ‘pick your favorite Papal name’ and ‘guess who the next Pope will want to emulate’.

Honestly, don’t read too much into it. It’s just kind of a silly opinion poll.
 
I kind of like John Julius. . after both the beloved disciple/the Baptist 'voice in the wilderness/ and the 'warrior Pope". Kind of reflects the need to have love above all, but that the love may often cry out unheard in the wilderness, and that sometimes love needs to fight for the right.
 
I just wish there was a rule that the cardinal conclave would take at least 3 days to get to know each other before choosing a pope.
 
Why? There are only around 300 of them, and even if they personally dont know all of each other, they certainly have a good enough friend who can inform them of the others.

FYI there has already been a Marcellus II and Julius III, so if those names were chosen, they would be Marcellus III and Julius IV.

Am I alone in thinking this poll is in slightly poor taste? I’d like to keep our Pope as long as possible so don’t intend to even contemplate losing him until the Lord decides it’s time.
So, if you’ve seen Brewster’s Millions…‘None of the Above’

IMO I think your facts are making my case more than yours. 😉
 
I’m trying to say they already know each other. Those 3 days would be unnessecary.

If I took a random sampling of 300 higherups in the tech industry, IMO, there would be no more than 2 degrees of separation between any of them.
If you dont know someone yourself, a friend of yours does.
 
It would be great if the next was either a Francis, Benedict, or John Paul. It would add to the clarification of V2.

Maybe what we really need is a Pope Jude 😳
 
I think we are going to return to the days when popes kept their own names. So that would make the next pope Pope Reinhard.
