What other forums on the Internet are similar to CAF?

I was going to ask the same thing. Usually the other Catholic forums I encounter are radical-traditionalists or full sedevacantists…
This was one of the few places where Catholics who are strongly Catholic and adhere to the Faith, but do not think taking Communion in the hand is Eucharistic desecration or that COVID is not a globalist/masonic conspiracy to shutdown Masses around the world could post about Catholic issues and not be considered modernist heretics.

While there was a lot of trash posting (which I have been guilty of too), overall there were many posters on here that were very knowledgeable and I learned much about Catholic teachings, history, and practices I did not know before from them.

I would like to send my sincere thanks to all those people who made CAF a great place to learn about and discuss Faith related matters in a very constructive way.

Hard to believe we’re speaking of CAF in the past tense.

Never thought I’d see this day come.

It’s not?! 😟
No, nothing like that, it’s a vehicle to introduce a vaccine with nanochips in it, courtesy of Bill Gates, so that we will all develop an insatiable craving for Starbucks while we buy all our stuff from Jeff Bezos, imported from China. I thought everyone knew that by now 🤓

And I’m sorry, I don’t mean to bash Democrats
That’s a problem…you should bash the left and the ‘catholics’ that vote for them.
It’s a pretty bad time to close down CAF
Not really…seems there were quite a few cafers that supported abortion, redefinition of marriage and the other three Catholic non negotiables. If the forum leads to confusion on the teachings of Jesus then might as well call it a day.

I mean, at least a few of us are already here. [Catholic Common Sense
There is an existing username humilityseeker on those boards. Time to think up a new user name.

Nice thread adamhovey. I had no idea these other forums existed.

I see this segregation that is going on as a loss. CAF being a mixed pool is one of the main features here.

Likewise I won’t miss posts claiming that the end of the world is nigh thanks to a US election.

I’d like to join your group Tis_Bearself but your public profile doesn’t open for me, so no way to PM you?
Here’s a Facebook site I’m on that is an alternative; however, it doesn’t have the kind of in depth discussions that can sometimes be found here: Facebook Groups

Over the past 11 years I’ve learned a lot about the faith. Granted, at times this place has likely hurt my faith. But on the whole, I think the positive column wins the day.

As has been said though, this hasn’t really been CAF for a long time now.

Perhaps the fact that you have memories from a ‘before’ time (I’ve only heard about this mythical before time, haha) is related to our columns totting up differently.

I appreciate the people here who have prayed for me, and I’ve asked some everyday questions (like for book recommendations or about parish experiences) that received helpful responses.

And at the same time, my experience of CAF has unfortunately been net negative. The sneering scorn of so many users (in multiple directions, and I often feel alone in the middle, fully aligned with no specific camp); the fact that some threads never end, even after an indisputable Catholic dogma is quoted and explained in detail, and not only atheists but also self-identified Catholics will repetitively argue against the dogma (seemingly until the website literally closes down); the negative behaviours it provokes in me (addictively checking in and watching my time drift away; losing my temper arguing with a never-ending line of Internet strangers).

I was already withdrawing from CAF anyway (I only learned CAF was closing today because a friend messaged me on a different application and told me). With respect to the good people who’ve tried to do good things here, the bad weighed too heavily for me to think I’ll miss it.

But I will continue going to Catholic Answers for my theological questions. The primary teaching apostolate is great, regardless of whatever’s gone on with this sidebar discussion forum.

But what will happen to the people worried about whether breathing (or whatever) is a mortal sin?
