What religion is correct if the Catholic religion isn't? Also, my doubts.

John1:005:013 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
005:014 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
005:015 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
005:016 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
005:017 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
005:018 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
005:019 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
005:020 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
005:021 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen. <---------------------this is why

What makes you think it was God’s will for her to be born that way? The Devil also lives here, and the Devil is always breaking things and wrecking things that God has created.
I am very sure that it was not God’s will for that child to be born without a rectum.
I don’t know. Why does he allow it then? some people do seem to believe that everything that happens is God’s will. If these things that happen aren’t his will he must be allowing it as he is all powerful by definition. I have no idea why he would.

I struggled like this for years, rationalizing it in all kinds of ways. I’m sure science can find an explanation for why she was born like that, some kind of genetic problem, or an environmental pollutant who knows. I know it wan’t God’s will, but I don’t think it was the devil’s either. Life’s just damn unfair. If we accept an answer like it was God’s will or the devil did it, without looking at the causes we wouldn’t have cures to many of the things we do have cures for.

I honestly don’t know, I feel brow beaten and bothered, just like I used to. Talking here has made me realise that I don’t know, I have doubts, I can’t say for certain there’s no God, But I know that when I felt most certain, I was almost certainly wrong;)

You know the thing I miss, I miss praying to God, I miss telling him I’m sorry. Because bottom line, God or not I am sorry for the ****** things I’ve done. I’m not sure it’s my fault I can’t believe in it, aren’t some people just made that way?

Or do we obey Him because we love Him, and even though we know we can get away with it, we keep his rules. To break them would break our own hearts as much as His.
Stay strong, God bless.
Powerful words, thank you for that! 👍

I apologise for drifting from the thread, but ask Drifting away, have you ever thought about the odds against you being born?

Without going into the biology, you had around a 40,000 000 -1 chance. Think about the likeli-hood of your father meeting your mother and your grandparents etc etc, magnify that by the opportunties to procreate and you find that the odds against you being born are not in the millions to one nor even billions to one but actually trillions to one. Yet you exist, no one else but you. Your parents had ‘unique U’!

Was that coincidence?

If you think the answer is yes, would you like to enter the raffle again with odds of trillions to one and rely on you winning?

The inescapable fact is that actually there are no odds on it, you exist because God willed you to, that isn’t a raffle but an absolute certainty. God knew you from all eternity 🙂 That is our faith
So whenever someone wins a lottery it is because God willed it?
On your logic, the odds of every event that ever happens are astronomical.

BTW, what are the odds that an omnipotent being exists and has created everything?

Mary also needs a savior she was born from sin, and she is blessed but it does not say to pray to her or to have her pray for us look at V 47
44 For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

45 And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

46 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,

47 And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

48 For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

49 For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.
All Im saying is that we have ONE we should go to in prayer thats is GOD himself, Jesus God in the flesh God With us ,The first and the last.
"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God…20:4.5 “I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.” (Isaiah 42:8)
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made:" -Isaiah 2:8
“The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.” -Isaiah 2:11

Gen. 3:15 - we see from the very beginning that God gives Mary a unique role in salvation history. God says “I will put enmity between you and the woman, between your seed and her seed.” This refers to Jesus (the “emnity”) and Mary (the “woman”). The phrase “her seed” (spermatos) is not seen elsewhere in Scripture.

Gen 3:15 / Rev. 12:1 - the Scriptures begin and end with the woman battling satan. This points to the power of the woman with the seed and teaches us that Jesus and Mary are the new Adam and the new Eve.

John 2:4, 19:26 - Jesus calls Mary “woman” as she is called in Gen. 3:15. Just as Eve was the mother of the old creation, Mary is the mother of the new creation. This woman’s seed will crush the serpent’s skull.

Isaiah 7:14; Matt. 1:23 - a virgin (the Greek word used is “parthenos”) will bear a Son named Emmanuel, which means “God is with us.” John 1:14 - God in flesh dwelt among us. Mary is the Virgin Mother of God.

Matt. 2:11 - Luke emphasizes Jesus is with Mary His Mother, and the magi fall down before both of them, worshiping Jesus.

Luke 1:35 - the child will be called holy, the Son of God. Mary is the Mother of the Son of God, or the Mother of God (the “Theotokos”).

Luke 1:28 - “Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you.” These are the words spoken by God and delivered to us by the angel Gabriel (who is a messenger of God). Thus, when Catholics recite this verse while praying the Rosary, they are uttering the words of God.

Luke 1:28 - also, the phrase “full of grace” is translated from the Greek word “kecharitomene.” This is a unique title given to Mary, and suggests a perfection of grace from a past event. Mary is not just “highly favored.” She has been perfected in grace by God. “Full of grace” is only used to describe one other person - Jesus Christ in John 1:14.

Luke 1:38 - Mary’s fiat is “let it be done to me according to thy word.” Mary is the perfect model of faith in God, and is worthy of our veneration.

Luke 1:42 - “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.” The phrase “blessed are you among women” really means “you are most blessed of all women.” A circumlocution is used because there is no superlative in the Greek language. Note also that Elizabeth praises Mary first, and then Jesus. This is hyperdulia (but not latria which is worship owed to God alone). We too can go through Mary to praise Jesus. Finally, Catholics repeat these divinely inspired words of Elizabeth in the Rosary.

Luke 1:43 - Elizabeth’s use of “Mother of my Lord” (in Hebrew, Elizabeth used “Adonai” which means Lord God) is the equivalent of “Holy Mary, Mother of God” which Catholics pray in the Rosary. The formula is simple: Jesus is a divine person, and this person is God. Mary is Jesus’ Mother, so Mary is the mother of God (Mary is not just the Mother of Jesus’ human nature - mothers are mothers of persons, not natures).

Luke 1:44 - Mary’s voice causes John the Baptist to leap for joy in Elizabeth’s womb. Luke is teaching us that Mary is our powerful intercessor.

Luke 1:46 - Mary claims that her soul magnifies the Lord. This is a bold statement from a young Jewish girl from Nazareth. Her statement is a strong testimony to her uniqueness. Mary, as our Mother and intercessor, also magnifies our prayers.

Luke 1:48 - Mary prophesies that all generations shall call her blessed, as Catholics do in the “Hail Mary” prayer. What Protestant churches have existed in all generations (none), and how many of them call Mary blessed with special prayers and devotions?

Gal. 4:4 - God sent His Son, born of a woman, to redeem us. Mary is the woman with the redeemer. By calling Mary co-redemptrix, we are simply calling Mary “the woman with the redeemer.” This is because “co” is from the Latin word “cum” which means “with.” Therefore, “co-redemptrix” means “woman with the redeemer.” Mary had a unique but subordinate role to Jesus in salvation.

Eph. 1:1; Phil. 1:1; Col. 1:2 - the word “saints” (in Hebrew “qaddiysh”) means “holy” ones. So Mary is called Holy, the greatest Saint of all.

Luke 2:35 - Simeon prophesies that a sword would also pierce Mary’s soul. Mary thus plays a very important role in our redemption. While Jesus’ suffering was all that we needed for redemption, God desired Mary to participate on a subordinate level in her Son’s suffering, just as he allows us to participate through our own sufferings.

Luke 2:19,51 - Mary kept in mind all these things as she pondered them in her heart. Catholics remember this by devoting themselves to Mary’s Immaculate Heart and all the treasures and wisdom and knowledge contained therein.

Ah, easy easy now. Seems to me the OP is in need of emotional support here, not didacticism, sweaty quotations or proselytizing.

Hm, I would offer PMing, if you would not hold my untheism against me. Please know, I do not mind theism (it’s often benign 😉 ), but somehow your troubles seem to go beyond such questions, and there maybe even such as I may be of assistance. Knowing another is in pain, though…I feel it keenly, and am at your disposal if I can be of service, that you may reach whatever it is for which you strive.

Of course, this is the internet, and as it is written, you get what you pay for. 😛

Acts:4
004:010 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
004:011 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
004:012 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Phil:2
002:009 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
002:010 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
002:011 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Mark:3:31 There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him.

3:32 And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.

3:33 And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?

3:34 And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

3:35 For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

Luke27 And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.

28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

Ephesians004:017 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
Acts:004:018 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: 004:012 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
004:013 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

2 Corinthians 004:003 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. (1 Timothy 4:1-3)

St. John chapter 6 verses:
51
I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world."
52
The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us (his) flesh to eat?”
53
Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you.
54
Whoever eats 19 my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.
55
For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.
56
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.
57
Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me.
58
This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever.”
59
These things he said while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.
60
20 Then many of his disciples who were listening said, “This saying is hard; who can accept it?”
61
Since Jesus knew that his disciples were murmuring about this, he said to them, “Does this shock you?
62
What if you were to see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before? 21
63
It is the spirit that gives life, while the flesh 22 is of no avail. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
64
But there are some of you who do not believe.” Jesus knew from the beginning the ones who would not believe and the one who would betray him.
65
And he said, “For this reason I have told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by my Father.”
66
As a result of this, many (of) his disciples returned to their former way of life and no longer accompanied him.
67
Jesus then said to the Twelve, “Do you also want to leave?”
68
Simon Peter answered him, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
69
We have come to believe and are convinced that you are the Holy One of God.”

Just a tip, people:

You may be driving away one of your own. I am sure your zeal is commendable in some fashion, but perhaps it could be better placed?

Please show me in the bible where it said any thing like this about Mary. He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him. (John 3:36)
Not by something man teaches you but the word of God in plain english like this--------------------->16. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
  1. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
and this----------->John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

and the point is…? Since the Catholic Church was the original Church it is irrelevant to quote scripture that clearly states it is something arising later in the game…kinda like the rise of Evangelical/Fundamentalist (Dispensationalists/Millennialists) Protestants in the last 150 years? You just don’t get it–Catholics do not believe in Scripture Alone (Sola Scriptura), we believe in God’s Word Alone–and God’s Word is Scripture, Tradition and Magisterium. So quote all the Scripture you want—it is apples and oranges. You can’t score a baseball game with the rules of football. Tradition- such as prayers that have been used for thousands of years- and official teachings of the Catholic Church (Magisterium) are just as valid as Scripture. And it just does not matter what you quote to deny it, it is only your opinion. (If I believed you were right I would not be a Catholic.) So it is a mute point.
And I pray in all sincerity that the OP comes to realize the beauty and truth to be found in his own Church.
God Bless

I don’t have any problem with any moral teachings of the Church. I follow the moral teachings and other precepts. Only, I harbor many doubts, and I wonder if any religion is true. If the Catholic faith in not true, then I doubt if any other religion is more true. So maybe, man has not found the truth and is not meant to know it?
Hi, Drifting Away. In case anyone else has said the following, excuse me: I sort of skipped from the third page or so over to here. 😃

You may want to look in threads that are going on right now on the Resurrection (“What documented evidence is available for the “empty tomb”?”) and the existence of God (it has too long a title to type in, but it’s in the Apologetics section). Also, you mentioned you thought the Bible was “not clear.” I would ask you: How much of the New Testament have you actually read?

Paul spoke of the “joy and peace in believing.” And Jesus said “Seek and you will find.” Any inner turmoil you may be experiencing will eventually be resolved if you are sincerely seeking God. There IS joy and peace (and intellectual satisfaction, as well) in the life of faith. Best regards to you.

P.S. to Drifting Away: As you can see, some people have more or less hijacked your thread for their own agendas, regardless of the consequences to you and your questioning of the faith. PLEASE ignore them and focus on the posts that are sincerely responding to your original questions. Best, cpayne
